By the time I was done, Bucky had come back with our food, I was sitting in the living room, watching Becca and Jamie walk around the room, exploring the room curiously as I kept a watchful eye on them.
The travel had thrown their carefully planned out schedule out the window, so now naps were a no go and they were now going to be cranky for the next two days.
It was great.
"What are you doing?" Bucky asked me, as he walked into the living room.
"Watching them. Thinking about what's going to happen now… about our future…" I sighed.
"What's worrying you…?" He asked as he set down the food in front of us.
"Well, for starters… this." I pointed down at my stomach. "How are we going to hide this from everyone for the next six to seven months?" I asked, as he handed me my milkshake.
I smiled, gratefully up at him, before putting the straw in and mixing the shake with it.
"We're not. Well, at least, not all of the pregnancy… I just— I just want us to experience this on our own." He said.
"Well, I mean we do need to go to a doctor to confirm it first, but that's pretty much all we're going to be doing for the next few months…" I replied, with a nod.
"Sounds like a plan…" He said, pulling me into a hug.
I smiled, nodding as he stared at me with a goofy smile. "What?" I asked, taking a sip of my milkshake, groaning at the taste.
Delicious, creamy, crunchy and sweet. It was exactly what I was craving along with the cheesy and greasiness of the food. I was already salivating at the thought of eating it.
"Is it true that you are going to wake up with cravings in the middle of the night?" He asked me, raising a brow at me.
I thought about giving him a smart ass answer, but opted to shrug instead, not wanting to ruin this experience for him. "Well, I mean, it did happen a few times. When it did, usually, Tony would send Steve or Happy. Oh, this one time Pietro went and came back within twenty minutes." I snorted, at the thought.
Pietro left running and came back carrying a full backpack of food.
"What did you crave?" He asked curiously.
"Hm.. let's see. Chocolate German Cake, carne asada fries, ketchup and mayonnaise on top of the cake. Oh, and then there was fudge and vanilla ice cream with sardines, and panko bread crumbs. Then there was the mustard and chocolate cake incident… Oh the garlic parmesan, chicken wings with mustard and chili sauce... " I shrugged.
"Wait, you had ketchup and mayonnaise on chocolate cake?" He asked, wrinkling his nose.
"Yeah, it was pretty good." I shrugged, licking my lips.
"So, you did get weird cravings…" He said, snorted.
"I did." I confirmed, smiling at his shocked face. "But I also loved to sit outside and smell the rain, and wet dirt in the air. Or go on long walks at night just to feel the wind bite at my cheeks… Anyway, I'm calling Sam." I mentioned, as I walked out of the room.
"Sam? What? why?" He complained, dropping his head back onto the cushion of the couch.
"Well, because he lives near here, so he'll know where I can get some chicken pot pie, and where a good doctor is available." I said as I took the bag off the coffee table.
"I thought you wanted a cheeseburger?" He called after me.
"I do… but I want chicken pot pie for dinner…" I replied, licking my lips as I set the food out.
I could hear his groan as walked to the kitchen with both kids holding his hands.
"Fine, call him, but don't tell him we live near him. Or that you're pregnant." He muttered as he sat Becca down in the high chairs that I hadn't noticed before.
I nodded moving to help him with Jamie before smirking at his annoyed expression.
"I don't see why you're so mean to him. He is so sweet. He helped me along with the others throughout the pregnancy. You should be grateful that there were so many people there for us." I commented as I set down some fruit on the kids' little tables before walking over to the counter.
"Why can't they have fries?" He asked, frowning.
"It's almost their lunch time. I prefer to have them snack on fruit before they have junk right away." I said as I took out the food.
He hummed before grabbing two boxes and sitting there across from me.
I sighed, realizing he was probably on edge because it was his first time around, while I already knew what I was in for.
I reached across the table l, smiling at him. "I love you." I told him.
"I love you too, doll." He replied, locking his lips.
I dropped my head, trying not to stare at his lips. Damn hormones. "You need to stop licking your lips so much." I warned him as I munched on a handful of fries.
"Why?" He asked, confused, as he licked them again.
"Because it's one thing to tease me. It's another thing to tease a pregnant me. You haven't experienced mood swings, so consider this your only warning." I said, smiling at him, before taking a bite out of my burger and groaning at the taste.
"What'll—?" He asked.
"Your funeral." I replied with a straight face, as my phone began to ring.
