Violet didn't sleep all night. Her mind was fixed on the soldier that had invaded her room. He was dangerous that's for sure and not someone you wanted to mess with. The number of weapons scared her alone. But now she was a target for him. He knew her, memorised her face, knew where her bedroom was, probably scouted where every guard was at every single hour. And now thanks to her, he knew about the Avengers.

She tossed and turned in bed, her mind still on the soldier. The sun was starting to rise, and she hadn't caught a wink yet and she had work in the morning. She felt sick to her core.

Why did I tell him about the Avengers?

After all the times she said to Kayleigh, she couldn't tell her anything because it needed to be kept top secret and now, she had given vital information to the enemy themselves. But it wasn't like she had a choice. Either way he was going to get something out of her, and she didn't want to risk getting hurt. She could still feel the feeling of the gun being pressed into her chin; his hand wrapped around her neck. And then he had touched her there.

It was obvious it was a distraction technique but at the same time, it seemed as if he wanted to touch her. But that didn't matter, what mattered was Hydra now had information about what her father was planning to do to stop them, and it was all her fault. She couldn't even begin to think about how she was going to tell him. it wasn't going to be a simple 'Hey dad, last night a Hydra soldier was in my bedroom, and I told him the Avengers are working with you to take them down'.

There would be so many questions, ones she wasn't prepared to answer. But she needed to tell him. there was no way on earth she could keep this quiet. It scared her to think that Hydra now had more of an advantage than they already did and that they could strike at any time.

Soon enough, Violet was able to catch a few hours of sleep. When the birds tweeted that morning, she groaned as she rolled onto her side, shielding herself from the blinding light creeping through the cracks in the curtains. She wanted to fall back to sleep but she knew she had to get up. She had work to get to and not to mention the conversation with her father.

Violet found herself putting everything off for as long as she can, taking her sweet old time to get dressed, brush her hair, do her teeth. As every minute ticked by, the closer she got to having to tell the truth. She wasn't nervous that her dad would be angry with her, but it certainly wasn't ideal. Hydra now knew the Avengers were working with them which meant they Hydra would focus on taking them out first, eliminating anyone that could be of any assistance.

She rubbed her tired eyes, wiping away the crust and sleep imbedded in the corners before slinging her bag on her shoulder and leaving her room. She felt her stomach flip like a rollercoaster and a sickly feeling in the pit. She debated whether to step into the bathroom she was passing and throw up, but she knew it was just from the nerves and the fact she hadn't had any breakfast.

She reached downstairs and entered the dining room where her brother and mother were sat, reading the newspaper, and digging into their breakfast.

"Good morning darling" her mom said to her cheerfully and Violet swallowed hard. Normally her dad would be here as well, but he wasn't.

"Hi… is dad here" she asked quietly.

"No, he left early this morning, he's gone to Stark Industry's to meet with Mr Stark and the rest of the group" her mom said, and Violet blinked in shock.

Fuck she thought. This was not ideal at all. The worst possible scenario flashed in her head. What if Hydra were already on their way to take out the Avengers. What if her dad was also a target and they were planning to eliminate him as well?

Caroline narrowed her eyes as she saw the blank look on her daughter's face, the worry settling in, and she turned to her.

"Is everything alright darling?" she asked, and Violet fell from her daydream, giving her mom a tight smile.

"Yes, everything is fine, I just wanted to see him before I left that's all" she lied, acting like everything was normal even though deep down everything wasn't. She didn't want to tell her mom, she didn't want her to worry, and the less people knew about it, the better it was to keep everyone safe. Caroline narrowed her eyes further as her daughter left the dining room, making her way to her car outside. She wasn't convinced but decided to let it go and went back to her breakfast.

Violet sat nervously in the air-conditioned car, her leg thumping up and down as Michael drove her to work with Bruno up front. She debated whether to tell them two. They were her security of course and were assigned to keep her safe. Plus, even if she told her dad, he would tell them anyway.

Her fingers hovered over the call button on her phone for her dad's number. She was too nervous to call and tell him and didn't want him to stress. He was probably at Stark Towers now with Tony Stark and the rest of the group but at the same time, the longer she left it, the quicker Hydra were working their way in to take control of the country. There was no time to lose.

"Michael" she said softly catching his attention and he peaked into the mirror, looking directly at her for a second before placing his eyes back on the road.

"Yes Violet" he asked, and she took a deep breath.

"There's something I need to tell you, it's pretty important" she shuffled in her seat, and he looked at her worried in the mirror.

"What is it" the car came to a gentle stop as they approached a long line of traffic, the breaks squeaking as it did, and everything became still. Violet took a deep breath, working up the courage to tell them.

But as soon as she opened her mouth and was about to speak, a loud gunshot ran through the street, smacking against the side of the car. Violet screamed, ducking her head down instantly between her legs and shielding herself from window.

"Shit" Bruno spat, eyes scanning to where the gunshot could have come from. Another shot ran out and the window at the back of the SUV smashed into a million pieces. Violet screamed again and suddenly felt the car starting to move.

"Get us out of here" Bruno yelled whilst Michael turned the gear stick furiously, turning the car around and started to speed off. He was driving on the wrong side, cars honking and swerving him and soon he managed to get on the right side, his foot pressing the pedal to the floor to build up some speed.

"What was that?" Violet whimpered looking around with fearful eyes, but she already had a feeling.

"I don't know" Bruno said, gun in hand as Michael sped down the street. His driving skills were of an expertise, fit for a situation like this.

"Stay down Violet" he ordered, his tone serious but gentle at the same time and violet ducked her head down.

Suddenly, the car swerved to the left as a big black van shoved itself into theirs. Michael lost control of the wheel, the car squeaking and skirting as it tried to break, black smoke escaping from the screeching tires. Violet felt her heart thudding against her chest again, but she squeezed her upper body in tighter between her legs, her back bending and cramping instantly.

A sharp turn to the left and they made their way down another street. The van came up behind them, punching them forwards and Michael cursed, banging his head onto the wheel and a small gash opening on his head.

"Fuck, Bruno see if you can shoot the tires" he growled, hands turning bright white as he squeezed the wheel tightly, gaining control again. Bruno rolled the window down and aimed his gun with two sturdy hands, hoping to get a shot of the van. Violet squeezed her eyes shut, trying to drown out the commotion but with the bangs and shots firing, it was hard to escape.

"I can't, it's too far behind us, we need to try and lose them" Bruno said angrily. He couldn't get a clear shot to shoot the van out. Michael swung to the right, shooting down the opposite side street and raced to turn the other corner, hoping to lose the van. The van skidded and nearly crashed into a side building which gave them the opportunity to hide.

Michael sighed in relief and carried on driving, making his way back on the main road, criss crossing between cars to get in front.

"Fuck, we need to get to a safe house, call the president" Michael ordered, and Bruno snatched his phone out. Violet lifted her head, staring wide eyed and cautiously looking around. But when she looked out the front window, her eyes widened.

"No" she whispered.

There he was, standing in all his tactile gear, a long gun in hand as he held it up to fire at them. His eyes were locked on their car, and he didn't hesitate.

A sharp blast fired at them, an explosive device clutching into the front of the car and within seconds exploded. The car turned upwards, flying through the air and turning over itself in a flip before landing on the top. Violet screamed, clutching her seatbelt as it strangled her, whiplash striking her neck and the car bounced back on its wheels skidding across the floor and into a building. The window's smashed, glass shattering on the floor and the people inside screamed in terror, running for dear life. Her head knocked against the window, cracking it open and a large gash on her cheek opened up, blood spilling over her white top.

Each of them groaned in pain, smoke filling the inside of the car, broken glass covering the floor. Michael and Bruno flung off their seatbelts, falling to the ground, their suits all dirty and dusty. Violet struggled against the seatbelt, the strap tight against her neck and cutting off her air supply. She choked and started to panic.

"Ahhh, Michael" she called for help, hands in a fluster to free herself from her bind.

"Fuck, Violet are you okay" Michael turned, moving into the backseat to check on her. He reached into his pocket and pulled the pocketknife out, slashing the seatbelt and caught her before her fall. She hissed as she felt her cheek the blood staining her fingers and Michael reached into his jacket.

"Here take this, we need to get going" he ordered. There was no time to sit around, and dilly dally.

"Where are we going?" she asked scared and Michael kicked the non-broken glass from the window, crawling out and helping her. Violet hissed as broken glass imbedded itself in her arm as she crawled out, but she didn't have time to look at it. The three of them crouched behind the destroyed car.

"Okay take this, I want you to run as fast as you can, find somewhere safe, I will find you. You have your phone don't you" he said calmly, and she nodded. she couldn't speak, tears were threatening to fall from her eyes, and she was in so much pain. she didn't know if she had it in her. the squeal of the van alerted them, and Violet felt her heart beating quicker, the feeling almost sickening.

"If someone tries to hurt you or runs after you, shoot them" Michael said and Violet shook her head, stammering over her words.

"But I… what if- "Michael placed his hand on the side of her face, ceasing her ramble.

"Look at me, it's going to okay, just find somewhere safe and stay there until I come okay" Violet nodded, taking a shaky breath.

"Okay, go" he urged her to move, and Violet took off running. She didn't look behind her, she just kept on running to find somewhere to hide.

The soldier stormed forwards, the van of other hydra agents behind him, guns at the ready as he made his way to the overturned car. He reached the car, and his metal hand snatched the door away, flinging it with ease across the road, the metal scraping. He looked in and saw it empty. His eyes narrowed angrily, and he growled behind his mask. Suddenly shots rang out and he look up. The guards were firing at the other agents from the van.

The Hydra agents shot back, shielding behind the van, and retrieving weapons from inside. But the soldier had other things to deal with. He looked over and saw Violet dash around the corner. Hilting his gun up, he stormed in that direction.

Violet ran to the nearest building she could find. There was a large building, home to what looked like an accounting agency, and she stormed her way inside. It was empty, except for the lone security guard sleeping, his gap covering his eyes. She debated to wake him up but decided against it. She didn't want anyone else to get hurt.

She pressed the button for the top floor of the building in the elevator and shook as she waited. She glanced every second outside, keeping a lookout for the deadly soldier and when it pinged open, she threw herself inside.

Violet pressed herself against the silver wall, her breathing turning into hyperventilating, and she paced around, holding her head tightly between her hands. She couldn't believe this was happening. She prayed that word had travelled to her dad and help was on the way. She was scared to shit about Michael and Bruno. There was no way they'd be able to win against those guys. There was two of them and probably about ten of them… not to mention the deadliest one of all.

The elevator pinged and she ran out, searching for a room to hide in. She found a big room filled with desks and computers, all completely empty and she slammed the door shut. She took cover under one of the desks, hiding underneath and clutching her knees to her chest, her chin resting on top. Her hand was gripping the gun so tightly that it was starting to hurt but she didn't let go. Now all she had to do was wait.

As long as Michael and Bruno make it out alive, they'd be able to find her with the tracker in her phone. The silence was like torture and the only sound was her breathing. Her hands were covered in blood and her face as well. Minutes passed of the deadly silence and Violet felt the tears starting to drop down her cheeks, soaking her knees as they pooled there. She was scared, terrified, frightened. Hydra were dangerous and much better equipped. And now it was obvious they were after her.

Why else would they have attacked?

A soft whimper came from Violet as she rested her head on her knees. It could be hours until they find her, come to her rescue or minutes. But suddenly the silence was broken as she heard noises coming from outside the office. Her body froze and she clutched her body tightly, eyes widening as she waited. Was it Bruno… Michael… her father?

Boots scuffed the carpet outside, and the door squeaked open slowly. Violet swallowed and silently breathed. Her body began to shake with fear. The padding of boots became louder as the person walked into the room, slowly wandering around the room. Violet squeezed her eyes tightly. It was him.

If it were Michael or Bruno, they would have called her name by now. But not him, he didn't say a word. He paced around the room, weaving his way through every desk, gun pointed at the ready. Violet made no movement but could feel his presence. And her heart stopped for a second as he walked right by the desk she was hiding under. He stopped for a moment, listening out for any noises. His heightened senses could catch anything, but he heard nothing. It was deadly silent like a library. He moved on.

Violet waited, hoping he would give up and leave and when silence came, she thought he had. She was about to crawl from under the desk but stopped herself quickly when a loud crash echoed behind her. It sounded like a desk being thrown across the room, smashing into a million pieces, wood flying across the room. She bit her lip to stop her whimpers from alerting her presence and she held tightly onto the gun.

She had almost forgotten she had it and realised she could use it against him. His loud steps started again, and Violet held onto her breath.

The soldier scanned the room and his head whipped to the side when he saw a piece of paper float to the ground. He looked intently and turned that way. He was sure he found her. crouching to the ground, he reached behind his back and pulled out a small round grenade, silver like his arm. He rolled it across the floor, watching as it bowled its way across the room and hit the desk that he acquired. He stood back up, holding his gun at the ready, squinting through the little eye lens at the front for a better target. The grenade exploded, sending up fire and smoke into the air blowing up the desk into smithereens and the surroundings ones with it.

His eyes narrowed as he saw no body though which he had expected to see run as soon as the grenade had reached it. But from the corner of his eye, he saw a dash of brown locks wave in the air, and he turned, locking eyes with his target.

Violet sprinted to the door, swinging her arms in the air to give her some speed but screamed as bullets fired at her, smashing into the walls. She was caught off guard by the shooting, ducking herself down to cover and the soldier moved forwards, jumping over the desks, and landing in front of her. Violet pointed her gun up to take a shot, but it was smacked from her hand, the object clattering across the floor.

She gasped as she was thrown into the wall, her back immediately cracking in pain and she slid against the wall to the floor, groaning hard. His boots stomped as he advanced on her, his metal hand reaching out and grabbed her neck, lifting her from the floor. She chocked and struggled in his hard grip, smacking her hand against his face, knocking him off point.

Violet kicked her foot out and connected it with his crotch, in turn causing him to drop her to the floor as he staggered back, clutching the sensitive area. She'd laugh if this was a funny moment. She scrambled across the floor for her gun, but it was kicked away by a big boot. The soldier grabbed the back of her t-shirt and flipped her on her back, straddling her to the floor, his heavy weight pinning her down.

She cried out, smacking her hands across his chest and he grabbed one wrist, pulling it away. he reached behind his back and pulled out a set of sturdy cuffs, none that she had ever seen before and completely different to the standard pair. With all her might, Violet raised her fist and punched him in the face, knocking him off guard and she kicked her knee into his crotch again. She heard him growl and she pushed him off, crawling for dear life.

She was almost to the gun, only an arm's reach away but she was quickly dragged back by her ankles. She yelped and before she could turn to fight back, his heavy boot pressed onto her back, pushing her deep into the floor. A loud click behind her made her gasp softly and the soldier crouched door, tugging away her t-shirt to expose her neck before injecting her with a drug.

Violet screamed, thrashing under his weight but it was no use. The drug already started kicking in and she fought to keep her eyes open. The weight shifted off her and she tried to drag herself away but fell back to the floor, her eyes fluttering closed, and she fell into darkness.
