"Blah, blah, blah. Rules. Rules. Rules," Pyra mumbled, turning to me, "where's the fun in that if we can't do what we want?"
"Beats me," I whispered, shrugging my shoulders.
Pyra tugs on my hand, "Hey."
I look to Pyra, "Hm?"
"Let me take you to the place I was telling you about," Pyra nodded her head to the direction of the forest.
I looked back to Griselda and back to Pyra.
I don't know what was going through my mind at the moment, until I smiled and nodded to Pyra.
"Let's do it."
Pyra smiles, "Alright. Follow close behind me and Fluffo," she whispered.
She grabs my hand and proceeds to lead me to the forest.
When inside the forest, Pyra leads me to a lake in the middle.
"It's beautiful!" I breathed.
"I know right?" Pyra replied, smiling.
A harmonious voice echoes throughout the forest.
"Wha-?" I mumbled in shock.
"What's wrong?" Pyra asked, looking at me.
I look her with a confused look, "You didn't hear that voice just now?"
Pyra tilted her head, "Hm? I don't hear anything..Are you playing tricks on me?"
I blinked a few times and shook my head, "Oh, never mind. Sorry, maybe it was just the wind."
Pyra nodded, "Maybe it was." Fluffo proceeds to jump into her arms.
Rosie and Tails both climb on my shoulders, as I bent down to pick up Princess.
A few moments of silence later, I suddenly get a strange feeling that we're not alone.
My thought process was interrupted by a group of chitter-chatter.
"Geez, that Codatorta sure is tough, especially towards the newbies."
Pyra and I turn our heads to the direction of the voices.
"Did you forget that Pyro and I are newbies, ourselves?" One of the boys spoke up.
I look back to Pyra to see that her eyes are open wide.
"Oh...yeah..heheh.." one of the older boys responded, scratching the back of his head, "Sorry about that."
Haha.. no worr-" the little boy responded, being interrupted.
"OH MY GOSH!!" Pyra shrieked, pointing to one of the boys, "IT'S A WILD SNORLAX!!" She grabs my hand, "C'mon!! Let's run! Hurry!"
"Ack!" I yelped as Pyra pulled me away from the boys.
"What was that all about?"
"I have no clue, Denny."
"That quiet girl..she looks familiar.."
"My younger sister is insane.."
(With me and Pyra)
Pyra and I gasped for breath as we made it back to camp.
"That was close.." Pyra panted, "I thought we were going to be eaten alive."
I nodded, standing straight back up, "Who were those boys, anyway?"
Pyra stood back up, "I know one of them is my older brother."
"Oh yeah," I remembered, "Who is your brother?"
"His name is similar to my name. His name is Pyr-O," Pyra exclaimed, enunciating her brother's name.
"I love your names. They're both really unique," I complimented.
Pyra curtsied, "Why, thank you. Thank you very much." I giggled at Pyra's accent.
"GIRLS!"
Pyra and I both jumped.
"There you are! We've been looking all around for you!"
I narrow my eyes as Pyra stands tall.
"Hi there, Ms. Griselda," she scratched her head and grinned, "We thought we heard something and decided to go investigate."
Ms. Griselda raised her eyebrow and crossed her arms, "Hm..Are you sure about that?"
"What do you mean?" Pyra asked.
"Are you sure you two didn't go off on your own like you weren't supposed to?"
I flinch, still lowering my head. Pyra, then, spoke up, "We're sure."
"Well, that's your take, missy," Griselda responded. She turns to me, "What about you, Hannah?"
"Huh?" I lift my head, shocked.
"Did you and Pyra really go investigate a noise you heard inside that forest?" Griselda repeated.
"Y-yes we did, Ms. Griselda," I replied, gulping.
Griselda looked at me, "You seem to be a little hesitant, Hannah. I do hope everything is alright and you're not lying to me."
I began to stroke my hair as a coping mechanism, "I-I'm sure..I-I am just shy, is all."
She looked at me for a moment and then nodded, "Alright, if you're sure. Allow me to escort you girls to the headmistress' office."
"What?? Why??" We asked together.
"She wants to have a word with you," Griselda responded.
Pyra and I reluctantly follow Griselda to Faragonda's office.
Once we had arrived outside her office, Griselda knocked on the grand doors.
"Come in, come in!" Faragonda greeted as she opened the door. We walk on inside and look around in awe. "Go ahead and take a seat, girls."
Pyra and I sat down at the two chairs sitting in front of her desk. I was legitimately shaking as I never got sent to the principal's office before. I look over at Pyra and she had her fist clenched.
"Girls? What's the matter? You know you're not in trouble, right?" Faragonda asked as she came towards her desk.
Griselda walked towards us holding a tea kettle, "Here. Drink it while it's hot. It'll help ease your nerves," she proceeds to hand us each a cup.
"Thank you," we thanked together.
Pyra took a sip of the tea, but I was too anxious to even take a small sip. I set the cup on the desk.
"What did we do wrong?" Pyra blurted out.
Faragonda motioned for Pyra to sit back down. When she sat back down, Faragonda finally spoke up, "You girls did nothing wrong. I called you here because I heard that you went off to the forest without an adult. Now, I know you two weren't completely alone," she looks to Fluffo, Rosie, Tails, and Princess.
"Chiko, chiko?!"
"Vee?!"
Tails and Princess stay close to me.
Faragonda laughs, "You have very lively Pokémon. Don't worry, I won't send them home."
Our Pokémon breathe a sigh of relief.
"But, Ms. Faragonda, the rules clearly say that-" Griselda began.
She narrows her eyes towards Griselda, "These girls' Pokémon are harmless and it looks as though they treat them with love and care. Do you think that's what a fairy has as she grows up?"
Griselda paused to think for a moment, and then nodded in understanding.
"Wait...so we're not in trouble?" Pyra spoke up.
Faragonda shook her head, "No, you are not in trouble. I just want to hear what you saw or heard in the forest."
I looked up and Pyra looked at me.
Faragonda raised an eyebrow, "It looks as though Hannah knows something..go on dear."
"Well..." I began, "I heard a beautiful, harmonious voice as we gazed upon the lake."
She sat up, "A voice, hm? Did it sound familiar to you?"
I shook my head, "No, I was distracted by how beautiful it was."
"Hm..I see.." Faragonda folded her hands and nodded, "Was there something else there besides that voice?"
Pyra and I look at each other and try not to burst out laughing.
"What's so funny, girls?" Griselda asked.
"Oh..tehe..." I giggled, "Pyra and I ran into a group of four boys..."
"Oh. So you ran into the-"
"WE THOUGHT ONE OF THEM LOOKED LIKE A SNORLAX!" Pyra blurted out.
Faragonda blinked. Griselda stared at Pyra wide-eyed.
"AND THEN WE THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO EAT US!!"
"And that's when we ran away."
"Well..." Faragonda paused, "That was not a very nice thing to say to him, was it?"
"Well, we didn't say it to his face.." I began.
"I spoke out when I saw him," Pyra explained, "Hannah and I were just hanging out at the lake when th-"
"It was still not nice at call someone out like that!" Griselda scolded. I flinched as Pyra turned to look at her.
"Now, now, Griselda. Don't be so hard on the girls."
I turned back towards Faragonda. Her gentle smile rests upon her face.
"I'm sure it was all a misunderstanding," she began, flashing her eyes to us, "The girls might have been exhausted moving their belongings, not to mention their energetic Pokémon with them."
Princess, my Caterpie, scooched back under my hair. Rosie, my Chikorita, and Tails, my Fennekin, let out shocked whines. Pyra's Eevee, Fluffo, lets out a shocked cry.
Faragonda laughed. Griselda raised an eyebrow.
"Well..you know that they'll have to go back home, right?" Griselda spoke up, interrupting the long, dead silence that followed Faragonda's statement.
I narrowed my eyes and hugged Rosie and Tails.
"No way we're sending our Pokémon back home!" Pyra leapt up.
"Ms. Pyra!" Griselda raised her voice a little louder.
"We're not going to, girls. Don't worry," Faragonda spoke up, "You're free to go back to your cabin."
I looked up and locked eyes with Pyra.
"Really?" We asked together.
Faragonda nodded and Griselda gave her a confused look.
Pyra and I got up with our Pokémon, happily singing as we walked out.
