Arie's POV:
I bit down hard on my lip as I heard the whoosh, before I felt the thick books connect to my back with a sharp thwack into my back.
They had been doing this since who knows how long.
Hitting me until I passed out or they grew tired and left.
The last thing I remember is being dragged away from a cabin.
I don't know how much time has passed, but the time has been filled with ice cold showers, and torturing.
I feel numb. Like I'm missing something or someone by my side, and no amount of missing them will bring them back.
My identity has been erased. I no longer know who I am, or the past life that I had before ending up here.
Nothing makes sense anymore.
The name they use on me feels foreign, and odd, and my head aches everytime they use it.
Winter Mist, odd and makes me want to grind my teeth.
"I have a mission for you, Mist…" A man finally said after they stopped trying to pull my nails out.
I nodded wordlessly, as I was released from my bindings.
"There's a location in Iceland, I need you to extract these vials, leave no witnesses." The man said.
I nodded before getting up and making my way towards the room I was being kept in.
I changed into my tactical gear, before pulling on my hood and mask, before heading out.
I closed my eyes, before appearing in front of the familiar.
I gasped as my mind began to ache.
Shaking my head, I slowly walked in. Snapping anyone's neck as I walked by, without even blinking.
I slowly made my way down each level, never breaking a sweat as I continued to walk down each corridor until I finally reached the control room.
I swiftly pulled out a flashdrive, jamming it into the mainframe, and typed the code I was given, transferring everything into it before ripping it out, and typing the kill code that would cause the hard drive to erase all the information, sliding the flash drive into the pocket of my vest, zipping it up, before walking away.
Now, there was no way that it could fall into hostile hands.
I smirked in satisfaction under my mask, I quickly made my way towards the lab to gather all of the things I was told to get.
The lab was tightly shut, meaning it would be taking longer than I thought to finish this.
Growling under my breath, I quickly closed my eyes and teleported into the lab.
I grabbed the thirty six vials, and stuffed them into the large carrier bag.
I pressed the button on my earpiece, before looking around.
"Paket zashchishchen.." I said before shutting it off. (The package has been secured.)
"Prevoskhodno. Vypolnyay drugiye prikazy, Mist." The man said. (Excellent. Proceed with other orders, Mist.)
"Da ser." I replied, before clicking off the earpiece, and leaving the lab, setting down a small device on the side as I did. (Yes, sir.)
I set a few other devices as I made my way up the other levels, dropping the same looking devices in the other levels I walked through as I did.
As I reached the exit, I realized my mistake.
Standing there before me was a group of fourteen people surrounding the exit.
"We're not here to hurt you." The man with a metal arm said, raising his hands towards me.
"So, you block the exit out, and stand here, all defensive, yet you aren't going to hurt me?" I asked, hugging the bag to my chest.
"We just want to talk, kid." The man in the metal red suit said.
The word kid bounced off my head, making me wince.
No, not again.
I bit down on my lip to keep myself from crying out in pain as blurry images assaulted my mind.
"Why?" I asked, stepping back, pained.
"It's been a year, Arie." The another man said.
A year? Had it really been a year since I was forced into this life? What was my life like before it?
I frowned, trying not to think of all the things that had happened to me in that year. Shaking the feeling and pain away.
"Arie? Do you mean me?" I questioned, loosening my grip on the bag.
Arie... that name sounded better than Asset Mist
"Yes, your name is Isabel Marianna Barnes…" The red metal man said.
"How do I know you're not lying to me?" I whispered, confused.
"Why would we?" The man with a metal arm asked.
"Because everyone around me has been lying to me. I can't trust my own mind. I don't know what's real and what isn't… I don't even know you..." I replied, through clenched teeth.
"We can help you…" the man dressed in all black, from head to toe said.
I stared at him, looking at him from head to toe, with a frown on my face.
"What are you supposed to be a cougar?" I asked frowning, as I tried not to wince at the pain in my head.
"Panther actually." The man replied amused.
"Hm. Good to know…" I replied, looking down at my watch. "But that's not enough for me to stay. You might want to back uhhh—" I began to say before I felt a sharp pain on the back of my head.
I gasped as I felt the bag drop from my arms before I felt myself falling.
A pair of arms caught me with a groan as everything went black.
Bucky's POV:
I watched in horror as Pietro zoomed past us, and snuck behind Arie, hitting her on the head, before he threw the bag at Steve before catching her as she fell unconscious.
"Let's go!" He called zooming past us to the quinjet.
Clint clapped my shoulder before helping me move.
"She's going to be alright." He whispered as we walked behind them.
A beeping sound began to ring through the air causing us all to turn wide-eyed as a rumbling sound followed, before a large cloud of smoke and fire arose.
"Well, I'll be damned. She took down the base single-handedly." Tony commented amused.
"That girl deserves a medal." Steve whispered amused.
I chuckled along with them before making our way towards the quinjet.
My love always finds a way to surprise us all even when we least expect it.
