Violet padded down the hallway of the white house, lazily looking at her phone, her head deep into the screen. She knew this house like the back of her hand and didn't even need to look up to know where she was going. She was heading to her room to chill out for a bit before she had to head to work.
Her father had been strict on rules and precautions to keep everyone safe. Until he had a full proof plan, and the Avengers were on board, the family were only to travel for necessity which meant Violet found herself stuck in this giant house. She argued with him that she had her security but there was no getting past it. Violet in the end had to sigh and nod, pretending that she was fine with it when really, she was livid. She understood it was a danger but what was the point in having all the security if she couldn't go out with her friends.
So instead, she resorted to finding a new series on Netflix to watch in bed. Just as Violet rounded the corner of the house to head down to her room, she bumped into a hard chest, stumbling back with a dizzy spell in her head. The crash nearly blew the wind from her, and she felt a hand grab her to regain her balance again.
"Whoa, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there" a voice said and when she composed herself, she looked up to meet the bright blue eyes of Steve Rogers. A smile grew on his face as he clutched her elbow lightly, giving a warming squeeze. Violet found herself in a trance, captured by those blue eyes and she stunned. He truly was a sight to behold. She could practically feel the abs through his t-shirt as she bumped into him.
"Oh no, don't be, I should have been looking where I was going" she said a little nervous, her pale cheeks flushing red like a tomatoe, and she hide her face slightly.
"I was just using the bathroom, not that you needed to know that" she giggled at his nervousness and shook her head lightly.
"Not to worry" she assumed that he was here for her father, perhaps another meeting to discuss what to do with the Hydra situation.
"So how are you finding all this?" she asked, and he sighed, holding his hands to his hips, his muscle arms flexing and the veins popping from the back of his hand. Violet swallowed and couldn't help the tingle in her body. She felt like a little schoolgirl with her crush. He certainly had an effect on woman.
Why does he have to be this hot?
"Well, I'd be lying if I said this wasn't an everyday thing for me but it's big. Hydra are one of the biggest terrorist organisations out there and so far, they seem to be leading. I took them down once before and I'll do it again" he said with determination. He was certain that Hydra weren't going to get away with this.
"What about you, I'm sure you're probably used to all this security and watchful eyes" he said, and Violet giggled, shaking her head.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to it but it's okay, I know my dad is only trying to keep us all safe and he's stressing enough about it, I don't want to give him a heart attack" Steve chuckled and crossed his arms, the muscles bulging, and Violet swallowed hard.
Does he have to do that, damn why is he so sexy?
"Of course not, then we really would be screwed" he joked, and Violet replied with a soft laugh. Their eyes locked for a moment and Violet felt herself blushing again, suddenly turning all shy and nervous and she bit her bottom lip, dragging the soft skin between her teeth as she averted her eyes to the floor. He so easily made her fluster and Violet didn't know how long she could stand here before she crumbled to her knees.
"I better get going, your father is probably waiting for me" he broke the silence and Violet nodded, falling out of her trance and composing herself.
"Sure, um I guess I'll see you around" she didn't know what to say, the situation was awkward and when he flashed her a smile, she only felt her body tingle more.
"See you around… Violet" he gave a nod before brushing past her, his elbow grazing her, the touch of his warm skin on her making her heartbeat faster. She scurried down to her room and slammed the door a little door hard, taking a deep breath.
"God, what's wrong with me" she whispered to herself.
….
"Kayleigh stop!" Violet groaned as Kayleigh giggle next to her, poking her in the arm as she teased her.
"You love Captain America" she said in a sing song voice and Violet glared at her, eyes wide. Anyone could hear her and the last thing she needed was a rumour going around that they were in love or something. All it would take is for a reporter or journalist to hear that rumour and to blow a story out of proportion. There was no love involved at all. All Violet had said to Kayleigh was that she and Steve talked earlier in the hallway and how good looking he was and now she wouldn't stop teasing.
"I don't love him, keep your voice down" she hushed, and Kayleigh laughed, shaking her head as she turned back to her paperwork.
"I'm only teasing you… but you clearly have the hots for him, I mean who wouldn't" Violet couldn't help but smile at her friends' words. It was true, who didn't have the hots for Steve Rogers. But there was absolutely nothing going on between the two and even if there was, there was no way on earth her dad would allow it. He was an Avenger, and she was the President's daughter. It wouldn't be appropriate and right now her dad didn't need any more to stress about.
"Any news on the whole thing" Kayleigh asked, and Violet sighed.
"It's all so serious right now, I don't know what's going to happen" Violet said truthfully. Any day now Hydra would attack. They were most likely planning something big and until the Avengers could retrieve the information off the USB stick Natasha had collected, they had no idea what was coming. Even if Violet knew she wouldn't be able to tell Kayleigh and not because she was a potential suspect for Hydra but because it was government information that needed to be kept secret and if would be completely inappropriate and serious for her to go around telling everyone what the government and president were planning.
Work flew by for Violet and soon enough she was packing her bags and heading home for the night. It was twelve when she hopped into the SUV, yawning as she sat in her usual spot and greeted Michael and Bruno. The ride was quiet, expect for the quiet music playing in the background. She had to turn down her phone screen brightness as it was too bright and blinding for her in the dark car. The streetlights shone on her face every time they passed one and her head nestled on the freezing cold glass of the window, almost burning her with a chill.
She was tired and ready for bed. Most likely her parents would be asleep by the time she got in so she wouldn't see them until tomorrow. She debated on the way home whether to have something for dinner but decided she was too exhausted to make something and she didn't want to bother the cooks.
As she reached the outside of the house, she gathered her bag and jacket, throwing it over her arm and slipped out of the SUV.
"Night Michael, thank you for the ride" she smiled politely. She always thanked him for everywhere he took her, and he gave her a nod. She thanked Bruno as she passed him, jogging up the front door and smiled at the doorman. The house was fairly quiet for a change, and she crept silently in, not wanting to disturb anyone. The family were used to her shifts and before her mom used to stay up for her, waiting for her to come home to make sure she was okay after a long day. It was when she first started as a junior doctor and was getting used to the different shifts she had to work. But now her parents would go to bed before she arrived home. She had her security with her if she needed anything.
The stairs creaked slightly as she padded up them softly, her shoes scuffing slightly and she yawned, squinting her eyes as she reached her bedroom door. She lazily walked inside, throwing the bag and jacket on the floor. All she wanted to do now was pull on some comfy PJs and crawl inside her big bed, cocoon herself with the duvet and fall into a peaceful slumber. She couldn't be bothered to brush her hair or teeth. Violet checked her phone once more before dropping it on the desk and turning around to head to her wardrobe. But as she turned around, she stopped dead in her tracks, a short sharp gasp escaping her and her body freezing.
