Violet ran down the stairs that morning, her bag slung over her shoulder. The house seemed to be quieter than yesterday evening but was still in panic mode. She hadn't seen her dad since yesterday morning. In the dining room her mom was sat at the table, sipping a cup of coffee in her robe and her glasses on the tip of her nose as she read the paper.

"Morning darling, there's coffee on the side" she smiled politely.

"How's dad this morning?" she asked as she poured herself a steaming cup of coffee, the scent hitting her nostrils instantly. If there was one essential thing, she needed for being a doctor, it was coffee. She'd tell all the students who asked her what they needed if they wanted to enter the field and she said that coffee was the stronghold. Without that, there was no way she'd be able to focus. That and a Kit Kat.

"He seems calmer today, he did manage to come to bed last night which is a good sign. He's got his meeting today with the Avengers and your brother is going with the head of the military to see what weapons we can obtain".

"Weapons, is that necessary?" Violet said with concern and Caroline sighed, folding the paper up.

"Well, who knows, I guess it's just for backup if we need them but your father is hoping that we can sort this non-violently but who knows what that will achieve" her mom said with a little bit of a smirk at the end and Violet laughed. It was a sticky situation and whatever they needed to take down Hydra was going to give them the advantage. Hydra already had access to S.H.I.E.L.D and their weapons which meant they were completely out of the equation. Hydra were an organisation that would take any chance to eliminate the ones that were a threat to their opinions and anyone that would get in the way of them becoming in control so of course they were going to be as violent as they could be. But with the Avengers help, there might not need to be as much violence.

Violet ate a quick breakfast of fresh fruits set out by the kitchen staff and kissed her mom on the cheek as she said goodbye. She was hoping she might catch her dad and at least say good morning, or goodbye before he was stuck with meetings all day. She padded down the hallway and to her luck, her dad was walking towards her, dressed finely in his suit, tie done to perfection, and he beamed at her as they reached. Next to him was another man, dressed in a leather jacket and white tee, jeans, and boots. His blonde hair was combed back, and his face was young and clear.

"Ah good morning darling" he kissed her and hugged her tightly, his cologne spreading on top of her.

"Morning dad, hope you're not working too hard" she pouted a little and he chuckled, shaking his head.

"If only I couldn't" Violet then turned to look at the man beside her and she recognised him as Steve Rogers or non-other than captain America. She had to admit he was hot… probably one of the hottest avengers out there.

"Ah, Mr Rogers this is my daughter Violet, Violet this is Steve Rogers or well you probably know him as our Captain America" her dad introduced them and Steve smiled at her, holding his hand out. She took his hand and tried to prevent the small blush from appearing on her pale cheeks.

"Nice to meet you Miss Fitzgerald" he said softly.

"Oh, please call me Violet, that Miss stuff makes me feel old" she said a little nervously. It was probably because the fact a really hot guy was standing in front of her and not to mention her dad was right beside her, she didn't want to embarrass herself. He was obviously here for the meeting with the other Avengers and wondered if they were perhaps already in the Oval.

"You off to work now?" her dad said with a little concern in her voice. With everything going on, he wasn't exactly keen on her working at the minute. He'd want her to stay here where it was safe, but he knew Violet would throw a fit if he said she couldn't work. Besides, the staff were trained if anything happened, and he had already tightened it so that there was double the guards.

"Yes, I have a day shift, I better get going".

"Yes, we better go as well, I'll see you later darling" her dad kissed her forehead and ushered Steve to follow him.

"Have a good day Violet" he said, and Violet couldn't help but blush. She'd have to tell Kayleigh about this. She was almost in a fluster now and all because she shook Captain America's hand.

"Thanks" she whispered even though he probably didn't hear her. She rushed out to the car that was waiting for her outside and slipped in, greeting Michael and Bruno.

When she reached the hospital, Bruno escorted her inside and took his post in the hospital. Normally her bodyguards didn't come in the hospital and mostly stayed posted outside or near the hospital but because of the threats, it was deemed appropriate that someone was even closer. Violet was annoyed at first as she didn't want her work being mixed with the fact that she was the president's daughter and didn't want patients to be intimidated by the security, but she had to agree that it was not only for her safety but others as well.

"Oh my god, you met Captain America" Kayleigh squealed, and Violet shushed her.

"Shhh" she giggled at the end as Kayleigh jumped up and down.

"Okay I changed my mind, give my number to him and not that old man I wanted yesterday" Violet rolled her eyes, shaking her head with a grin on her face.

"You just can't help yourself and what do you think I am some match maker?".

"So, what was he doing at the white house, I heard about Fury, is it to do with Hydra" the news of Nick Fury's death had spread like wildfire which meant that the rumours of Hydra were also spreading, something Hydra wanted to happen.

"I can't say Kayleigh, it's supposed to be secret and all" she said in a hushed voice.

"Oh, come on you can tell me, do you think I'm going to go and snitch to Hydra" Kayleigh joked, and Violet gave her a look. This wasn't supposed to be a joke, this was serious. But Violet knew Kayleigh wouldn't drop it until she said anything.

"Uh fine, basically my dad's called The Avengers in, he's having some meeting about it all and what they are going to do but I don't know anything else" Violet whispered. The last thing she needed was someone catching whiff of this information and spreading it, so it got to Hydra.

"Oh shit, it's serious then" Kayleigh said, and she nodded.

"Very, why do you think old man is following me" Violet nodded in the direction of Bruno who luckily was too far away to hear her say that and Kayleigh giggled.

"Yeah, your right… anyway I better go, I have a patient in five mins, catch you later" she patted her shoulder and escaped down the hall. Violet gathered her paperwork and made her way down to her station to begin her day.

….

"Thank you all for coming, I'm sorry this is at late notice but this needs to be addressed as soon as possible and you are my only option" John addressed the people sat in the chairs surrounding his desk. He had called the Avengers in for a meeting to discuss the threats of hydra and what they could do to stop them. The only ones that weren't present were Banner and Thor who were currently unavailable, but it didn't make a difference. Tony, Steve, Clint, Natasha, and Sam were all present, arms folded as they listened to the president.

"As you may have heard, Hydra is rising. There were rumours that S.H.I.E.L.D had undercover Hydra agents and were being infiltrated throughout the years of S.H.I.E.L.D. As of yet we are uncertain who is with Hydra and who is with S.H.I.E.L.D".

"Alexander Pierce… he must be behind it all. He's secretary of world security council, he has all say in operations, he's the only one who could have kept Hydra under this whole time" Steve commented.

"Well then we have our man" Tony shrugged as if the problem was completely solved.

"And if he's not" Clint suggested.

"Why wouldn't he be, if he wasn't working with Hydra then he would have come for help".

"Tony's right, if he was with S.H.I.E.L.D then why hasn't he come forward". Sam confirmed.

They now had a starting point, but it didn't make things any easier. With the access they had with all the weapons and technology at S.H.I.E.L.D so far, they were in the running.

"And I'm sure you are all aware of Nick Fury. It's unfortunate to say that he was killed yesterday after a shooting in the night. Steve you were with him when it took place and it's obvious that this was Hydra which is why I have called you all in as we need to eliminate them as quickly as possible before they gain control" the Avengers frowned at the news of Nick Fury's death. John had explicitly said the news of Nick Fury was to be kept under until it was safe to be released but somehow it had been leaked, perhaps by a reporter and although it wasn't ideal, there wasn't time to dwell on it, there were bigger things that needed to be addressed.

"Did you see who the shooter was?" Tony asked and Steve shook his head.

"I tried to catch up to him, but he was too quick… nearly as fast as me. He was big… and he had a metal arm" the Avengers were stunned by the description of the shooter.

"You don't think he could be a super soldier, do you?" Clint asked and Steve shrugged.

"With the way he was it's possible" It was crazy to him that there could be other super soldier's out there, ones that were even faster and stronger than him.

"Natasha, I believe you acquired some information recently on a mission for Fury" John said, and Natasha nodded, bringing out the USB stick.

"Yes, Mr President although he wasn't able to open it, there's an encryption on there preventing anyone from accessing the files" she held the stick and Tony snatched it from her hands, inspecting it.

"I'll have Friday see if there's a way to unlock the encryption" Tony suggested.

"You can try but I think the only way of getting in there is with Hydra" Natasha shrugged, and John sighed.

"This is getting big, if we don't end Hydra now, they could end up killing millions of people, as soon as those files are unlocked, I need all the information you can obtain on Hydra and who's working for them".

"And in the meantime," Sam asked.

"Do what you can to keep this city safe, Hydra could attack at any moment".

"Yes Mr President" the avengers stood and exited the Oval, leaving John to rack his brain on a strategy.

….

Alexander Pierce was a smart man. He knew who to trust and who not to trust. Which is exactly why he had Nick Fury killed. The news of his death popped up on the TV and he smiled.

"Well done, Asset, phase one of our mission is complete" he turned to face the tall man standing a few feet behind him, eyes locked with the deadly blue ones staring back at him.

"Now we move on" he took a brown envelope off the desk and handed it to the asset he took it and ripped it open immediately.

"Your next target" Pierce confirmed as he took out the photo inside.

His blue eyes scanned the picture of the woman, dark hair cascading down her shoulders, a bright smile on her face and beautiful eyes. She was stunning, innocent, and young.

"Infiltrate and gather as much information as possible, then report back to me" Pierce commanded and the asset nodded, slipping the photo back inside and turning to leave the office.
