Hey, Miles here.
Ok, I so obviously I figured out the Spider Octopus was from an alternate reality. At first I didn't know where to start, but later I knew who just to ask.
The Spider Cave was just as I had last seen it, but it was neat and shiny, Aunt May still kept it clean like Peter still used it, but she told me she was keeping neat for me, i knew it was one of the things that reminded her of him.
"A Spider Octopus you say?"
"Yeah, didn't you see us on the news?" I asked Aunt May, she was sitting behind Peters multi screen computer, sipping tea. She was wearing her usual, grey old lady jacket, white shirt and greyish blue jean. I was wearing my regular jacket with jeans.
"No, didn't watch TV today." She said looking at me while she slipped her tea, she had this old rugged delighted smile on her face, she must have been happy to see me.
"By the way how are you doing with school." She asked taking a sip.
I immediately became tense, did she know something?
"Oh, it's... it's fine, yeah. Just good" I managed to say. "Wh..why...why did you ask" i said trying hard not to meet her eyes.
"Hm" She looked at me very briefly then got up from her rocking chair and went to the computer screens behind, she grabbed an office like chair by the computer, pulled it to the side where there was a keyboard and sat. She tapped a key on the keyboard and all the screens flickered on.
"Peter was able to create a multi dimensional detector once he had known what King Pin was planning to do" She said, I stepped closer to her side to get a good view of the screens, in my mind thanking God that she had not asked me more on school stuff. One screen showed the schematics of the Collider, another Profiles of some criminals like the Lizard, Kraven the Hunter, and Tombstone with some others but one the biggest screen was a map of the whole of Newyork. It must be what Spider man used to detect the breaches and there location, after tapping a few keys she sat back and folded her arms.
"The only problem is it can only detect inter-dimensional breaches on a large scale"
"So that means..."
"Uh huh, it cannot detect when some one like Spider Octopus opens up a portal, except they are very close to this place, like just around the block or so."
"Oh, I see, well... well can it be modified to detect small scale breaches?" I asked turning to face her.
"Kid, do I look like a scientist to you or a computer nerd like Peter"
hahaha, nerd. Oh wait, am a nerd.
"Peter only taught me how to work a few things, other than that I pretty much can't help you, but I might be able to help with your school problem."
"Uh, mehn. How did you know?." I said. Webbing a seat to me to slump in.
"It's written all over you." She said picking up her tea from the table and turning to face me.
"Really? How?" I asked sitting up to face her.
"Haha, let's just say what an Elder can see sitting down a Youth like yourself may not see standing up."
"Uhh...?"
"It's an African Proverb." She said, "anyway, you may have to find someone else to help you with finding your guy, and who knows he may not come back."
"Yeah Aunt May, but he mentioned something that worries me, he said some one is after me, and the others."
"What does he mean the others?"
"I think it's the other Spiders, Gwen and Peter B might be in trouble."
"Don't forget Porky, Noir and the robot one"
"Peni."
"Yeah, not to mention a whole lot of other Spiders out there, did he mention who and why"
"No, but if he ever comes" I said standing up, getting serious. "I'll stop him before he can hurt the next spider."
"Not in this state you won't." She said looking at the inside of her tea cup.
"What do you mean Aunt May, I took on King Pin"
"I admit King Pin is pretty bad, but there are others out there worse than King Pin, and they have powers." She dropped her tea and sat forward. "Listen, Miles, you have to avoid being corky, Peter wasn't corky but he still got killed."
"I know Aunt May I..."
"You need to learn how to balance your life, too much heroism can wear you down, you have to learn how to balance family, school and being Spiderman. If not Life will wear you down you would be too distracted or weak to face a deadly villian."
"..i know Aunt May" i said softly, placing my head down. "But how do I do it."
"That..." She said sitting back straight "is where I can help. You are going to meet with someone, she's already asked about you." I didn't know why but an uneasy feeling came over me.
"Really, who?" I managed to ask
"Mary Jane."
"Wait, What?" I said getting up.
"Yeah, in fact she's on her way here, should arrive any minute now."
"What!?"
"Yeah, she had called, said she wanted to come see me, didn't know you'd be around, convenient isn't it?" Aunt May said a bit amused, she wasn't paying attention to my nervous state, ignoring it maybe.
"Oh Aunt May, would you look at the time, I gotta go" I said looking for a way to escape.
"It's just 4:30" She said checking her watch "and besides here she comes." Aunt May said turning her face to where the Cave's entrance was, I had been too tensed to notice the imminent danger, the Lift was coming down and I could make out a figure with blue jeans and pink top, where was the spider sense when you needed it.
What do I do, I can't let her see me, what...I saw an opportunity and took it.
When Mary finally came down, she looked around. "hey Aunt May, I thought I heard you with someone."
"Yeah, a chicken"
"Huh?"
Aunt May then pointed up. Why did she do that!?
Jane looked up, only to see me hanging by my webs. "Ehhh, hey?"
"Is that..?"
"The Chicken. Yeah, Mary Jane meet Miles Moral-something aka Spiderman"
I dropped infront of her. I stared at her nervously.
"Hey, so you're Mary Jane" What!?, Of course she is, you know she is.
"Umm, yeah I guess" she said, then she smiled and held out her hand, I composed myself and we shook.
"Pleasure to finally meet." She said. I didn't know how to respond. Then after a moment i mustered up some courage.
"Um, I just wanted..."
"Yeah?" She said still holding my hand and smiling at me like a delighted big sister.
"I just..."
Suddenly an alarm went off.
Pom! Pom! Pom! Pom!
"Ok guys break it up, looks like we have a breach" Aunt May said turning on her chair to face the screens, I could see that there was a red Dot on the map of New York."
"Whats that Aunt May?" Mary asked as we both walked closer to her.
"It's an inter-dimensional breach detector. Hmm, that's strange, it's a small one, that means..." Aunt May tapped a button and the screen zeroed in on the red dot which turned into the above shematics of a neighborhood."
"That's.." I said when I saw the name of the area.
"Right outside."
"What?" Mary Jane asked.
Boom! Then whole cave shook.
"I hope they at least live my house standing." Aunt May said with a sigh.
