I know this is a short chapter. I'm writing the next one right now. I promise. But I thought short would be better than nothing.
James:
The first few weeks of classes dragged on for James Potter. He was anxious for quidditch to start because he was finally team captain. The badge had come with his letter that summer, and he had talked of little else after it arrived. He had so many plans, and he was sure they were going to win every game this year. After all, James had been the star of the Gryffindor team since he joined in third year. He always knew he would be captain one day, and he couldn't wait to run tryouts and practices the way he wanted. No more of the let's just fly for a lap around the pitch and if you stay on your broom, you're on the team. Those days were over. It was time to really test everyone's skills.
So the first week of October, James finally pinned up the notice on the board in the common room announcing the date and time of team tryouts. As he pinned it up, Marlene McKinnon approached him. She had joined the team as his fellow chaser the previous year.
"Hey Captain. I see you're getting ready for tryouts."
"Of course!" James replied, "Got to get the team ready to dominate this year."
"Well I just hope I make the team again," Marlene replied.
"I think you've got a pretty good chance of that as long as you didn't forget how to fly over the summer." Marlene had surprised James in their 5th year. He had known her for as long as he could remember. Their parents were old friends, but he never realized how good of a flier she was.
"Need any help with tryouts?" Marlene asked.
"Actually, if you would be available to keep notes, that would be very helpful."
"Sure! I would be happy to help. So how is 6th year going for you?"
"It will be better with quidditch. Yours?"
"Not too bad. Being back with all my friends is almost worth all the homework."
"Well speaking of friends, I promised I would meet up with the guys. See you around Marley."
"See you around James."
