The gift box Abby had given him was still sitting on his desk collecting dust and dirt from his room. He knew had to open it but somehow he was afraid of what it might be. He had become a complete idiot. It's just a box, he repeated to himself every time he walked into his room and saw the unopened gift remain intact.

He had to admit that said present came as a shock to him at the time and he did his best to remain calm and natural when Abby came up to him with the wrapped gift while the rest had been given unwrapped. What meaning would that have? It was already Friday night, he had to do something.

He got up from his bed and went over to his desk, took the box and lay down again. He looked at the wrapper and thought about it a lot and then in a fit, he tore the paper and revealed a small dark blue box. What was that? These boxes were usually used to give away jewelry. It was not possible.

He took a deep breath and opened the box. His eyes couldn't believe what he was seeing. A perfect metal airplane pin and around it a scarf, as if airplanes could wear them. It really was a unique design with gold borders and the light reflected beautifully on top of the piece. Carefully, he removed the pin from the box and placed it on the collar of his shirt and got up to see himself in the small mirror that he had behind his door, it looked very good on him. He hadn't expected Abby to go to the trouble of finding him something in Hawaii, something so specific to him, she fit all of his tastes too well. He took his cell phone out of his pocket and without thinking, he dialed her number. For some reason, he already knew it by heart.

"Abby?" Hoagie asked when the girl answered the call but she didn't say a word.

"I didn't expect your call Hoagie."

"I know, I know. It's just…Wow, I'm impressed." He looked at himself in the mirror as he stared at the radiant pin.

"Don't tell me it was only now that you opened your present?"

"You caught me."

"Ha ha, I can't believe it, really?

"Enough, Abby," he scratched his head uncomfortably, "I called to thank you, where did you get something like that from?" It's quite… Well, it's quite unique."

"I know baby, but a good girl never reveals her secrets."

"You win this time," he laughs nervously, not knowing very well how to continue the conversation "And... How was your first week of classes?"

"Hogarth, you saw me with the others throughout the week," she mentioned his real name. It was strange for him to be called that way but sometimes the only ones who did were Abby and her mother when she was angry with him.

"I know but…" he sighed heavily and lay down on his bed. "I don't think we spoke directly all week."

"I told you I needed some time," the girl said coldly.

"Sorry, I don't want to pressure you."

"Don't worry, Abby actually likes that you called her on a Friday night, what's up Romeo? No appointments for today on your schedule?"

Hoagie knew that their friendship was still a bit fragile but he didn't want to miss the opportunity to continue talking with her, so he changed the subject and they started talking about school, Wally's test, Nigel's girlfriend and then, they came to the topic of the school dance.

"Has a guy invited you yet?" The question stopped Abby from answering the conversation fluently, and then he mentally slapped himself for being so direct on sensitive girl topics. "I shouldn't have asked. You sure don't want to talk about it."

"Well, no one has but I'm not crazy about that stuff so don't worry, it's all cool."

"Didn't you bother with my question?"

"Relax, nothing's wrong."

After a long time, they finished their conversation and Hoagie slept with a smile on her face that night while Abby took a long time to fall asleep because she felt a bit confused.

"If only you had waited a little longer, I'm sure we would…well it doesn't matter anymore. He has a girlfriend Abby, stop thinking about him like always."

"Abby this way!" An elated girl beckoned Abby from afar as she entered the mall.

"Wow, what energy," she crossed her arms, "and we still haven't found you a date."

"Do you think Wally is going to invite me?" She blushed as she said that, "Well, it can be anyone, it doesn't specifically have to be Wally."

"There is no need for that, I know perfectly well that you want him to invite you," she raised her eyebrows mischievously.

"But what if he doesn't?

"Don't worry, I'll beat him up myself if he doesn't," she patted Kuki's back to give her support and then they headed to a big store dressed for all occasions in the mall.

Abby didn't want to try on any dress because she kept the idea of using something from her sister's closet clear in her mind, so she encouraged Kuki to try on various dresses trying to find the ideal one for the night. When she entered the locker room, the girl sat on a couch that was inside the store and had many mirrors around. Really, the shop owners thought of women, nothing like a good living room and then came out of the dressing gown ready for her to face trial for other friends. Very well thought.

"Do you really think I should try this on?" A voice approaches the dressing room area that Abby thought she heard earlier.

Fanny, even though you still don't have a partner for the dance yet, I think you should choose a good dress, who knows what could happen that night", says Rachel who was carrying with her at least 6 dresses of different colors.

"I would pay attention, if I was you" tells Abby, cross-legged on the sofa very relaxed. That day she wore the red cap faithful to her and her hair in a braid on one side of it.

-¿Abigail? What a surprise! We didn't expect to see you here," Rachel smiles and walks over to greet her.

"Good to see you both."

"Are you here alone?" Fanny asks before heading to a dressing room.

"What do you think? I'm waiting for Kuki to come out of the closet and look, there comes" the three saw as Kuki came out in a dress that looked like a princess in light blue.

"It's cute but I think it is too much," Rachel said looking at the other girls for another opinion.

"Hi girls!" she greeted Fanny and Rachel seeing them with Abby "Did you also come for your dresses?

"Hey, what do you think if we take turns to try on the dresses, so we can give our opinion and choose the one that makes us look the best" they all agreed with Rachel's idea.

Kuki chose a pink dress that gave her just below her knees, making her look very adorable. Rachel chose a aquamarine colored dress with glitter and adhered to her body. Fanny tried on many dresses until they decided that the best thing for her was one emerald green cocktail dress and it was a little longer in the back.

"You really spent the last hour watching us try on dresses and you won't go into the dressing room even once?" Fanny spoke with her hands on her hips and a frown at Abby. "What am I supposed to do to get you to move your ass into the locker room?

"Girls, it's not necessary, really it doesn't matter."

"No way" said Rachel, who came up with a blue colored dress. "Look, you lose nothing trying this."

"Please Abby, I beg you, do it for me" she made some little puppies eyes until finally Abby agreed.

"What a nuisance!" She got up from the sofa and grabbed the dress a little roughly. "I'll just try this one on, understand?"

The girls nodded and sat on the couch and waited for Abby to finish putting on the dress. A store clerk had to help with closing her back because she did not want her friends to see her dress yet. In the small mirror tester dress she would not look bad at all, but it all falls on how she would see her in those giant mirrors outside and in the opinion of the other girls. It was unusual for her to do that sort of thing very feminine but she had to admit she had so much fun with Kuki, Rachel and Fanny.

When Abby finally appeared and he met the other girls, all gaped. They could hardly believe that she treated the same girl doing a few minutes sitting there next to them.

"That is a radical change" Fanny said with a hand on her chin nodding.

"I knew that you would be perfect," very excited Rachel said.

"You're beautiful Abby, now we'll all look amazing that night," Kuki said very happily, jumping up and down.

Abby approached the mirrors and was not sure if the mirrors were bewitched or if it was the lighting of the place but she felt beautiful as she had ever felt. She inadvertently began to cry and this was noticed by her friends who approached cautiously.

"What happens Abby?" Kuki approached, since they were best friends, they had more confidence.

"I ... I can't believe that she makes me look so …" she sobbed but she couldn't finish speaking.

"I know what you feel, you'd never felt so beautiful as today, right?" Asked Rachel taking a little more confidence and she placed a hand on her shoulder as a sign of support.

"Isn't that the only thing that afflicts you, right?" Fanny dared to ask, the others kept silent when they saw how Abby only nodded and wiped her tears. "But look at you, now you're standing here looking beautiful in that dress, don't let anyone or anything take that happiness away from you."

"You're right" she saw the price tag of the dress and she noticed that her savings weren't enough "I think I'll have to call my dad" she laughed, infecting the others with her good energy.

In the end, his dad was surprised that his youngest daughter asked him for money to buy a dress and he started to cry on the phone very happily, saying things like his little girl was maturing and blooming so fast. And without thinking he gave her the whole money of the dress so that she will buy it.

N.A. Hello! I know maybe my updates have gotten a bit slow but hey, I'm still here. A little busy maybe but I won't abandon this story. I wanted to make a chapter for Abby, she deserves more love too. The chapter is a bit short but believe me, I needed this to get here. Now I am going to write a chapter of Hijacking so I will take some time to do it but as soon as I have it finished I will write again here. It can be a bit confusing to have multiple stories but I like it.
