(A/N) Hello!
So I had this idea for a bit and I finally finished it! I may have slightly based the title on Taylor Swift's song "Begin Again".
I wanted to show more of the relationship between Eliot and Kaira, but also show some more of the difference between Eliot and Kaira's ex Brian.
Hope you enjoy!
It was quite the adjustment for Kaira to go from Brian Galileo to Eliot Spencer. They were so different from one another, and Kaira knew it. But, it doesn't mean it was always easy.
Scenario #1: Reactions to other guys flirting with Kaira
Brian: Brian was a playboy. Kaira knew that. But she didn't care because he was dangerous, which made her feel good at the time. Brian was constantly allowing girls to flirt with him, hell even flirting back. One particular moment that Kaira remembers is at a party for her uncle when she was 19.
Brian was there and was chatting some girl up. Kaira ignored him and kept drinking her drink. Then a cute guy came up to her, trying to flirt. Kaira may not have been the expert she was now, but it was painfully obvious this guy was trying to get in her pants. Brian was so focused on his girl, that he ignored Kaira's silent calls for help.
Kaira had to all but threaten the guy to leave him alone, having to get loud, which caused him to get escorted out by the bouncers. Kaira and Brian went home, cause she was pissed, and they ended up getting in a yelling match, which, as always, ended up with punches thrown.
Eliot: Eliot was always a flirt when Kaira met him. At first, she didn't care, 'cause they weren't together, so why would she have a say in who Eliot was flirting with? But when she developed feelings for Eliot, she got jealous. So, when Eliot and Kaira started dating and eventually got married, she became okay with him flirting for a con because he always went home with her at the end of the day.
One particular day, a bit after Eliot and Kaira got married, and during one of the team's many breaks, they were at some bar in Texas. Kaira and Eliot couldn't keep their hands off of each other, line dancing to the country music playing from the band.
Once their legs were too sore to dance anymore, they sat back at their table and did the smart thing when drinking, order food. Eliot was holding Kaira's hand, smiling at how amazing she looked in the bar lights. Kaira chuckled, smiling.
"Something catch your eye, Cowboy?" Kaira asked, flirting heavily, rubbing her foot against his leg.
Eliot had just the reaction she expected.
"As a matter of fact, yes. The most beautiful woman I've ever seen right there." Eliot pointed to Kaira, causing her to chuckle.
"Ever the charmer, Cowboy." Kaira teased, rubbing his cheek.
Eliot then noticed the empty bottles they both had, and picked them up.
"Well, a pretty thing like you can't be goin' thirsty, cause that'll be a damn shame." Eliot chuckled as he stood up.
"I'm gonna get us another round, Sweetheart. Be back soon." Eliot kissed her cheek and left.
Kaira chuckled and looked at the wedding ring on her left ring finger. Not long after Eliot left, a guy approached Kaira.
"Hey Sweetheart." Kaira suppressed a groan and turned to face him.
"Can I help you?" She asked, trying to give the guy a hint.
"What's a pretty thing like you doing here all alone?" The guy asked Kaira.
"Who said I'm alone?" Kaira told him, giving another hint.
"Well it looks like you're alone to me." The guy missed the hint.
"She isn't." Eliot then stood beside Kaira, an arm around her chest, making Kaira feel better.
"Who the hell are you?" The guy asked Eliot.
"She told you no, bub. Best to listen to the young lady." Eliot glared at the guy, giving the eyes that scared people.
Kaira smiled a bit at Eliot and shrugged her shoulders.
"Oh, come on, sweetheart, I can show you a good time if you let me." The guy got creepy.
"I got someone to show a good time already." Kaira glared at the guy.
The guy tried grabbing Kaira's hands, but Eliot snatched his hand and bent his fingers back, causing him to scream. The bar got quiet.
"Leave my wife alone. Don't cause a scene. Leave." Eliot threatened the guy.
He listened and left. The bar went back to its normal bustling self. Eliot sat back down next to Kaira, handing her the open beer. He wrapped his arm around Kaira's waist protectively and smiled at her.
"You good, Sweetheart?" Eliot asked her.
"I'm okay, babe. Though if you didn't come over like a knight in shining armor, I was about five seconds away from whoopin' his ass." Kaira chuckled and sipped her beer.
Eliot chuckled.
"I know, Sweetheart. Woulda beat his ass if he put his hands on ya." Eliot took a sip of his beer.
"I know." Kaira leaned into Eliot and rested on his shoulder.
Eliot rubbed her arm, then moved down to Kaira's thigh.
"You know I always got you, Sweetheart. As long as I'm here, ain't no guy putting his hands on you." Eliot kissed her neck.
Kaira smiled and chuckled.
"Except you, right?" Kaira teased, placing her hand on Eliot's leg.
"Damn right." Eliot teased, chuckling, taking a sip of his beer.
Scenario #2: Reactions to girls flirting with them
Brian: Brian would flirt with every girl in high school. And Kaira thought she was lucky to be with Brian, cause who wouldn't? He had power, money, connections. And he chose Kaira. But as Kaira found out one night, it wasn't outta love.
At a Christmas party for Brian's family, she was there to have fun and hang out with Brian. She was talking to a cousin, getting filled in on her life since their last interaction. She caught Brian chatting up a girl. Kaira felt the jealousy rise up, but held it down.
But eventually, when they went to exchange gifts, she went to track down Brian, as he had disappeared. No one would say where Brian went, so Kaira walked around the mansion, trying to find him. Kaira found him in his room, in bed with another woman. She cussed him out and yelled at Brian, then drove back home.
Brian blew up her phone, but she couldn't forgive him. And it was after that she decided to leave. But she blamed herself for a long time for Brian's cheating. Maybe she wasn't a good girlfriend? Maybe she wasn't meant to be a partner.
Eliot: Girls always flirted with Eliot. Why wouldn't they? He was handsome, charming as all Hell, and had a dangerous smile that drew you in, blue eyes that would melt you. Eliot was a flirt, too. That much was obvious when Kaira met Eliot. But it unexpectedly made Kaira jealous. Eventually, when they started dating, Eliot limited his flirting to cover and grifting only. Which was just fine with Kaira.
One of the jobs Eliot and Kaira were on with the team, they were at a mark's party. With Nate and Hardison watching the party from the van, as they were both burned already, Parker in the vents heading to the bedroom for the safe, and Sophie distracting the mark so Kaira could lift his keycard so she could get the server room open to install a worm in the system for Hardison, Eliot's job was to be on lookout for the guys the mark was doing a deal with and intercept them.
The party was inside a very large house, and there was a bar.
It had the best view of the entrance, so that's where Eliot had camped. Kaira got the cue from Sophie that she was about to start the distraction so Kaira could lift.
Kaira did the lift and got the door opened and installed the worm. When Kaira got back to the party, a girl was sitting beside Eliot. Kaira was kinda amused at first, cause she knew this woman didn't stand a chance. But Eliot was obviously uncomfortable, so Kaira stepped in.
"You got nice eyes, you know." The girl flirted with Eliot.
Kaira wrapped her arms around his neck, getting a scowl.
"Yeah he does." Kaira gave a look to the woman, warning her to back off.
"I did tell you I was with someone." Eliot told the woman, holding Kaira's hands so the woman could see his wedding ring.
Kaira smirked as the woman scoffed.
"Her?" The woman looked Kaira up and down.
Eliot was stuttering, but Kaira stood right beside Eliot, holding her ground.
"Yes. "Her". So leave my man alone and go steal someone else's man." Kaira hissed at the woman.
She was pissed as she turned and walked away. Kaira chuckled and turned to face Eliot, leaning on his body.
"The hell's her problem?" Kaira asked Eliot.
"She was trying to flirt, thinking I was here alone, but I told her I wasn't, and my girl was getting drinks. She didn't listen until you came." Eliot smiled at Kaira, his arm around her waist.
Kaira smiled.
"Didn't work, did it?" Kaira teased slightly, knowing the answer.
"No, ma'am." Eliot smirked and kissed Kaira.
"Good. Cause the only fine ass you're taking home is mine." Kaira ordered, planting her ass on his lap.
"Yes, ma'am." Eliot smirked again.
"Really?" Hardison came on comms, interrupting the moment.
"Dammit Hardison!" Kaira and Eliot quietly groaned.
Scenario #3: When Kaira's having an off day
Brian: When Kaira's sister died, she was a wreck. And Brian was not there. He ignored Kaira when he saw her teary eyes. The same thing happened when Kaira lost her parents. Brian acted like nothing had changed.
When Kaira was breaking down, Brian acted like it was her fault she couldn't be a good girlfriend and to "get over it". It took Kaira a long time to change her thinking.
Eliot: After Kaira and Eliot dealt with the Red Haze and that whole situation, they were rough. Though Kaira took a bit longer to fully recover. Some nights were rougher. Kaira would wake up in a panic with nightmares, remembering every single bad memory she had gone through that day. And every time, Eliot would wrap his arms around her and calm her down so she could fall back asleep.
It was about a month before the team went to take on RIZ. The stress of what they were about to do, and the stress of the whole Maria situation was really getting to Kaira. Kaira woke up really early one morning cause she had a bad nightmare, ending up with her soaked in sweat. She had gotten a shower to clean up and ended up sitting at the bar. Eliot then walked over with a cup of coffee and sat beside her, kissing her cheek. Kaira smiled as she took a sip.
"Hey sweetheart." Eliot wrapped his arm around her.
"Hey babe." Kaira smiled at Eliot.
Eliot noticed something was off immediately.
"I know something that'll cheer you up." Eliot smirked and grabbed Kaira's hand and helped her out of the barstool.
Karia chuckled as Eliot pulled up a song on his phone and sat it on the bar. He hit play and put his hands on Kaira's waist, as she wrapped her arms around his neck. The song that played was "Tennessee Whiskey" by Chris Stapelton. Kaira and Eliot spent the whole song smiling, swaying to the beat. Eliot would sing the chorus to Kaira, causing her to chuckle. When the song was over, Eliot turned his phone off and just looked at Kaira. She wrapped her arms again around his neck and kissed him.
"Thank you, baby. I really needed that." Kaira told Eliot.
"You don't have to thank me, Kaira." Eliot reminded Kaira.
Kaira chuckled again.
"Yeah I do. You always know when I need a little bit of that Eliot Spencer charm I love so much." Kaira teased Eliot some by holding his face.
He chuckled.
"Just doing my duties as your husband, sweetheart." Eliot teased some too.
