Chapter 2: Back At Home
Inspired by the anime My Hero Academia / Boku no Hero Academia. I do not own any of the characters except for my OC, Okami Shizen, and her family. Credit goes to Kohei Horikoshi, the creator. Hope you enjoy!
Part One
We had already taken the written exam before the practical, so we were able to head straight home afterwards. Midoriya sought me out at the front gate, along with Iida and Mina. As our group of six was headed towards the exit, Mina and Midoriya came barrelling up to us, with Iida behind them screaming, "STOP RUNNING, YOU MIGHT TRIP AND FALL!" and a brown-haired, pink-cheeked girl I hadn't met before.
"Midoriya-kun! Mina-chan! How was the exam?" I asked.
"It went really great! I might have some hope," said Mina. "I know I flunked the written exam; I'm no good with books."
"It went terrible," groaned Midoriya. "I didn't get a single point. I'm going to be be flat-out rejected." He started to mutter, "But if I did well enough in the written examination, I might just get lucky… although I can't be sure that I got all the questions right, especially the one on Best Jeanist or that other one on rescue priorities, but we weren't really taught that in middle school so they can't really expect us to know that kind of stuff… or maybe it's one of the requirements to get accepted into UA, to have read more widely than the school curriculum –"
"Midoriya-kun! Breathe!" Iida shouted, chopping the air like a traffic guard.
Midoriya took a deep breath.
"Deku-kun! Are you okay now?" the pink-cheeked girl asked.
"I'm fine, Uraraka-san. Thanks."
"Deku? Useless? Is that supposed to be a nickname?" I asked.
"Oh… it's what Kacchan calls me, you know, to make fun of me. Uraraka-san just overheard Kacchan calling me that and thought it was my real name."
"Speaking of Kacchan," I scowled, "want to know what Bakugo did during the exam?"
"Let it go, Shizen-kun," Monoma said, patting my shoulder. "His decisions are his decisions."
"I don't think I know you," mused Midoriya. "Why don't we have a group introduction, since at this point, I really don't know who knows or doesn't know everyone.
"Izuku Midoriya," he offered.
"Tenya Iida."
"Ochako Uraraka."
"Tsuyu Asui. Kero."
"Eijiro Kirishima."
"Kyoka Jiro."
"Mina Ashido!"
"Yui Kodai."
"Neito Monoma."
"Okami Shizen."
"Nice to meet all of you!" exclaimed Uraraka.
"I would tell you about what happened, but now Kacchan's here." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Bakugo strutting out of the gates with his hands in his pockets, as if he owned the place.
"Does everyone here have a phone?" Yui softly asked.
Everybody fished out their phones from their bags. "We do, why?"
"Well, I was thinking maybe we could create a group chat to discuss what happened and learn more about each other."
"That's a great idea!" I exclaimed. "After all that's happened today, I never want to lose touch with any of you here."
We set up a group chat in WhatsApp and named it "The Guys Who Met At UA".
Tenya Iida: Hello.
Pinky: Hiiiiiii
Copy-paste: Hi
Broccoli: Hello! :)
Wolfy: Hi
Enlargement Function: Hey
Manly Rock: Hi :)
Floaty: Heyyyy
Rock 'n Roll: Hello
Froggy: Hi
"Floaty?" Monoma raised his head to look at everyone. "Who's Floaty?"
"Who's Copy-paste?" Uraraka asked. "I'm Floaty, that's for my Quirk, Zero Gravity."
"I'm Copy-paste. My Quirk is Copy." To demonstrate, Monoma touched my arm and grew wolf ears.
"Wow, I have so many questions! Monoma-kun, can you –"
"You could just use the group chat, Midoriya-chan." Tsuyu suggested. "Some of us really need to get home."
"Oh, okay! I'll do that. Bye, everyone!"
"Bye, guys!" Mina exclaimed as she left with Kirishima.
"See you around!" Jirou said, one earphone jack already in her MP3 player.
"I have to go. It was great meeting you! Bye!" Yui said.
"Bye!" Uraraka and Tsuyu said.
"I do hope we meet again. But for now, I must get home for an urgent appointment with my brother. Goodbye!"
"Bye, Iida-kun!"
"Are you going to leave soon, Neito?" I asked Monoma.
"I thought we could talk about what just happened… and more about you," he said after a moment's pause.
"Great, do you want to go to Starbucks right now? I haven't had my morning coffee today and I'm really feeling the pinch," I said, making him laugh.
"Sure, just now must have been tiring for you."
I was shocked. "You know about that?"
He chuckled. "I overheard your conversation with Midoriya when I was walking past you."
"I… didn't notice you."
"You didn't know me."
"True." I laughed.
When we got to the nearest Starbucks, I asked Monoma what he wanted.
He just replied, "What you're having."
Luckily, there was an empty table available, and we sat down.
"So… personally, I think Bakugo will qualify for UA. He may not have the right attitude, but his talent will be all they need to be convinced."
"That may be true," Monoma said, "but you may be able to do something about it. Would you say that you're okay in academics?"
"I do fine."
"And judging your performance in the practical, you should be set on both counts. You should – no – will get into UA, and you can give him a piece of your mind, or else outshine him generally. There shouldn't be much trouble for you."
"Neito…"
"It is true, I know it," Monoma said, his dull blue eyes looking for all the world as if they could see deep into the recesses of my soul, into my innermost thoughts. "It's not like I have that ability to be a hero, no matter how much I try. My Quirk depends on others' to work, and… let's just say, the society as a whole won't take kindly to a Hero who's dependent on other Pros. I'd be better off as a sidekick, though that's not what I want to be. I want to be independent, so if I'm thinking as far as my future as an adult, I may not want to go into the Hero profession."
"No! I can help you. We could be a duo… no, a trio! With whoever can lend you their Quirks. Not everyone has a Quirk like yours. If, for example, you teamed up with Endeavour or even All Might, there'd be two great Pro Heroes for any job! So don't say you can't be a hero. I know you can."
"Okami… can I call you that?"
"Yes, I'm fine with it. Neito, look at me," I said firmly. Monoma was staring at the ground. "Working and collaborating with others does not constitute dependence on others, it just means that you are independent enough to realize how to make the most of your abilities, so-"
"OKAMI!"
"Wait, wha-" Monoma gasped in shock when a tall boy with dark buzz-cut hair barrelled up to our table and abruptly stopped, making a rush of wind blow over us.
"Inasa!" I exclaimed gleefully.
"Yes, it is I! Do I know you?" Inasa asked, pointing to Monoma.
"No, I don't know you…?" Monoma trailed off, thoroughly confused.
"I'm Inasa Yoarashi, Okami's childhood friend. Did you get a new best friend when I didn't notice?" He turned to me.
"No, I just met him today, although he's already a good friend."
"Thanks," Monoma replied, looking intimidated at the sight of the overzealous Inasa towering over him. "I'm Neito Monoma."
"Any friend of Okami's is a friend of mine, so OHAYO GOZAIMASU, MONOMA-KUN!" Inasa exclaimed, bowing so deeply that he hit the table with his forehead.
"Wha - What? There's really no need for that…" Monoma stared at Inasa in shock. "Are you okay?"
"He does this on a regular basis, which is whenever he visits or we run into each other. Luckily, we're at a table. He usually does this with the floor," I groaned in dismay. "Look, there's already a bruise forming, you want to get to my house to have that iced!"
"Okay, but only because I want to see Takawa again."
"He may have his friends over again," I said, grimacing. "You sure?"
"That just makes it even better!"
"Who is Takawa?" Monoma asked.
"He's my brother who's in his third year in UA next year."
"Do you mind if I come along? Because I know we just met and all, and you may not be comfortable with it, so…"
"No, it's perfectly fine! Inasa was planning to visit anyway, so she won't mind one more person."
"Thanks, I really appreciate it."
"If you're done now, we could go right now," Inasa said.
"Sure." Monoma and I stood up.
"Just one question," said Monoma. "How many siblings do you have?"
"It's just my older brother, my little sister and me."
"Perfect," Monoma said. I didn't know what he meant by that.
After a few minutes' walk, we were at my family home. I unlocked the door, only to find my little sister Suzume waiting at the door to hug me. "Onee-chan, you're back! And Inasa-chan too!"
"Suzu-chan! Did Onii-chan have his friends over again?"
"Yes, he's upstairs with Togata-kun, Amajiki-kun, Nejire-chan and Yuyu-chan."
"Gaming?"
"You got it!"
"How many times has Togata-kun fallen through the floor?"
"Four times!"
"That's the number of rounds he won, then. Neito, do you want to meet my brother?"
Suzume hadn't noticed Monoma until then. "Who's this guy, Onee-chan? He looks evil."
"Evil?" Monoma spluttered.
"Suzu, this is Neito. He helped me out a lot at the entrance exam."
"Want to see a trick?" Monoma asked Suzume playfully.
"Okay, Neito-san!"
Monoma tapped my shoulder and copied my Quirk.
"Wow, you have the same Quirk as Onee-chan?"
"No, I copied it," Monoma explained.
"Copycat!"
"What?"
"I said you're a copycat!"
"Suzu, he's a friend. For me?"
"Okay. For you. Onee-chan's friends are my friends!"
Monoma chuckled. "Thank you, Suzu-chan."
He turned to me. "Am I allowed to call her that?"
I smiled. "Be my guest."
"I already am."
We all burst into laughter.
Part Two
Suddenly, we saw a blur fall through the ceiling.
"Okami-kun, Inasa-kun! You're back from the entrance exam?"
"TOGATA-SAN, PLEASE PUT ON SOME CLOTHES," I shrieked.
"Okay, see you upstairs!"
"Who – or what – was that?" Monoma looked intensely traumatised.
I groaned. "My brother's friend, Mirio Togata. He has a Permeation Quirk. Unfortunately, his Quirk makes him phase through his clothes."
"How many times have you seen that?"
"Far too many, but don't worry, Togata-san is the most unusual of Onii-san's friends, although he's one of the more cheerful ones. Do you want to go meet the rest of them?"
"If they're in UA, definitely. I'd like to know about the best hero school in Japan, definitely."
We walked up the stairs to my brother's bedroom. I knocked on the door. "Togata-san, do you have your clothes on?"
"Yes!" We heard Mirio's muffled voice.
"Okay, we're coming in!"
Tentatively opening the door and sighing in relief at the sight of a fully clothed Mirio, Inasa rushed over to Takawa, peering over his shoulder. "Shizen-kun, you're playing Among Us?"
"Yes, I am," my brother replied, absorbed in the game. "Hi, Imoto-chan."
"Hey, Onii-san. This is the third week in a row you've had your friends over?"
"Yeah, next year is our last year in UA and it'll be tougher than ever, so we wanted to get some fun in this year," my brother's friend, Nejire Hado, said while smirking at the sight of Takawa's avatar getting ejected. "Every time. Every time!"
"Hi, Nejire-chan, Yuyu-chan!"
"How did the entrance exam go?" Tamaki Amajiki, my brother's other friend, asked. "I remember stuffing myself with takoyaki beforehand."
"It was fine, Amajiki-kun," I said, greeting Tamaki. "Actually, a lot more than fine! Neito and I teamed up with a bunch of people and we kicked lots of robot butt."
"So the new guy I saw is Neito?" Mirio said, smirking. "I don't see you inviting anyone else home."
Monoma was flushed with embarrassment. "I'm Neito Monoma, I met Okami today like everyone else, but they had to leave, and we were talking just now. Ohayo gozaimasu," Monoma said, bowing.
"Neito, this is Mirio Togata, Nejire Hado, Tamaki Amajiki, Yuyu Haya and my brother, Takawa." They nodded at Monoma in acknowledgement.
"I see you're on first-name terms," Yuyu pointed out. "Are you this friendly with anyone, Okami-chan?"
"I wouldn't say so, but we really did bond over the whole experience and he's a great person."
"Well, Monoma-kun, know that few people outside the family, including Imoto-chan's childhood friend from way back, Inasa, are on first-name terms with her. Consider yourself honoured," said Takawa.
"I – I – What –"
" has apparently stopped working," laughed Nejire. "I don't know what Takawa-kun means, but Okami-chan must see you as a good friend."
"I do."
Takawa and Mirio started to guffaw.
"What?"
"I have no idea what they are talking about. Inasa, you still need your forehead iced."
"I'll go by myself," Inasa replied. "You must need to talk, I'm pretty sure I was interrupting you at Starbucks."
Yuyu gasped. "Did you hear that? Starbucks!"
Nejire was laughing silently at some kind of inside joke. "I sure did, sister, I sure did."
"It was a coffee date, then," Tamaki added with a watery smile. It didn't happen often.
"WE MET TODAY!" I rolled my eyes, exasperated. "How do you only do this with my male friends, of which Neito is only the second?"
"I'm your only male friend apart from Yoarashi-kun?"
"Yes, and I don't know why they're getting so worked up about it. Firstly," I said, turning to the older people in the room, "We met today. Secondly, the entrance exam was eventful for both of us and we just wanted to talk about it. Like Inasa said, he accidentally interrupted us. Thirdly-"
"We're fifteen," Monoma completed.
"Exactly."
"I'm curious to know what was so eventful about the entrance exam. Apart from the fact that it's your qualification for UA, surely it's just kicking robot butt?" Takawa asked, grinning.
"You actually want to know?" I raised my eyebrows. "Firstly, I saw Eraser Head. Eraser Head! You never told me he taught at UA!"
"Why would I mention it?"
"Not me hearing you rave about how cool he is on a near-daily basis," I said sarcastically.
Yuyu let out a suppressed chuckle.
"Well, Present Mic teaches English for the whole of UA. He still does the introduction for the entrance exam, right?"
"How could I ever forget his presentation?" I said, grinning.
"And Ectoplasm and Cementoss teach Math and Modern Literature respectively, Midnight teaches Modern Hero Art History, Snipe is the Heroics teacher -" He cut himself off abruptly.
"You never really told me much about UA," I noticed. "Are you hiding something, Onii-san?"
"No, of course not! I just didn't want to spoil anything for you."
"I'll take your word for it. Neito, let's go."
"Did - Were they serious?" Monoma said, red-faced after we were out of Takawa's room and back downstairs.
I felt the blood rush to my cheeks. "I'm sorry about that, they were probably just joking. It's hard to tell sometimes."
"Your brother has really cool friends," Monoma stated. "And he has wings. I really want to go back in there and talk to them. Do you think they'd let me copy their Quirks?"
"I guess they wouldn't mind. Do you do this to everyone you meet?"
"Yes, it's kind of a habit, and so I have experience in copying all kinds of Quirks. I don't know what I do it for, anyway. It's not like I'll need it."
"Confidence, remember?"
"Okay, okay."
"Just don't copy Togata's Quirk. He's literally the first boy I saw naked. I really, really don't need that happening again."
"I'll be sure to take note of that."
As he started to ascend the stairs yet again, he turned to me.
"Your brother has weird friends. But I like them."
We smiled at each other.
"That's all I could ask for."
Two minutes after he had entered my brother's room, I heard shouting.
I raced up the stairs and burst through the door. "What happened?"
"I have wings!"
"You had wings at the entrance exam."
"I have your brother's wings!"
"How did you get him to start worshipping you?" I asked Takawa.
"It was involuntary." He winked.
I facepalmed. "I'll go check on Inasa, I've had enough of this."
My mother was in the kitchen holding an ice pack to Inasa's forehead.
"You're not? Why?" I heard my mother exclaim as I walked in.
"Okaa-san, what happened?"
My mother turned to look at me. "I think he may want to tell you himself."
"What is it?"
Inasa took a deep breath. "I'm not applying for UA."
"But – but the recommendation –"
"Yeah, I know. I beat Endeavor's son to the finish line, but it's that which made me reconsider. Remember the time when we were younger and I asked Endeavor for his autograph?"
"He refused you, I remember, but what does it have to do with this?"
"After I placed first for the recommendation entrance exam, I tried to talk to his son. You know what he said?
"'You're in my way.'"
It was what Endeavor himself had told Inasa many years ago.
Salty tears clouded my vision and fell onto the kitchen floor.
"Where do you plan to go?" I asked sadly.
"Shiketsu, or maybe Ketsubutsu."
I lit up a bit; I had remembered something, but it didn't take away my sorrow. "Speaking of Ketsubutsu, do you remember Shindo and Nakagame from middle school?"
"Yes, why?"
"They went to Ketsubutsu, and they're dating. Oh, and Ms. Joke's their teacher."
"The Ms. Joke?"
"Yeah!"
"Oh, wow."
"You would be great in UA's Hero Course," I pressed. "It's not too late to change your mind."
"Okami." My mother spoke up for the first time. "I trust that Inasa will decide on what's best for him, and I think you should too."
I looked up at him sadly. "I respect your decision and I hope you'll be happy at whatever school you choose to go to. And also, you're really tall. Taller than me, at least."
"I hope that by now, I'm taller than Endeavor."
I smiled. "I think you may be."
"I'll do my best to visit."
"Same." I hugged my childhood friend.
At this moment, Monoma walked in.
"Ohayo gozaimasu," he greeted my mother. He turned to me. "I should be going now. Thanks for having me."
"Are you sure you don't want to stay for lunch?" my mother asked.
"My parents don't know I'm here and I have something on, so I can't. It was nice meeting you."
"Bye, Neito!"
"Bye, Okami."
"Oh?" My mother raised an eyebrow, smiling.
"Not again," I groaned. "It's not like that."
"I'm back!" My father's voice rang out from the front door. Today was one of the rare days on which he was free from his Pro Hero work as the Falcon Hero: Peregrine. He was one of the few people who had helped the current Number Three Pro Hero, Wing Hero: Hawks, to rise rapidly in the ranks as the youngest ever Pro Hero in history.
Having fairly similar wing Quirks, if you could count Hawks's ability to telekinetically direct his feathers and my father's ability to turn into a peregrine falcon as similar, my father had (minimally) mentored Hawks in the art of flying.
The lessons didn't last long as Hawks, according to my father, had learned quickly and surpassed my father, who was ranked number fourteen on the Hero Billboard Chart JP. Hawks maintained a close family-friend relationship with us and occasionally came by to mentor Takawa (in flying, of course) when my father was away. He couldn't do much for training my Quirk, but he did spar with me once or twice.
"Otou-san, you're back!"
"Ohayo, Peregrine-san!" Inasa exclaimed.
"Hey, how was the entrance exam? Did you kick some robot butt?" my father said, grinning.
"It was great! I got to know some new people."
"That's good," he said with a smile. He turned to Inasa. "I heard Shoto Todoroki was at the recommendation entrance exam. Endeavor's usually a stoic guy, but he couldn't resist boasting just this once. Did it go well?"
"About that –"
He was cut off by the doorbell ringing.
My father smacked his forehead. "Oh, I forgot that we have guests."
"I'll get it," I said. It probably wasn't Hawks, unless there was someone else with him.
I walked to the door and opened it. I stood rooted to the ground in shock.
"Shizen-kun?"
"Iida-kun?"
Ingenium waved at me. "Do you know each other from the entrance exam? You must have seen the girl who shouted at him," gesturing to Tenya Iida, who was currently standing in the doorway with his brother, Tensei Iida.
"It's a long story," Iida and I chorused, sighing.
Boy, was I lucky.
Part Three
"You – You're Peregrine's daughter?" Iida stared at me in shock.
"How – How much did you tell your brother?" I stared at Iida in shock.
"Everything, except for your name."
Ingenium gaped. "You're the one who shouted at my brother."
"Oh no," I muttered under my breath, bracing myself for whatever would come next.
"Thank you for doing that." Tensei said, smiling.
"You know her?" Iida asked.
"Yes, of course, I've heard of her from Peregrine himself."
"You're not mad?"
"Why would I be?"
"I didn't know that you were the guests my father was talking about." I groaned. "This is awkward, isn't it? Come in."
I stepped to the side, letting them in. "This is the first time my brother's been here," Tensei told me, concealing a smile, "as you know. Our parents were busy, so I thought he would like to come here. He thinks Peregrine is cool, or in his words, 'one of the few heroes in this modern society who really strives to protect and serve the people while at the same time maintaining a positive and friendly front to aspiring young hopefuls like myself'."
"Onii-san," Tenya groaned. "I've had enough roasting for a day."
I giggled.
"I never meant it as an insult," replied Tensei innocently.
I laughed.
Inasa walked in. "Wow, it's Ingenium! And his brother. NICE TO MEET YOU!" He slammed his head into the ground in a deep bow.
"You okay?" Tensei enquired, brining a hand to his mouth. "Oof. That looked like it hurt."
"You just had it iced, Inasa." I sighed. "Anyway, this is the guy who I shouted at during the examination briefing. You know, the one by Present Mic that I mentioned."
"I'm Tenya Iida," Iida announced primly, extending his hand in a swift motion that I was sure could break a wooden plank. "Nice to meet you, Inasa…?"
"Yoarashi, Inasa Yoarashi," he replied, accepting the handshake. "Okami, I didn't think you would do something like that."
"Do you want to know what he did, though?"
One minute later, after Tenya had explained (sheepishly) what he had said in front of the entire auditorium:
"You were right, honestly, Okami. Iida-kun, you yelled at a UA teacher and some random guy, whose name I believe is Midoriya."
"I mean, it makes sense to go after Bakugo, he yelled at Midoriya-kun to shut up. You get what I mean?"
Tenya stood in the hall, red-faced.
Right then, my father arrived, seeming to relieve Tenya of his embarrassment. He bowed deeply. "Peregrine-san, it's such an honour to meet you. In my view, you are one of the few heroes in this modern society who really strives to protect and serve the people while at the same time maintaining a positive and friendly front to aspiring young hopefuls like myself."
I bit my lip.
"Thank you, Tenya. Ingenium-kun, good to see you."
"Likewise, Peregrine-san." They shook hands.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, as did Tenya's. I took it out, seeing the following in the 'UA Hopefuls' group chat:
Broccoli: Wolfy I'd like to know if you can talk to actual wolves, because apparently you can talk to humans in your wolf form. And why is it that you don't have a tail in your human form? Is that just not part of your Quirk? And Floaty How much weight can you lift with Zero Gravity before you puke? And Copy-paste How many Quirks can you hold or use at a time? Cn you combine them?
I looked up. "Midoriya-kun sure is inquisitive."
Tenya peered at my screen, nodding. "Speaking of Midoriya-kun, he broke both his legs at the entrance exam. And an arm."
I grimaced. "So that's why Recovery Girl was so caught up. How did he break them?"
"The Arena Trap, while saving Uraraka-kun. In the end, he didn't get any points at all, as he told us."
"Not one? I still find that weird. If he could take down the Arena Trap, wouldn't he at least be able to get some points? Or could he just not find any?"
"It has to be that. His Quirk is a power-boosting one, but it breaks his bones, and I didn't see him injured at all before."
"Okaa-san says lunch is ready," said a voice behind me. I turned to see Takawa flapping his wings in mid-air while carrying Suzume.
"Please don't drop her."
"Have I ever?"
I groaned and took Suzume from my brother.
As we all walked, well, in Takawa's case, flew, to the kitchen, with Suzume facing Tenya, who was walking behind me, she said, "Are you okay?"
"Me? Yes, why do you ask?" Tenya was puzzled.
"You're walking funny."
Ingenium spoke up. "I believe he's excited to be here and is concealing his overwhelming excitement by walking stiffly."
Suzume giggled.
I smiled, reflecting on how my father's career had led him to make many close comrades in Pro Heroes, and that I had gotten to see some of the best of them through him. Of course, I still saw them patrolling the streets from day to day, but you couldn't tell from that that they led (mostly) normal lives like us civilians; they had friends, family, home lives, that I got the feeling not many people cared about, unless a scandal of some sort arose.
I, however, got to see behind the near-impenetrable veil of public image and was able to see that, despite the nature of their jobs which merited rewards, most weren't actually doing it for the reward.
Whether it was Hawks, who just wanted a world in which Pro Heroes weren't needed twenty-four/seven and could spend some time on their private life, to All Might, who believed in saving people with a smile (of course, this was apparent even to the public), there were people who inspired youngsters like me.
That was one of the main reasons why I loved Pro Heroes and the deeds that they did. Before Quirks, you could only dream of powers like invisibility or telekinesis, but as the first Quirks manifested, people started to see that what they thought was impossible became possible. People chose to use them for good, for evil-doing or just another trait or individuality unique to them; namely, Heroes, Villains and civilians.
Had I been born in the past before Quirks, I might have aspired to take on a less risky job, such as a doctor, a writer or even a singer. But with these special circumstances and the Quirk I was born with, I had never dreamed of becoming anything else. Anything other than a Pro Hero.
Dear Diary,
The entrance exam went really well, and I got to meet some great people. If I do get into UA, I would want them by my side. Iida found out that I was a Pro Hero's daughter when he and his brother came to visit. We talked about what went on during the entrance exam, as we didn't get to see each other then. He said that there could be a secret condition to passing the exam because it would be unlikely that Midoriya, who saved Uraraka from the Arena Trap with his seemingly powerful Quirk, doesn't get accepted into UA, because, well, he saved her and who wouldn't see potential in that Quirk?
Inasa isn't applying for UA, because of Endeavor and his son, Shoto Todoroki. I think it's honestly an opportunity wasted and if I meet either of them in the future, I'll give them a piece of my mind. Speaking of people I have a bone to pick with, Bakagou Katsudon has the ability but not the spirit, so I'll be counting on that to meet the both of them again.
Yours truly,
Wolf
Today was awesome! Mina was there and I met some great people. It was a pity that I was separated from her for the exam, I would have wanted to see her in action. Ingenium's brother was at the exam briefing and a girl with a wolf Quirk stood up to him when he said that UA wasn't living up to it's name. Shizen is a really great person, and I hope I get the chance to tell her so in the future.
I also met someone named Neito Monoma and his Quirk is to copy Quirks. I could tell he doesn't have confidence in himself. I personally though he shouldn't feel that way, because it's versatile, and who likes having only the same old trick every single time?
Ever manly (hopefully),
E
Dearest Diary,
I got a dressing down from a girl at the UA entrance exam. Looking back, I really deserved it, as I shouldn't have shouted out that UA wasn't up to standard. I was assigned to the same Battle Centre as Midoriya, who didn't manage to get any points at all, but saved a girl with a Zero Gravity Quirk named Ochako Uraraka from the massive zero-pointer. UA can't just be looking for people with raw talent, they have to scout people with potential or those who have the spirit to fuel their ambition. I think Midoriya will get into UA, because of his written exam results (he's the type of person I can relate to) and partly because I think there might be a secret condition to passing. I said as much to Peregrine's daughter, who was also at the exam, when I visited the Shizen residence. She turned out to be the girl who confronted me! I can see how she takes after Peregrine himself, like hair and eye color, having not noticed it before, but most importantly, she has the spirit, and that's what she has to help her excel.
Her childhood friend, Inasa Yoarashi, took the recommendation entrance exam and placed first in the physical component, but chose to apply for someplace else because of 'personal reasons', as Shizen herself put it. She looked sad about it, and I suspect she thinks it was a wasted opportunity. I hope she gets over her sadness soon.
Yours sincerely,
Tenya Iida
Stupid Diary,
I can't believe that stupid nerd Deku would even think of applying for UA. He's nothing but a Quirkless loser. Some randos got all chummy on the commute from the main campus to the Battle Centres and when one of them got injured, they all tried to help her and take out the zero-pointer. It isn't called a zero-pointer for nothing, extras.
One of them got really angry at me for having enough common sense to care about myself. For crying out loud, this is the UA entrance exam. You can't expect people to go around being selfless and saintly, putting their future on the line. I wouldn't be surprised if none of them even got into General Studies, it would serve them right. Oh and stupid Deku of course.
I'm never writing in this stupid emotions book ever again, you can't make me believe that this will make me calm down, you old hag!
Yours superiorly,
The Future Number One Hero Of The World
Dear Diary,
For the first time in so long, I've met someone who cares about me and actually believes in my aspiration to become a hero. I myself have thought so many times, over and over again, that heroes have to achieve with their own strength or Quirk. But I've learnt that if my own strength is copying other people's strength, I can do anything I want to do, be whoever I want to be, with my own Quirk. I shouldn't be ashamed of something I was born with.
She even introduced me to her siblings and brother's friends. Takawa Shizen and his friends will be in UA's Third Year, Hero Course next year. Her childhood friend was a little over-zealous, but I quite like him. I think something bad might have happened; she was crying when I was about to leave.
If I do get into UA, I hope I'll see her there, waiting for me. I'd like to see you again, Okami Shizen.
Yours truly,
Ctrl-C
