Days passed and the two would frequently snuck off to the secret garden just to talk and enjoy each other's company. One day however a letter came to the King informing him that his Jack had been killed in an accident when returning from their trip to the Clubs Kingdom in an effort to calm tensions between the two kingdoms and prevent a war. This news put the King in a sour mood which even their alone time couldn't seem to fix but Luciano was determined to at least try and be some comfort.
Currently, they were sitting together on a bench in silence, the only sound being the nearby fish pond's fake waterfall. Getting fed up with the quiet Luciano gently used a hand to turn Allen's face towards him so he had his attention before he spoke.
"Allen, I can't stand to see you like this, won't you tell me how to ease your sorrow?"
Allen sighed and held Luciano's hands.
"I'm sorry I worried you Luci, I'm just upset over the accident and the Queen talking about already finding a replacement." Allen explained, obviously not on board with a replacement so fast.
Suddenly Luciano got an idea and looked at Allen with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"My King I have a proposal for you that could solve both our problems." Luciano spoke up.
Allen raised an eyebrow at the other, wondering what the Jack had up his sleeve.
"What is it you've thought up?" Allen questioned a little warily.
"Well as you know the relationship between the Hearts King and Queen and myself isn't the best but you also know they are looking to strengthen the alliance with your kingdom." Luciano started, stating the obvious facts.
Allen nodded showing that he was listening and agreed.
"I was thinking what if you spoke to them and your Queen and I could stay behind and take over as your temporary Jack. That way I'd be away from those two and we could spend more time together without it being suspicious." Luciano continued, explaining his full idea.
Allen was a little taken aback by the idea but slowly a smirk grew on his face as the suggestion sunk in.
"That actually sounds like a good idea, having you around will definitely help with my mental health and make life here more bearable." Allen said, agreeing with the idea and obviously pleased with the idea of having the Jack around for an extended time.
Luciano smiled brightly and hugged the King tightly, overjoyed that he'd accepted his suggestion and he wouldn't have to go back where he was unwanted.
Allen laughed a bit at the other's reaction and hugged him back.
"We should get going so we can bring up this idea to the others. The sooner we do the faster we can get things approved and signed." Allen explained while reluctantly pulling away from the embrace to stand up and offer the other a hand.
Luciano didn't want to leave their secret sanctuary but he knew that Allen was right so he just nodded and accepted the hand and stood up as well.
Leaving the garden together the King and the Jack walked down the halls side by side. Finding a palace worker the King instructed them to inform his Queen and their guests to meet him in the meeting chambers before heading there himself with the Jack not far behind.
