Prompt: With Zephyr's day a disaster, Hiccup sings her a little song to pick her daughter right back up.
Song: Fix Anything from Elena of Avalor (On Yeosan's channel)
I've been wanting to do a song-fic from this show for awhile. I've got three lined up, and this is the first. And to TheDragonWriter4ever, I promise to get to your other requests as soon as I figure out how to write them out. I've got the premises, but I'm still struggling with the layout.
Fix Anything
When Zephyr got home, it worried Hiccup to see her daughter looking so glum, her tail limp as she walked with her head down. Hiccup walked to Zephyr's room, hearing her yell out her frustrations.
"I bet she even howls at the moon", she sounded to be mocking. There was a loud thump, like something being thrown, and then a clang. "OW!"
Slowly, Hiccup opened the door, and saw Zephyr hopping on one foot, holding the other. "Knock, knock", she said with the door slightly open, knocking lightly as she said it.
"Go away", Zephyr turned her head from her.
Hiccup sighed, and walked in anyway. "Did you have trouble making friends today?" she asked softly.
Zephyr nodded, retreating to sit on the bed.
"Do you want to tell me about it?" Hiccup followed and sat beside her.
"They all think I'm a freak."
Hiccup was taken back by that, remembering her own childhood. Luckily Zephyr couldn't see her face. "A freak", Hiccup stated matter of factly.
"Yeah. They think we're all freaks of nature."
Hiccup gave an internal sigh. She'd hoped this day would never come. She didn't want her children feeling like they had to hide their scales. They shouldn't have to. "Well, then I feel sorry for them", she decided to say.
"Why?" Zephyr looked up at her. If her daughter had dragon ears, they'd be perked.
"Because they're missing out on the chance to get to know the sweetest, smartest, most special little girl in the entire archipelago", Hiccup praised, hugging her precious little girl.
It did more harm than good.
"Mom", she pushed out of the hug. "Don't you get it? I don't want to be special! Not if it means kids won't like me! I just want kids to like me."

Her mom just didn't get it. Everyone thought she and Nuffink were freaks. Mistakes. Just like their mom. No one said anything because she was the chief, but behind their mom's back kids talked. They said the adults were crazy for trusting freaks of nature like them. Sure, there were stories of dragons and how they were companions and allies of Old Berk—her mom talked about the Night Fury, Toothless, almost non-stop—but it didn't change the fact that they weren't normal. No one else was like them; no other 'Halfings' to be seen. And there certainly weren't any stories being told of them either. They weren't supposed to exist. And everyone made fun of them for it. Her family may be ignorant to it, but after today, trying to play with the other kids in the square, Zephyr certainly wasn't.

Hiccup sighed, unsure how to fix this. She'd have to talk to Aric about this, but it wasn't going to be a short and easy problem to fix. All she could do right now was encourage Zephyr; make her feel better. But she wasn't even sure on how to do that. That's when she spot Zephyr's bag on the floor, it's strap broken. Hiccup's ears suddenly perked up, a lantern lighting in her head. She turned to her daughter.
"I know it doesn't seem like it, but things will get better", Hiccup assured.
"How do you know?" Zephyr asked.
"How do I know? Because you're a Haddock. And the Zephyr I know can fix anything."
Zephyr looked at her questioningly.
Hiccup rose and walked to her daughter's bag, picking it up. "What do you see?" she asked.
"My broken bag?" Zephyr answered uncertainly.
"Well, yes, but what else?" Hiccup hinted by taking hold of the snapped strap.
Zephyr thought for a moment. "A problem to fix", she answered, a certain determined look showing on her face.
"Exactly", Hiccup said, and with Zephyr, the two went to the desk.
(Start song at 43 sec.)
"You've got a challenge ahead; your face starts to light up..." After thinking for a moment, Zephyr seemed to have the perfect solution. Measuring the strap, Zephyr sifted through some clamps to find the perfect size. Then she cut and shaved the broken ends, before fitting the clamp in between. Smiling wide, Zephyr presented her new satchel. "…There's nothing that you love more. Solving impossible problems is what you live for!" Hiccup picked her up and spun in praise.
"There's no knot you can't untwist!…" Zephyr caught and perfectly untied the knotted rope Hiccup threw. "…Like a cog that ticks…" Hiccup took a cog from the desk. "Zephyr, you can fix anything…" Hiccup knelt, placing a hand on her shoulder. "You can fix anything!"
Hiccup dragged Zephyr to the window, a group of kids passing by."If making friends were on an exam, I know you'd ace the test. Just treat it as a puzzle", she dragged her back. "You'll figure out the rest!"
"Maybe you're right, mom", Zephyr said.
"I am! You'll see", Hiccup encouraged. "Cause there's…" Hiccup took flight, pointing at Zephyr.
"No way…" Zephyr jumped and matched her height.
"Like a gear that ticks", Hiccup flew around Zephyr.
"An idea just clicks", Zephyr followed Hiccup.
" "With...!" " The two stopped and hovered in front of each other.
"I can fix!" Zephyr pointed confidently.
"You can fix!" Hiccup directed encouragingly.
"Anything!"
"You can...", Hiccup landed.
"I can...", Zephyr hovered down to her mom's level.
" "Anything" ", they hugged close.
"Thanks, mom", Zephyr landed. "I know just what to do."
"I knew you would", Hiccup said softly, cupping her daughter's cheek. She left and closed the door to her daughter's room hoping to see a smiling face come morning.

When her mom left, Zephyr's tail and wings drooped as a frown marred her face.
"There's no challenge I can't meet…" Sulking to her desk, Zephyr took a box out from underneath and one by one, papers, tools, and books were all placed inside. "…Like a cog that ticks an idea just clicks…" Moving to her nightstand, she took a hand held mirror, seeing her human face. "...I can even fix me."
Looking at herself, Zephyr knew exactly what she needed to do.
