(A/N) Hello!
So this one I based on not only Christian Kane's song "Let Me Go", but I used some inspiration from the music video for this song.
Hope you enjoy!
They were sittin' on his tailgate. She was lovin' on his rough neck, as she was talkin' about runnin' away. And he was puffing on a cigarette. Just thinkin'. How am I gonna say goodbye?
It hadn't been long after Eliot and Kaira had teamed up. And Eliot was scared. Because he was falling in love with the woman currently leaning against him on the tailgate of his truck. Kaira Newton. She was a curveball he hadn't expected in his life. And he was falling for her. Which for him, was dangerous. But Kaira wasn't like his normal one night stands. Because she was his partner. Her hand was caressing his neck, feeling the stubble on his cheek. He didn't want Kaira to be in any more danger than she already was. And he didn't want to inevitably hurt her when he left. Cause that what he always did.
He said "Girl you got it good here. And you don't need to mess with a guy going nowhere." She said "how's about Texas?" He got up and shook his and said "ain't you been listening? It's never gonna work out. So I'm thinkin' it'd be a good time now to…"
"Where do you wanna go next, Cowboy?" Kaira asked him, her hand on his thigh.
He had pain on his face as he turned to her.
"Kaira, you have it good in New York. You don't want to be with me." Kaira just looked at him, not registering what he said.
"How about Texas?" Kaira asked.
Eliot stood up and rubbed his face, putting out the cigarette he was sharing with Kaira.
"Kaira, you're not listening. This—this won't work." Eliot tried telling Kaira.
"Let me go. You don't need me, baby. Stop holdin' on the way you are. Don't you know I'm no good for you and it'll only break your heart. If you don't let me go."
"Why not?" Kaira asked Eliot, serious and standing up.
"I'm not the guy you're looking for, okay? I'm not good for you. I'm just gonna hurt you, or gonna get you hurt, and I won't let that happen. So please, let me go." Eliot all but begged Kaira.
Kaira stood her ground.
"You don't get to make that choice for me, Eliot." Kaira argued.
He said, "Other than a dreamer. I ain't nothing but a drifter. And you could do a lot better." He leaned over and he kissed her. He said "You got another year of college, and a good momma and daddy. And me, I've got 93 and this old '82 Chevy…"
Even with that warning, Kaira stayed around. Then they partnered up with Hardison, Parker, Nate, and Sophie, and everything changed. Cause they were almost ready to take that leap. Admittingly, Kaira was more ready than Eliot was. It was sunset and they were relaxing in bed. It was scaring Eliot how good he felt. Cause how could a guy like him have someone like her? So early morning, he just drove. Maybe it was a last ditch effort. Kaira woke up, seeing the note on his bed. "Kaira, you know I'm a drifter. You deserve do much better than me. You still could make a better life than I could give you with your Uncle."
"So let me go. So let me go you don't need me baby. Stop holding on the way you are. Don't you know I'm no good for you and it'll only break your heart? If you don't let me go."
"So please, Kaira, let me go." The note ended. Kaira knew she had to go after Eliot. So, she figured out which way he went and drove after him. She found his car, broken down on the desert highway. She pulled up behind him and got out.
"You don't get to decide what I want, Eliot." Kaira got out and went up to him.
Eliot knew Kaira was stubborn.
She said, "Nice try. But you can't hide behind those shades there on your face. Ya see I don't think you're all that tough. I just think you're scared of love. And I think I won't take up that much space…"
"I think you're just scared, Eliot. You're scared of what we have could turn into. That I'd take up too much space. Well I'm not scared, Eliot." Kaira and Eliot ended meeting up in the middle.
She pulled him into a hard kiss. Eliot wasn't gonna lie, he enjoyed kissing Kaira, though he didn't like that he liked it. Kaira let go and put some space in between them.
"So let me go. Take me with you baby. We both know you're not as strong as you think you are. So let me go. Take me with you baby. I belong where you are. Don't you know I'm so good for you, and it'll only break your heart. Down the road, if you don't let me go with you baby."
"Eliot, please. Don't throw away what we have." Kaira begged Eliot.
Eliot was conflicted.
"Kaira–" Karia cut him off.
"No! Look, you're strong, Eliot. Don't you see it? I'm willing to risk it all, Eliot. Cause I love you, Eliot!" Kaira admitted.
Those three words terrified Eliot more than anything.
"What?" Eliot asked softly.
"I said it. I love you Eliot. I'm not expecting you to say anything to me, okay? Hell, I don't expect you to love me back. We're broken people, Eliot. But that's what makes it good." Kaira told Eliot.
She closed the gap between them. She grabbed his face.
"So just think about it okay? You waited for me. I'll wait for you." Kaira told him.
Eliot had a slight smile on his face.
"You really are something, Kaira." He chuckled a bit.
Kaira chuckled.
"Yeah."
She then went to her car and helped Eliot get his car fixed up.
Let me go
With you baby
Just let me go
It wasn't until Eliot got the call from Willie and went to Kentucky that he realized he loved Kaira. Sure Eliot's little rolling in the hay with Aimee was nice, and was familiar. But he knew it was never gonna work out between them. And then she let him go. And Kaira took him in with open arms for all he was. Mistakes and all. And if that wasn't love, then it didn't exist.
(A/N) I hope you enjoyed this!
Remember to favorite and share! Much love to you all! Stay safe!
