AN: Sorry about delay in update. I've been having a bad case of writer's block. Also, I recently heard about how the moderator's abandoned this site so it's slowly dying because it's apparently not getting updated again. I'm going to start moving my fics over to Archive of our Own. Stuff will start getting posted there this weekend at the latest, same username, TheSilverboar. I'll post stuff there in increments till eventually everything is on that site moving forward. I only learned about the impending heat death of this site and forced out what I could from my rebellious muse. Next post (again, on Archive of our own) should have more stuff and be longer. Assuming my muse starts cooperating again.

The Silver Hunter

Chapter 14

-Poseidon-

"Your son is a bad actor Poseidon." Zeus scoffed, "The thief cannot be still back at camp if he's in a truck going to Las Vegas."

"You know, I haven't seen Koalemos in a while." Poseidon frowned while looking over at Hestia, "Think Zeus took over his domains too? He seems to be doing a good job as the god of stupidity recently." His sister did her best to not snort at the jab while Zeus seethed in fury, admittedly smart enough to not lash out at the remark.

"Still, it would be a problem if someone stole that mech or the spell to duplicate it." Dionysus shuddered, "If Sally Jackson learned that her son's project, one she helped on, got stolen by someone who used it to try and hurt or kill demigods, especially her son…" the wine god trailed off, not bothering to elaborate as they all felt a shudder of fear at what Sally Jackson's response would be.

"Geeze Percy," hearing the voice of the daughter of Hecate coming from the scrying pool, Poseidon refocused back on his son "even for a Demigod dream that's a lot."

"And did you seriously try slapping yourself awake in the dream?" the daughter of Athena asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I don't know what all the rules are for these things!" Percy threw his hands up, "For all I know my soul is physically in those places. Against Kronos and the lightning thief, with no weapons or armor, when they know I'm there? Yeah, no thank you, I choose life! He who runs away and doesn't fight, runs away first!"

"I…actually I can't even deny that possibility. I was born out of the brain of a virgin goddess who herself was born out of the brain of a thunder god, after said virgin had a 'good vibe session' with a neurotic neglectful wannabe professor. This shit's weird."

"…Well when she puts it like that it all just sounds silly." Hermes pouted at someone pointing out how ludicrous their existence was, not that he could really blame the girl.

"Alright, Annabeth, you contact Chiron back at camp." Lou frowned "I'll work on a spell to hopefully prevent any more potential late night spiritual dream walking. Percy, you try and rest, you look like you're about to have a heart attack." Percy made no arguments as Poseidon watched his son drop back down with a flop, manipulating some water out of a bottle and onto his rapidly bruising forehead from where it met the bars. Everything seemed fine and normal, for a quest at least, but Poseidon had a horrible feeling in his gut as that truck continued on its way to Vegas.

-Rachel-

"PERSEUS ACHILLES JACKSON, DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE!" hearing the angry frantic shouting of Momma Jackson, Rachel startled awake along with most in the Jackson home 'watch Percy's first quest sleepover extravaganza'.

"What?! Who?!" Alex fell out of the chair he was sleeping in, holding a butter knife in a fighting stance.

"SAY NO TO DRUGS PERCY!" Sally Jackson was shaking the TV showing Hephaestus' live streaming of the quest, "SAY NO TO DRUGS!"

"Is that a casino?" Rachel blearily rubbed the sleep from her eyes as she approached the TV.

"Casin- oh fuck!" Alex paled, "Sally, please tell me he knows what that is!"

"I never got a chance to tell him about it!" Sally Jackson looked ready to tear her own hair out, "There was so much to teach him and show him I wasn't able to get to it all and I didn't think he'd be in that area till he was old enough to gamble at least!"

Deciding now wasn't the time for swear jar shenanigans, Rachel approached them, "What's that Casino supposed to be?" she couldn't remember any myths about gambling.

"The lair of the Lotus eaters." Alex scowled, "It's evolved over the years and instead of just eating drugged flowers, not its entire presence affects the mind. Twisting perception of time as well as slowing it down. Reading your thoughts and desires to craft whatever sort of game or activity you want to do. All to make sure you never want to leave."

"Percy will make it out." Rachel's voice was firm as she hugged a still shaking Sally Jackson, "He's far too stubborn to give up on his quest, let alone to leave us behind."

"Yeah…yeah you're right Rachel." Momma Jackson latched onto those words desperately. She had to believe, just like Rachel did. The alternative wasn't something she could stomach contemplating.

AN: Short chapter, I know, but that writer's block plus the transition nature of the chapter wouldn't give me anything else. I'll do my best to make the next chapter, in the Hotel itself, longer.
