I open my eyes in a bright, white room.
"Augh!" I yelped, shielding my eyes.
"Sh! Sh! She's awake!"
"Hannah! How are you feeling?!"
"Ah-eh-ah..." I yelped again, being shaken furiously.
"Girls! Give the girl space! She just woke up for goodness sake!" The nurse handed me warm tea, "Here, drink this to help replenish your strength."
I accepted the tea and took a sip. I gently set it back down on the tray.
"What happened? How did I end up here?" I asked, confused.
Natalie, Tyeesa, and Kailey exchanged glances.
"Kaden went off his rockers," Kailey spoke up.
"He beat you to a pulp. We tried to pull him off of you, but he threw us off," Tyeesa explained.
"Until Ms. Ivory and Mr. Silver pulled Kaden back as Nurse Mikan came and brought you here," Natalie added.
"T-that's right!" Mikan chimed in, "You w-were knocked out pretty good!"
I look down and squeeze the bed sheets, "Why would he do this?"
"He has really bad anger issues.." Natalie answered.
"Are you sure there's more to it than that?" I replied, looking out the window.
The girls looked to one another.
"U-uhm, girls?" Mikan stepped up, "I t-think you should give her some space."
Kailey walked closer, "No. We're staying with Hannah."
Nurse Mikan shook her head, "I already called her guardian to come pick her up...so I-I really think you all should head back to class."
Natalie, Tyeesa, and Kailey nodded and left the nurse's office.
"There. You should be free to rest until Elizabeth comes," she turned to me, with her hands folded.
"Wait..." I reached out my hand to Mikan, "Where's my Pokémon?"
She smiled and walked over to her desk, "They're right here," she grabbed three poké balls and placed them on the bed.
"Thank you," I thanked as I let out Rosie, Tails, and Princess.
"Mmhm! Elizabeth should be on her way right now, but I'll stay here to monitor you for the time being," she mentioned.
I nodded, looking down at my Pokémon. They smiled and whined; I smiled back weakly. It hurts...all over...my head, ribs...I can hardly move...
"D-Does it hurt?" Y-your bandages?" Mikan asked nervously, full of concern.
"O-only a little," I replied, blinking.
The phone rings. Nurse Mikan answered the phone. "Okay. Yeah, she's here resting. Okay, see you here.." she hung up the phone and watches the door.
"W-who w-was t-that just n-now?" I asked, stuttering.
Mikan turned around, "She's coming, darling, don't wor-Hannah? Are you alright?"
I did not respond. Instead, I just kept blinking.
Mikan rushed around the room...looking for something...but I can't tell what...
"Hannah! Hang in there! It's going to be okay! It's going to be okay..It's going to be okay..." Mikan's voice steadily grows quieter...then my head thumped against the pillow behind me...
