Six friends from Ellwood, Pennsylvania were walking along in the park thinking of a story to write. Arthur suggested that they should write about the time they thought Mr. Ratburn was a monster, Buster suggested the time he moved away, and Francine suggested her teaching Arthur how to play baseball, but the others didn't agree.

Just then, they spotted something: a labador dog wearing hippie apparel and a red bow was doing yoga in the park. It was their old friend, Fern Walters. Ever since the fifth grade, Fern went through the hippie phase.

"Hey, hey, soul brothers and sisters," Fern greeted while making peace symbols. "How many stories did you write today?"

"Six," Brain answered. "But we lost to a girl named Holly Holland."

"Relax, dude," Fern replied. "It matters that you have fun."

"That's what I said," Arthur replied. "What's on your mind, Fern?"

"Like," Fern replied, "I've been trying to get over the fact that George is now attending boarding school."

"That's right," Buster recalled. "You and George were really close."

They needed a way to get Fern's mind off of George. At a bus stop, they spotted a flier for a band audition.

Do you want your voice heard around the world?

Then audition for Magical Mari Records' New Note.

Friday Night at 6pm.

"Today is Friday," Arthur said. "But Buster, Francine, Muffy, and I are going to help my dad due a big catering order, although he didn't say where it was."

Later at The Tolonseum Theater, world renowned record producer and former Elwood Sweetheart Mari "Magical Mari" Jeanin was on her last stop to find her next big act. Recently her former band, Rayling Reef, broke up due to the drummer wanting a solo career. Her assistants were trying to convince her to give up, but she refused.

"Listen up," Magical Mari announced. "One of you is my newest star. Now let's get this show on the road."

Unfortunately, the acts were terrible. Magical Mari auditioned an off-key opera singer, a two-left-footed tap dancer, and a self-absorbed bassist.

After the audition, her older brother Patrick Jeanin-Ratburn and his husband Nigel Ratburn came in. They were there thanks to Magical Mari letting them be on the guest list. After explaing the final audition for her new act, Patrick thought that he could cheer his little sister up with a little Freddie Merrcury chocolates and a little music. While tasting the milky chocolate with a teaspoon of peanut butter and a hint of yellow sprinkles, she heard the most beautiful song she'd ever heard. It was the Summer Sensation Serenade.

Patrick explained that when he was at the Summmer Serenade five years ago, he saw the Tibbles' drum solo, DW's One Girl Band, the Tough Customers' babershop quartet, and the Summer Sensations.

Suddenly, Fern came onstage. "Sorry I'm late," she interupted. "I had to drop off a few library books and I was having trouble deciing what song to use."

Immediately, Magical Mari recognized her. "Could you play the Summer Sensation Serenade?"

Nervously, Fern decided to play it, although she barely played the song.

After finishing, Magical Mari realized that she has found her New Note. "Listen, Fern," she said, "I need your help to track down the other Summer Sensations."

"Well," Fern replied shyly, "they're helping Mr. Read out with a catering order for a wrap-up party."

"That's right," Mr. Ratburn recalled. "The Tolonseum is having their wrap up party for a mid-summer's night dream and the fridge broke."

Meanwhile, at the Tolonseum kitchen, Dave, Arthur, Francine, Muffy, and Buster were cleaning up the catering order when Magical Mari popped in. "Hello, Summer Sensations!" she shouted. "Arthur Read, Francine Frensky, and Buster Baxter, I'm so thrilled to meet you."

Patrick then came in with a cautious look. "Forgive my younger sister," he explained. "She loves to make an enterance."

"Hey," Muffy said. "Isn't your sister the CEO of her own music company, Magical Mari Records?"

"That's me," Magical Mari answered with a wink.

"Then how come we never saw you at Mr. Ratburn and Patrick's wedding?" questioned Arthur.

Sady, Magical Mari decided to explain why she never came to the wedding because of the audition for her first ever New Note. "Five years ago, I was holding auditions for a group that would be my New Note. But due to a low budget, I had to book a two star lounge where no one goes to. After no one came, I heard a band rehearsing my favorite Beatles song, 'Come Together'. Back then, I mistook it for a real performance and they came as a surprise audition. When the owner explained the misunderstanding, I told him I didn't care. I needed a new act."

"What was the band's name?" Francine asked.

"Rayling Reef," Magical Mari answered. "Unfortunately, Rayling Reef broke up recently because the drummer wanted his own solo career."

After a few glances, Arthur, Buster, and Francine decided to perform again. Everyone started becoming thrilled, except for Muffy, who started to feel very left out. Seeing Muffy sad, Magical Mari asked if she wanted to join, too. "I have been taking guitar lessons ever since the fourth grade," Muffy recalled. "Okay."

"After all," Magical Mari smiled, "you're gonna need another Molly."

"You remembered that the Summer Sensations was our semi-third name?" Buster asked.

Magical Mari nodded her head. "Okay," she said. "We're going to need a place to talk more about the Summer Sensations. Meet me at Patrick's Chocolate tomorrrow at noon. Lunch is on me."

In her hotel room, Magical Mari started remembering how she got here.

When she was a child, she performed in the Summer Serenade. She was so busy getting ready to perform, she forgot to write a song, so she improvised by performing a poem that she wrote for a homework assignment: "Ocean Moment."

After the peformance, everyone cheered. It was there that she got record deal for her first company, Dreaming Queen Records. Magical Mari had everything that a popstar could ever wanted, but the taste of home.

After growing tired of the frequent cutbacks, Magical Mari quit and decided to open up her own company. She only had one band, Rallying Reef, and it helped her get by.

Now that she had a new band, she couldn't wait to have an ocean moment.
