Later that afternoon, everything had been worked out between Principal Lee, Wyatt and Willa, so all the wolves started walking through the halls as a group. But as they did, most of the students scattered or flinched away from their path as many of them let out snarls and growls, none were afraid to show their teeth. Including Willa who let her eyes glow yellow, driving the students out of her way.

"These sheep just let us in? Baad idea." she joked to Wyatt.

"We agreed to play nice."

"Oh yeah, this is me, being nice." Willa told him, before sharpening her claws on a row of lockers, stopping just before she slashed a terrified zombie's face. "Now let's find that Moonstone. What do you think we should do brother?"

"Well, I think the Great Alpha is still in class somewhere, so maybe we should check the library, maybe their books will have something we can use."

"Let's go wolves!" Willa called out.

Behind them in the hallway, Zed was speaking with Eliza. "Cheer fans in Bucky's camp. Zombies and the football team in mine. The school's split right down the middle."

"Don't forget all the humans who still think we're monsters and the ones who have finally realized how stupid that is." Eliza reminded him.

"Werewolves are the swing vote." Zed said, as his eyes followed the pack down the hall.

"Wolves are key to winning this vote, but you know winning over the wolves is going to be hard. They may say they want to join the school, but most of them aren't acting like they really want to be here."

"Trust me I got this. We're gonna win the wolves' vote, and more. We just have to show them how to fit in like us. Easy as caulibrains, I'll win them over with my quick wit and charming smile."

"Are you sure about that?" Eliza said, watching the wolves continue to growl at passing students.

"Yeah, they wouldn't be joining the school for no reason, I'm sure they just want to be a part of Seabrook just like us. And if we can convince them to fit in, all the panic and monster laws will disappear like that." Zed snapped his finger in emphasis.

"It will be a challenge, I'm pretty sure Bucky got a massive boost to his side after their grand entrance. I don't trust them."

"Don't worry Eliza, this just means you'll have more support to fight injustice. Of course, they'll be on our side. It's just a matter of informing them and encouraging them to vote. And knowing how great a leader I am."

The bell rang, and all the wolves joined together in a chorus of howling. Making Zed flinch as he and Eliza turned toward the sound.

"It may take some baby steps, but I know we can do it. Catch you later Eliza, I have to go to class, but I could use your help when I talk to them after school."

"You got it. See you later Zed."

Bree and Addison were in study hall, and Addison was surprised that a bunch of the werewolves were in the library at all. They must be really excited to learn, she thought. She and Bree were planning to work on Zombie as a Second Language, and Bree already had her notebook open on the table. Addison got up to borrow a book they needed and quickly found it. She walked back through the aisles, but she felt eyes staring at her as she walked back.

When she turned the corner she noticed one of the wolves staring at her over the top of the book he was reading upside down. She walked past but then decided to turn around.

"Hu hem." She cleared her throat as she reached over to turn his book around. And gave him a small smile.

He gave a small, slightly embarrassed smile back.

"Is that book interesting?" She asked.

"Not as interesting as you."

"Excuse me?"

"You just stand out from the crowd."

"Thanks, I get that a lot." Addison muttered as she turned around.

"OK, this is a little bit weird." Addison whispered to herself as she walked back to Bree. She could see her still studiously working away with one of the wolves leaning over her shoulder. Bree finished working on the question and looked up. "He…Hello." Bree stuttered.

Without saying a word, the wolf girl ripped the page out of her notebook and stuffed it in her mouth. Chewing loudly.

"Hey! That dog ate my homework!" Bree shouted out, but like usual, the school librarian didn't hear a word.

Addison set her book down on their table, before sitting down herself beside Bree. "That wasn't very nice."

"Too bad, I was hungry. I wanted a snack, but I figured my first choice was off the menu." The girl said menacingly.

"Wynter." The wolf that had been watching Addison before had followed her to her table and now gently cautioned his packmate.

"Too Much? Bad wolf. I'm sorry." she said to Bree, giving Bree back the paper that still remained.

"Thank you." Bree said slowly, taking back the soggy paper with a disgusted expression.

The tall leader slammed her books on the table in front of Addison. "Lies! These history books claim werewolves attacked Seabrook settlers! But they struck first and stole our Moonstone!"

"I'm sorry I didn't know that." Addison gave a genuine apology. She wasn't sure what the girl was talking about, but she knew from experience Seabrook liked to write its own history when it came to monsters. She was constantly learning new things about her friends' pasts from Zed and Eliza.

"There's a lot you don't know." Willa answered her, a bit calmer. She grabbed the books and turned around, marching away.

"I know the alarm's going to go off if you don't check out those books." Addison warned her.

In response, Willa ripped off her necklace and launched it at the security scanner without pausing for breath. The necklace stuck to the gate and created glowing blue sparks. Willa marched through without the alarm going off, deftly grabbing her necklace and returning it to her neck.

"Our necklaces have a way with electronics. I'm Wyatt by the way. That's my sister Willa."

"Hi I'm Addison, and this is my friend Bree." Addison introduced herself.

"Hi Wyatt, so what made you really come to Seabrook? It can't just be that you wanted to join the school." Bree asked.

"We have our reasons. But we figured our time in the shadows was over when a bus crashed through the middle of our forest."

"Sorry about that. None of you were hurt, were you?

"No don't worry, we only found you after the bus stopped moving. The pack was in no danger at all, but thanks for asking."

"Of course, I would. You scared me in the woods, but no one was hurt thankfully, I wouldn't want any of you to be hurt either. What were you doing when you all surrounded me?"

"Well we heard the bus crashing through the woods and went to check it out, but when we found you first, we wanted to make sure you weren't a threat to us. We try not to let humans see us, but we-I've never met a human like you before."

"Don't worry, I would never want to hurt anyone. Even though you did scare me and then made Zed scare me. But as he always tells me he heals fast"

"Sorry about that, and sorry about almost attacking you all earlier, Willa didn't want to follow my plan. She thought it would be best if we made a strong first impression."

"Yeah, it's fine, trust me, the zombies had just as many problems when they first joined school earlier this year, plus it didn't help that everyone is on super high alert right now. How do you like school so far?"

"Oh yeah it's great, although we haven't really done anything yet. I've been to a few classes, but haven't really learned anything new."

"What was the thing Willa was talking about?" Bree asked. "What's a moonstone?"

"It's a wolf secret. If we told you we'd have to kill you."

"Wynter."

"Sorry, right too much."

"I can't tell you, but I would like to someday." Wyatt said looking at Addison. "Do you like it here Addison?"

"Yeah, of course, Seabrook is my home, I haven't always loved it, but it's nice and safe, and despite what most people may say, Zombietown is even better. I fit in much more over there where they embrace differences. And it normally isn't this bad, everyone has been panicking the last few days because of you all, but I'm glad you're joining our community. Soon everything will go back to normal."

"Nah normal's overrated, and being different isn't a bad thing. It can make you stronger." Wyatt looked deep into her eyes. "Every wolf is unique, but when we work as a pack, we use all our strengths to accomplish any goal."

"I know, Zed tells me that all the time." Addison smiled, a slight blush staining her cheeks as she thought about him. Even though it had been three days, she still hadn't had nearly enough time with him to make up for being apart for two weeks.

"Who's Ze-"

The bell interrupted Wyatt's question.

"Well, Wyatt, Wynter, it was a pleasure meeting you, but in the future try not to eat other students' homework.

"Do you think Mr. Z will believe me when I tell him a dog ate my homework?"

"Don't worry Bree you can copy my notes if you need them." Addison whispered as she and Bree walked to their next class.

"Did you hear that?" Wyatt asked Wynter as his eyes followed the two cheerleaders.

"No, what? "

"She asked if the pack was OK without any reason. She must feel the instinct to protect the pack, and she's the first human to actually talk to us all day. And she's happy we're here."

"OK, when can we tell her about the Moonstone, without you know…killing her?"

"Not until Willa gives permission. She would say it's still too risky. But did you smell her? She definitely isn't a normal human."

"I thought we already figured it out from the hair, she also smells a lot like the zombies, and strawberries."

"Well yeah, she probably has her own pack of friends, if she's friends with zombies, it's just another sign she has no problem with monsters. She'll be ready to help us in a heartbeat once we tell her the truth. The only time she sounded angry was when she talked about the monster laws."

Wyatt was certain, she had even blushed at him, she had to like him, and more importantly the rest of the werewolves. She stood up to Wynter and even Willa a bit. She was a natural Alpha, he couldn't wait to have her join the pack. He could already picture bringing her to the den, going on moonlit walks through the woods together, howling at the moon. It just had to be her destiny, if only everyone believed the prophecy as much as he did. Addison was still their only real lead on the Moonstone. Before Addison caught him, he really had been trying to read the history book he had found, and while he expected the real history to be buried, he would have assumed the humans would brag about stealing the sacred Moonstone from their enemies. Not hiding their greatest trophy.

Later that afternoon, all the wolves were hanging in Zombietown. The army of Z-Patrol patrolling the streets on the Seabrook side encouraged them to move along. Or Wyatt did, and Willa eventually agreed as long as they were playing nice with the school it would be best not to provoke the authorities until they had a plan. Willa and Wyatt had continued to pour over the history books, but with little success.

"Useless! None of these history books say where the Moonstone is hidden."

"Relax Willa, I've been talking to the Great Alpha, I think in a few more days she'll be on our side."

"We don't know if she even is the Great Alpha yet Wyatt, I'm trying to cover all our bases, we're almost out of time."

"Hello Wolves." The tall zombie from the assembly walked up to the despondent group. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Zed." He said, holding out his hand, "Zombie, football star, student body president, and organizer of the Monster Prawn vote." The wolves just stared at him silently, none shaking his hand and after a few moments, he awkwardly took it back. "OK."

"Hi, I'm Eliza. When zombies first came to Seabrook, we were outsiders too. Which is why you need a great president like Zed to represent you. We'd be honored if you guys joined us. We could really use your help." Eliza said smiling.

"Our pack is our pack, and we already have the only Alpha we need. Right, Willa? We don't need anyone else. So." Wynter said, standing up and motioning to Willa and the rest of the wolves in emphasis.

This did bring a small smile out of Willa's serious glare, but it quickly disappeared.

"Who doesn't want more friends?" Zoey asked her. "Beneath all that fluffy hair I bet you're a real softie."

Wynter kneeled down to Zoey's level and fixed her with her fiercest glare. "I am a mean, mean werewolf, kid. I am tough, and rough."

Zoey was completely nonplussed. "Awe you said ruff, like a sweet little puppy dog. Ruff ruff."

"We are beasts of the forest. We will never be tamed!" Wynter growled.

Zoey reached up behind Wynter's ear and started scratching, interrupting her train of thought.

"Awwe. Oh boy, Oh wow that's great. Oh wow." Wynter sighed as she sat back down in her chair. "That's enough." Wynter whispered to Zoey when she noticed Willa glaring at her.

Willa stood up. "We're nothing like you Zombies."

"You sort of are." Eliza insisted. "Your necklace is powered right? Kind of like an organic Z-Band?"

Willa nodded slightly. "You're smarter than he looks."

Zed frowned as Eliza let out a laugh. "OK, I like you. Thanks."

"That necklace keeps you from fully wolfing out?" Zed asked, reaching to touch it.

Willa slapped his hand away, and Zed pulled back quickly. "Sorry I get it, personal space."

"The opposite. Our moonstones make us our true werewolf selves." Willa revealed.

"So without it you'd be human?" Zed guessed.

"No. We die. We'd be nothing."

"Imagine how alive you'd feel if you didn't have to tamp things down. No longer holding back your true selves." Wyatt added. If this guy was the school president, maybe he'd be willing to help the wolves fight against the humans and retake the Moonstone, he couldn't believe anyone would choose to live in a town that treated half its people like dirt.

"Actually I've got this theory that Zombies may have evolved beyond the need for Z-bands." Eliza revealed.

"Ha ha ha." Zed interrupted her. "Z-bands are great. They help you fit in and I think you guys would have a much better time at Seabrook if you just followed in our footsteps."

"Zed what are you talking about? You know my theory makes some sense. Just look at how you act whenever you're zombie around Addison."

"No don't be ridiculous. Every time I'm zombie around her something goes wrong, and you remember the homecoming game? That was a complete disaster. "

Wyatt's ears perked up. So this was the Zed Addison mentioned. He took a deep breath in. Addison definitely had his scent around her. And he had traces of her unique scent on himself too. But he was acting completely different from Addison. So fearful it seemed, and more willing to change himself and follow the rules than change the rules. If they were close as his nose told him, he could be a problem.

"Join a club, play football, I'll even teach you how to tackle." Still getting blank stares. Zed continued his speech. "Just lighten up. Be more like us. Do it like the zombies do. Brush your fangs when you wake up, comb your hair, do your make-up. Sleep at night don't stay up. Don't stand out when your fitting in. When in doubt do the opposite."

"Don't listen to him he's a hypocrite." Wyatt interrupted. "You think we should change to act like the humans that punish you for the smallest infractions and hope they start to like you enough to trust you?"

"All you got to do is give an inch and then we'll take it to the top." Zed insisted.

"Let me guess." Willa retorted. "When the moon is full no howling?"

"Don't run in the halls no growling." Wyatt added.

"Let's go to the mall start styling. Do it like the zombies do." Willa said, in a voice dripping with sarcasm. "Trim your claws get a manicure."

"Cut your fangs leave it on the floor."

"Now wag your tail like a Labrador." Wynter laughed.

Not deterred Zed continued. "All you've got to do is give an inch and then we'll take it to the top. Do it like the Zombies do. Stand up straight do your homework. Smile a lot when you network. Did I mention nobody gets hurt?"

"Why should we change they should be like us? He may eat brains but he's got no guts."

"He's gone insane, yeah he's acting nuts. Come on we've got moves to bust." The wolves let out a chorus of howls before leaving Zombietown to head back to the forest.

"Yeah, that went badly." Eliza sighed as the wolves ran away. "No way you're getting the wolf vote."

Just then Bonzo joined them as he had just returned from cheer practice.

"Alright what are our poll numbers without them." Zed asked.

Eliza revealed her phone to Bonzo. "Noz gruze."

"Ahh, that's awful."

"We've just got to make sure you deliver a killer speech on Thursday. The first step is-"

"More glossy publicity shots. You've done great on the posters Bonzo." Zed said, as Bonzo unrolled one from his backpack.

"Grazias. Grun Zedski gruman erg."

"Yeah I know I asked you to make me look a little human, but that's only because people are lumping werewolves and zombies together. I've got to show them we are nothing like those furballs. They act like they don't want to fit in at all, and it's hurting us. I don't understand why they don't want to fit in? I won't let them keep us from Prawn."

"OK Zed, we all know why Prawn is so important to you. But is it really the most important thing? I still think we should be fighting the big things and the little things will follow along with everything else. If we have to miss one dance no big deal. We can just have a Mash instead. Your girlfriends will both come to hang with us wherever we are then go alone. Bonzo did you ever even ask Bree?"

"Zo, narnca charnze. larwz agarn." Bonzo sighed.

"No way Eliza, baby steps are still progress. It worked before and it will work again. The werewolves are just being stubborn and everyone is still terrified of them, and because of them, everyone's still scared of us. We have to get them on our side."

"Or maybe we should join their side?" Eliza suggested. "I agree with some of what they said, we shouldn't be hiding who we are. We should be letting our freak flags fly."

"It's way too risky, we were doing that and it was good for a while but that turned around in two seconds after Seabrook found a new excuse to punish us for being different. If Seabrook can't change for us then we have to change for Seabrook."

"Seriously? I know you said something the exact opposite of that this morning."

"That was before the wolves attacked and proved to everyone they should be scared, and then laughed in our faces when we asked for their help. We need to just do this on our own. Don't worry buddy, I know we can do this, both of us will have the two most beautiful dates to bring to Prawn."

"Well there goes one of my backup plans." Willa snorted as the wolves traveled back to the den for the night.

"What was that?" Wyatt asked her.

"I figured the zombies would hate the humans just as much as we do. Forced to wear Z-bands every day of their lives, having a police force dedicated solely to them, and all the dumb monster laws that everyone keeps talking about. Why haven't they fought back? If that Zed is their Alpha no wonder they're all cowards. They even obey that stupid curfew."

"Aren't we obeying the curfew?" Wynter asked.

"No! Don't be daft, we're going back home because we need to check on the rest of the pack. Plus I don't think any of us want to spend another night in the vents, and the Z-Patrol will probably try to arrest us if we stayed on the streets. Principal Lee spent so long talking about every stupid law, it almost made me feel bad for the zombies if they didn't just let themselves be walked over, she almost tried to make us vegetarian like the brain-eaters. If she or any other human or zombie tries to tell me what to do, I'll shred them."

"I don't know. I think that cute girl with him sounds more like a fighter. I bet she would join us, and there has to be others like her too."

"Would you stop looking for a mate, get your head-on. Besides I thought you were busy stalking the Great Alpha?"

"She mentioned that Zed guy and they have each other's scent on them, I think they're close, if they are, he could be a problem. He may convince her his way is better."

"For the pack or for your fantasy girlfriend? It doesn't matter, you said she likes monsters. If you are right about her, she'll join us, and if that gutless president gets in our way, we show him our teeth, just like all these dumb humans."

When they got back to the Wolf Den, Willa looked around for Weston. "Where's Weston" she called out.

"He got too sick and is resting in his cave." Winslow reported sadly. "Westley and Woodrow did too."

Willa couldn't block out the sound of wheezing and coughing coming from all the caves around her. She turned to her brother. "We don't have a choice, time is running out. Don't reveal too much, but tomorrow, convince Addison to trust us so we can tell her everything and find out if she is the Great Alpha."

"Don't worry Willa, I won't fail." Wyatt promised.

"We can't fail. Or like I told that idiot zombie. We'll be nothing."
