"Hey Lily, do you mind if Sirius and I go for a walk?"James looked over at her, and Lily nodded her agreement. She stood up and kissed her husband before he and Sirius strode off. Lily lay back and thought about her son's fifth year. It had been the hardest one to watch, followed closely by his 3rd year. There had been times when James and Lily were furious, pacing up and down because of the blood quill Umbridge used on Harry in detentions or sobbing with deep regret as they watched their son struggle through things that Lily and James could have been there to comfort him about if they were alive. One of the hardest times had been when Harry saw Severus' memories of their fifth year. When Lily had realised what Harry was about to see, she pulled James into a hug and whispered, "Whatever happens next, remember it was in the past, and we are here, together and totally in love." Those words didn't stop James from wincing and apologising for every time his 15-year old self did something stupid.

James had held Lily close when teenage Snape had called her a 'mudblood.' But what had broken Lily's heart the most was when her son risked expulsion to Floo Sirius and Remus, just to be reassured that his parents did love each other and that James hadn't tricked her into marrying him. It hit hard that her only child needed to check with his godfather and honorary uncle that she and James were in love. Lily remembered seeing lone tears roll down James' cheeks as he watched the scene unfold. Lily sighed and looked up into the golden light. "I wonder what the boys are getting up to?" She thought.

"Sirius, I-I-I don't know what to say," James told his best friend as they walked away from LIly.

"About what?" Sirius questioned his friend.

" Lily and I watched you throughout Harry's 4th and 5th year, and the end of his 3rd year, and you were like the father he never had." James paused, and he felt a lump at the back of his throat. Sirius put an arm around him, and James continued. "You were the only person to write him letters, and he talked to you about his worries that he never shared with anyone else, not even Ron and Hermione. When he saw those memories of you and Snivellus, you and Moony were the ones who reassured Harry that Lily and I love each other and that we didn't trick her into marrying me. It hurt that our son would ever doubt his parent's love, but he risked everything to talk to his father's best mates." James finished.

"Prongs really, I have been a bad godfather to harry. The worst years of his life were when I was in Azkaban, and I could have spared him so much pain if I had just kept to myself." Sirius told his friend, feeling humbled at the wave of emotion his friend had poured out.

"Padfoot, you then went and broke out of Azkaban to save my son," James told him bluntly.

"Well, I couldn't exactly let Harry have a false impression of his wonderful parents, could I?" Sirius joked, and James cracked a smile." now, let's get back to Lily and watch the boy I so heroically saved!" Sirius laughed and hugged James for a long time before the two set off back to Lily.

When James and Sirius got back to Lily, she thanked Sirius for everything he had done for Harry, before the threesome settled down and watched the moments that Above deemed important enough for them to gain birds-eye-view of the vent. James, Lily and Sirius watched as harry became Quidditch Captain of Gryffindor and attended Dumbeldore's lessons. Lily smiled every time Harry declined an invitation from Professor Slughorn and enjoyed the few glances of Potions lessons they had seen. It greatly interested them all that Harry thought that Draco Malfoy was a Death Eater and that Harry spent a lot of time trying to figure out what Draco was up to. When the trio found out that Snape gave Harry detention on the day of the Quidditch final, Sirius and James shouted angrily, and Lily's eyes glistened with unshed tears for how her former best friend had turned out, and how blatantly he hated her son. They watched Harry complete his detention on tenterhooks and were all very nervous when Harry reached the Fat lady. When they saw their son met with cheers and yells, Sirius, James and Lily joined in clapping and cheering. Whilst Lily and James looked on proudly, Sirius searched the crowd for a certain red-headed girl and grinned smugly when he saw a blazing expression on her face, not dissimilar to one that he had seen on another redhead's face some 17 years ago. James looked over at his best mate, who was smiling with an air of superiority.

"What is it mate?" James asked.

"Oh, nothing," Sirius replied airily, and James rolled his eyes. Soon enough, however, Sirius' suspicions were confirmed when Ginny Weasley rushed over to Harry and why locked lips. "Haha, I knew it!"Sirius punched the air gleefully and saw that Lily and James were hugging each other tightly.

"Our little boy's in love with, a red-head," James whispered to Lily and tucked her hair behind her ears. Lily smiled at him with tears running down her cheeks.

"Sounds like somebody else I know." She whispered, and the two of them shared a long, tender kiss before Sirius yelled.

"Oi, get a room will you?!"

"There are none, dummy!" James retorted. "Now where were we?" he whispered to his wife with a loving smile.
