Chapter 41

Kiara just kicked her legs as the two looked at each other not sure where to start. The air sparked with tension.

"So... why are the Galra here? If you don't mind me asking?" Kiara asked her a bit hesitant.

Ura lean on the cavern's wall. "Well, I'm not sure... my father didn't tell me when he sent me and my elder brother here." Ura admitted as she carefully chose her words.

Ura glanced at Kiara. "Are you sure you are not Galra?" Kiara gulped and looked to her left. "Uh..." She muttered then chewed her lip. "I'm asking because something about you just gives me this feeling." Ura said looking over to the younger alien.

Kiara met her gold eyes. "Well... I am." She finally said earn a shock stare. "I'm only half Galra though." Her blue gaze casted to the ground.

Ura was shocked. 'This kid was Galra. But she didn't look like the others. It could be because she only has a bit of Galra.' "So... you're not here to spy?"

Kiara shot her eyes up and wide. "What! No. No. The Galra shot my ship down! Why would I work with them?" Kiara asked leaping to her feet. "I'm fighting against the Empire not helping that Bloody SHOWPONY!" Kiara snapped seeing her own bewildered reflectioned back in Ura's eyes.

Then Ura started to laugh. Breaking the tension more. "Well.., I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like what Zarkon is doing. There are a handful who fight against him." Ura explains. "Me, along with a small group just want to live our lives not fighting and enslave people." Ura explained.

"I guess your brother wasn't happy when you rebelled." Kiara said leaning on the cot her hands in her pockets. Ura nodded. "You could say that. She spared my life." The two looked to see Kylo said as he enters.

"Yeah. My brother found out and gave me a choice. Fight with him and make dad proud or banishment." Kiara felt a bit of pity for her. "I'm guessing you left?" Ura nodded. "I did and over the next few years after more left. We formed a small group and we are safe from my brother and the other Sandreins." Ura explains.

Kiara wasn't sure what to think after hearing it. Ura looked sad as she told her. Ura didn't have to share it. Kylo was quite as well. Kiara looked between the two adults.

"Maybe.. I can help." Kiara offered up gaining their attention. "Help us? Why? How do you know you are not lying to us?" Kylo asked her, his black eyes narrowed.

Kiara narrows her own. "I don't break promises I make to my friends. You two could have killed me yesterday, but you spared me. With that you have my trust." Kiara looked at the two facing her black and gold eyes on her.

"What's in it for you?" Ura asked her. At first Kiara didn't know.. but now she understood. She looked between them then gathered before she spoke.

"I'm.. I'm looking for a Lion."

The room went silent. Ura and Kylo stared wide-eyed. "A Lion?" Kiara nods. "Yes, a Lion. White in color with neon V for nose and chest plate. It's roar alone means hope." Kiara explains to them as if she was a vision flash in front of her.

A large white lion behind her light glowing it was leaping. She stood in front of it. Her own body glowed.

Ura steps forwards. "I've seen it." She said glancing at Kylo. "We saw it when running from the Galra. It was huge and a strange aura about it." Ura said as Kiara's eyes sparked. "I think that's what I'm here for."

Kiara let a smile fall onto her face. "The White Lunar Lion. The Protector of the Universe, the Guardian of Peace." She felt joy fill her.

Kylo crosses his four arms. "You want us to hand it over?" His tone was sharp. Before she could speak the door flew open as a light gray and purple Sandrein stood there. "Kylo there you are." She nodded to Ura and looked at Kiara with shock.

"Nila? What's wrong? Does my dad know your here?" Kylo asked her. "No... I came alone. You two have to help please. Galra are in the village. It isn't a friendly visit."

Kiara stepped forward. "What's going on? Can I help?" She offered up looking at others.

"Who are you?" Nila asked her. Kiara gave a smirk. "My name is Kiara Rune. And I'm a member of the Voltron Alliance."

They raced to the village. "Voltron but it only a myth?" Nila said as they pushed through the trees and shrubs. Kiara was shocked both Sandreins weren't making a lot of noise. "It's no myth. Trust me.. I am part of it and see what they can do." Kiara boosted.

"Even so, is this Lion part of Voltron?" Ura asked as she grabbed Kiara by her arm as she stumbled over a root. "No. But, this Lion is meant to save lives and defend against Zarkon against any threat." Kiara hopes she wasn't lying. She had no idea if they really saw it.

Kiara froze as a wave of curiosity washed over her. Looking She saw amethyst eyes only briefly through. "Why did you stop?" Ura asked, doubling back. Kiara snapped out of her daze. "Huh? Sorry, I just thought I saw something watching me."

Ura chuckled. "Many types of animals live here, but they are scared to show themselves because of the Galra." Kiara looked around the forest. "That explains why I feel so much uneasiness." She added shaking her head.

"Come on let's get going. Our village isn't far now." Kylo said. The four took off once more. She looked behind her wondering if she saw something vanish.

"Please, what more do you want from us? You have already taken our land and families." Asked a elderly gray and gold Sandrein. Facing the dark purple skinned General. "What do I want? How about you stop playing games, foolish old man. How many more villagers can you spare?" He asked the elder.

"General, I have told you before.. We don't know what you are looking for. Take more land, be my guest, just leave this village alone." The chief pleaded his black eyes pleading. The General sneered. "Zarkon doesn't need your promotion to take what is his. Now last chance tells us where the ship crashed here and we'll leave."

The chief shook his head. "I told you everything I know." The General glared at him drawing his sword. He grabbed the chief who gave a startled cry. "Search the houses!" He shouted his sword to the chief's throat. "Leave nothing unturned!" The others murmured and the children hid scared as the soldiers advanced.

"Brother! Stop!" Ura shouted as She, Nila, Kiara and Kylo raced to the gathered group. "Ura.. what pleasant surprise." He sneered. "Drop your sword Kalos, he's not worth your time." Ura pleaded with her brother. "True.. Maybe if I threaten to kill his only heir then maybe he might," pointing his sword at Kylo. Ura stiffen in fear.

The Sandreins were watching out of fear and shock. Kiara drew her dagger. "Who are they?" one asked. "Why is Kylo with two Galra warriors?" another muttered. Kiara looked around at them with her sea-colored eyes narrowed.

"How about a trade." Kiara stepped up to stand next to Ura slipping her dagger into the sheath. "What kind of trade?" He asked her. "Kiara what are you doing?" Hissed Ura. Kiara gave her small smirk. "If you leave this village alone and their chief... I'll take you to what you are searching for." She offered stepping forward. Kalos pointed his sword at her and she froze. "Why should I believe you half breed?" He asked her.

Kiara looked at villagers. Their eyes wide with fear. Taking a deep breath. "Because.. I have a way to track it that these Sandreins don't,.. you take me with you and I'll get you what you want." She kept her gaze level as she spoke. "How do I know you won't try to betray me?" He asked her. "Because I treasure this place... I don't want them hurt anymore. You have my word as a Warrior of Voltron. I'll take you to the object you seek." Kalos smirked. "Very well. Soldiers, take her."

Something poked her from behind. "Move!" Kiara nodded and with the guards following after her. Nila ran to the chief with Kylo following after. Kiara looked back to the others. Ura and others watched as they led her off.

"You.. Inform my father.. Voltron is nearby." Kalos said to one of his lackies. "Yes. sir."
