Prompt: Fed up with Snotlout's bullying, and thinking he can walk all over her, Hiccup vents to Toothless and the dragons in the forest.
Song: Roar by Katy Perry (another request from 124gp96cdx5, formally TheDragonWriter4ever)
Roar:
"Ugh! Why does Snotlout have to be so…Agh!" Hiccup loudly exclaimed as she and Toothless flew into the forest. Snoggletog was coming up in a few weeks, the very first one they'd celebrate with the dragons, but as Hiccup was merely expressing her excitement of it, Snotlout had just belittled everything she said. It wasn't even the things she said he was mocking, it was just her. Toothless landed, trees secluding Hiccup's rant as she dismounted and began to pace. "I mean, is it so hard to not interrupt and mock me every five seconds? Why does he think he can just walk all over me all the time?"
As Hiccup was venting to her dragon, her voice and words were catching the attention of the surrounding dragons nearby. Their heads peaked through the trees, wondering what the half breed girl was ranting about. (Start Song)
"Well I'm sick of it. I'm not the same hiccup I was before, and it's time he starts realizing that. I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath…", Hiccup continued on. Her hands shot out wildly, always expressive in her body's movements. Even her dragon parts were, as her wings furled out, her tail waved like water or thrashed like a blazing fire behind her, or the way her ears perked up or pinned down against her head. "…He held me down, but I got up…" she began brushing herself off. She came up to Toothless and cupped her perked ear, "…like thunder gonna shake the ground. He held me down, but I got up. Get ready…" Hiccup swiped her hand through the air with her words. The surrounding dragons stepped forward from the trees.
"I got the heart of a Fury…" she sang with confidence. She wanted everyone, especially Snotlout, to know it. She wasn't the same girl she was before. She was so much more now. "...and you're gonna hear me roar…" she continued on, "…louder than that Nightmare…" she brushed Snotlout's brash voice off, "…and they're gonna hear me…!"
She jumped onto Toothless and they took off. A few of the surrounding dragons took off as well, now curious where the half breed's song was going. They flew over the forest, a few Nadders, Nightmares, and Gronckles, following beside or behind the duo as Hiccup continued.
"Now I'm floating…" she smiled contently, then thrust one arm out like a stinger. "I went from zero, to my own he…―Thanks to you, bud. He held me down…", determined eyes went forward. She was just so sick of the same old story. Toothless and the dragons dived back down into the trees. But it didn't have to be anymore. He didn't have to have power over her. Maybe he never had to from the start. She lent against Toothless more, and speed picked up.
"…I got the heart of a Fury…!" they breached through the trees and Hiccup leaped off, gliding through the air for a few moments before colliding with Toothless once more into an aerial flip. "…and you're gonna hear me roar!" Hiccup exclaimed. "…louder than that Nightmare…" The dragons around them howled and roared in cheer, some doing flips as Hiccup and Toothless rounded back. "…and they're gonna hear me roar!"
She didn't expect immediate respect, nor was she going to force any. That wasn't her, and that wasn't what she wanted. But she was going to put a stop to Snotlout's bullying. Because that's all it was. Just petty bullying. "You'll hear me roar", Hiccup looked down to Toothless.
"They're gonna hear me roar." They all paused back at the clearing, Hiccup hopping off. As the dragons landed, she took a deep breath. "Roar…" she began quietly, before it turned louder, and louder, until...
"ROOOOAAAARRR!"
A true roar came.
"I got the heart of a Fury…!" the dragons, including Toothless, roared in tandem, and Hiccup smiled bright, dancing with the moment. She felt so much lighter now than she had at the start, and the dragons knew it too. Suddenly a Nightmare's head scooped her up and tossed her into the air, Hiccup caught by a Nadder doing an aerial flip. Hiccup leaped off into Toothless, the dragon flopping back with Hiccup on his stomach, the two laughing. "…Hear me ROAR!" The two rose, and Hiccup was bombarded with dragon licks and nudges, especially from Toothless. "They're gonna hear me roar", she looked to Toothless, her brother affectionately nudging her cheek. "You'll hear…!" she hugged him tight. Hiccup laughed as the others tried joining. "You're gonna hear me roar."
Laughter ensued, both from Hiccup and each of the dragons, Hiccup flopping back into the grass in joy. Once it died, Hiccup and Toothless returned to the village, finding their friends rather quickly.
"Hiccup, there you are", Aric said as they landed. "We were starting to get worried."
"Not me. Go cry all you want out there", Snotlout said, his arms crossed.
'Just ignore it', Hiccup told herself. She wasn't going to let him affect her anymore. Her eyes rolled, brushing it off.
"Actually", she then said, "I was thinking we have a little best trick competition. Anyone in?"
"Of course!" Astrid was the first to exclaim. "I've been waiting to showoff our new stunts. Right, girl?"
Stormfly squawked in affirmation.
"Wait, what if we don't have one?" Fishlegs asked.
"Then you better think of one quick", Aric said as he hopped onto Shadowstar.
"Just do your best, Fishlegs", Hiccup assured. "We'll meet over on the sea stacks, okay?"
"Oh, we'll be there!" Ruffnut exclaimed atop Barf.
"And we'll have the trickiest trick you ever saw!" Tuffnut followed, and the two flew off on their dragon.
"Ha!" Snotlout voiced as he made his way to Hookfang. "If anyone's winning this thing, it's gonna be me", he exclaimed, and Hookfang took off.
As her friends flew off, Snotlout and Hookfang at the rear, Hiccup turned to Toothless with a playful little smirk. "We'll see about that, won't we bud."
"Let's roar", Toothless chuffed. Hiccup hopped on, and the two were off.
Hope you liked it. Next up is Sound of Surviving for our favorite girl, Heather. After that, I'll be starting Race to the Edge, as she's gonna be rocketing us into it ;)
Until then.
