Chapter 19

I've worked for Quick Shot for a few years now. I was by his side when he was a nobody. I helped him rise to the top. When he was happy I was happy. When he was mad I did whatever it took to make him happy again. I took the prunt of his aggression and passion many times. But Quick shot was never satisfied with just one toy for an extended amount of time. So, I watched him pick up the ferret he called his good luck charm. Thus, giving her the nickname, Lucky. Lucky was a beauty that many were envious of Quick Shot for having. But I wasn't so idiotic to think he valued her as a partner. No, she was nothing but a fun outlet for our boss. Everyone who worked for him knew her value to Quick Shot. This is probably why no one was keeping a closer eye on her. And during the panic of Quick Shot being arrested no one noticed her absence…nor cared. When I helped take care of that pesky witness, I thought all we had to worry about was Quick Shots blood at the crime scene. I figured with the right lawyer they could argue it was circumstantial enough to be dismissed. That was the plan, anyway. Until a certain spy reported seeing Lucky at the ZPD Headquarters. While others went to see what she was doing there I felt the urge to check something else. Quick Shot had a personal computer, we all did, that contained some 'sensitive' information. I checked it carefully and at first, found nothing. Until I checked a little further with some help from a computer lackey we owned. And he unpleasantly informed me that a few of Quick Shot's folders were downloaded onto a thumb drive.

"What'cha sayin' Dean." A Tiger, that Quick Shot recently hired before his arrest, asked. "This Bitch…stole from Boss?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying."

I sent a message asking Quick Shot for permission before doing anything first. And he immediately responded, take care of Lucky and destroy the thumb drive. So, I sent the stupid Tiger to the location our spy sent us. I was highly disappointed to find out that not only was the thumb drive not located. But also, Lucky and the rabbit she's hiding behind wasn't there. So, then I asked the tiger to follow and observe. Boy, was I surprised to find out that, that little rabbit had some strong connections? Once I knew the Shadow was now involved, I visited Quick Shot for guidance.

"Dean." Quick Shot greeted behind the glass panel.

"Boss."

"What brings you here?" Quick Shot leaned forward. "I hope it's good news."

"Sorry to disappoint, Boss. But I have news for you."

"I'm listening."

I adjusted my glasses before answering nervously.

"Lucky is under the protection of Officer Judy Hopps. Who has connections with…the Shadow."

"…"

"…"

"Dean, my friend, you remember what our end goal is, don't you?"

"Yes."

"Then I just see this as a step closer to achieving that plan."

With Quick Shots guidance, I was able to track down the location of Lucky and Judy. Then I made the executive decision to also hire a few Hunters. Which was extremely difficult since most were under the Shadow's payroll. But I managed, like I always do, to see Quick Shot's plan into reality. But somehow the cop knew, she knew we were coming. And in the process of trying to break down the door. I lost eight of Quick Shot's men.

He'll be mad about that later. I realized.

"Don't just stand there!" I ordered. "I'm paying you to hunt, so hunt!"

Immediately the trio of wolves set to work on following Lucky's sent. Which was easier when they found a shirt of hers that she had left behind. The Hunters knowing exactly what to seek, scent-wise, because of that shirt wasted no time tracking. It was very interesting instructing ten men to stay behind and search the house. While fifteen…ish had to take turns going down what was essentially a hidden slide. I went last, of course, and watched as the Hunters led Quick Shot's men towards Lucky. But when they paused behind a tree for a while, I grew irritated.

"What is the hold-up?" I asked making my way to the front of the group.

"The rain is making it hard to track the sent."

"Isn't that why I hired three of you…work together!"

This seemed to have knocked some sense into the canines. As they headed off after the scent most like Lucky's. I was excited, Quick Shot would be happy with me again when I present him Lucky's head. Then he wouldn't need another toy as an outlet again. I, Dean, his number two, the weasel who always stood by him. I will be there and not that bitch called Lucky. I will be the one who keeps him warm in bed. Just like we used to be, when Quick Shot had no toy to release his energy on, I will be his toy. But first I need that bitch's head.

"Uh…Boss?" One of the wolves called coming to a stop.

"What!?" I was irritated with anticipation at the thought of Quick Shot getting out of jail and then praising me.

I watched the wolf as he pointed ahead at the top of a hill. I looked in the direction he pointed to see a shadow standing there defiantly against our group.

"Ha, feeling cocky now, are we?" I laughed. "No wonder Boss insisted on calling you Lucky. You always acted as if you were the luckiest-"

I trailed off as when lightning struck behind the figure their ears rose high above their head. No ferret has ears that big. It was a rabbit; it was Officer Judy Hopps.

"You bitch! How did you- doesn't matter. Where is Lucky?"

The cop stayed quiet before straightening her stance to address me and the group.

"I am Officer Judy Hopps from the Zootopia Police department!" She yelled. "Lay down your weapons, place your hands behind your head, and get on your knees. If you comply, I will inform the judge at your hearing about your cooperation."

Is this rabbit serious? I had to ask myself.

Most of Quick Shot's men just laughed, the Hunters were too busy trying to figure out how they got the scent wrong, while I decided to call this rabbit out on her bluff.

"Oh, yeah? You and what army? Because if you haven't noticed little bunny, you're outnumbered and outgunned."

The cop continued to stand there defiantly.

"Fine then." I muttered annoyed. "Give me your gun. Stand Down!" I didn't feel like getting shot today by their stupidity.

I approached the rabbit who stood defiantly on the hill with a gun in my hand. She never faltered in her stance, if anything she stood straighter in defiance of my threat to her life. Once I stood an arm's length away from her, I pointed the gun at her head. Her eye never wavered from mine as we stared each other down. She was a pretty little thing; Quick Shot would have loved her as a toy.

"The clothes you are wearing don't really suit you…you switched with Lucky, didn't you?"

She remained quiet. I adjusted my glasses as an idea came to mind.

"Tell you what. In exchange for your life, you let my men detain you and you give me Lucky's location. Sound good?"

"…"

"Defiant little bitch, aren't you?" I laughed as I cocked the gun. "No matter."

BANG!
