Two cats came crashing down into the camp. "WindClan... is... coming!" The white tom gasped for air each word. "Did you see them at all!" The deputy asked as she scrambled on to her paws. "GreenFoot, did you?" The White Tom turned his head to GreenFoot. "Yes! Indeed. It was the deputy leading the morning patrol, you mouse-for-brains!" GreenFoot snarled at the apprentice. "Don't make us worried like that, GoldenPaw." The leader came in staring at GoldenPaw. "S-sorry.." The apprentice stammered. "You should be." The deputy growled. "CloverHeart, he's just an apprentice," The leader looked at CloverHeart in disappointment. "You know the apprentices don't know all rules! And he's only 6 moons old. . ." "He just turned into an apprentice! I'm aware." CloverHeart cut off her Leaders sentence. "I'm sorry, PantherStar. . ." GoldenPaw dipped his head. "It's fine.. just make your mentor know if it's an attack or a patrol next time. And GreenFoot, come into my den, I wish to speak to you, BEFORE moonrise." PantherStar hissed as she walked into the nursery to see the queens and the kits. "Thanks GoldenPaw." GreenFoot snarled, rolling his eyes. The apprentice looked away from his mentor, he looked back at him, GreenFoot gave a nasty glare as he finally reached PantherStar's den. "RedPaw!" GoldenPaw called out, excited to see his favorite apprentice buddy. "GoldenPaw.. I'm sorry. . ." RedPaw whispered. "Huh? Sorry for what?" He replied, titling his head. "I don't wanna be a warrior.." RedPaw's face looked like he already regretted talking. "But w-we will hunt and fight side by side! We will sleep next to each other and I-..." GoldenPaw looked down. "I want to be FleaFur's apprentice.." RedPaw had a stab of guilt. "You wanna be a medicine cat..? Could we still hang out?" GoldenPaw asked, not looking at RedPaw. "Of course! It's not like I'm leaving RiverClan." RedPaw said as he sat up and gathered a pigeon for FleaFur. "Phew.. Thanks RedPaw!" GoldenPaw smiled slightly then left. GoldenPaw saw GreenFoot leave PantherStar's den, completely forgetting he was going to take him hunting now. GoldenPaw walked trotted in front of PantherStar's den. "PantherStar?" GoldenPaw whispered. "Come in." She replied. "Can I have another mentor, GreenFoot doesn't really like me. ." GoldenPaw's eyes dimmed "No," PantherStar hissed lightly. "Wh-" GoldenPaw stopped. "Okay." He answered as he dipped his head and left. "Okay, GoldenPaw. Goodbye." PantherStar said as he her sight.
GoldenPaw struggled to catch up with GreenFoot. "Come on!" GreenFoot hissed. "Go hunt or something. Be Useful." The words stayed in his head, was he really useless? "Y-yes GreenFoot." GoldenPaw murmured as he sprinted off further into RiverClan. He'd drop into crouch position, narrowing his eyes onto a magpie, he walked slowly, keeping his ears pricked. Then jumped onto the magpie. He trotted with the prey in his mouth, following GreenFoots odd scent. As soon as he reached camp, he paddled to the fresh-kill pile, dropping the freshly killed magpie onto the pile. "Hello, GoldenPaw." The old medicine cat meowed happily at him. "Hi FleaFur." He dipped his head. "What are you doing alone without GreenFoot? Aren't you supposed to be hunting until moonhigh?" FleaFur asked. "Uh... well he told me to go hunting... so I did but his scent lead me back to camp." GoldenPaw replied. "Strange, PantherStar needs a new mentor for you." FleaFur meowed. "Yes, but she said no." GoldenPaw frowned. "It's okay, one day you'll be better than him, then you can boss him around." The medicine cat joked. "Ha! Yea!" GoldenPaw played along. "Well, ThunderEye's kits were born, we have to make sure they're healthy, see you around, GoldenPaw." FleaFur dipped her head as she left into her den.
