(A/N) Hello!
So, finally, I got this story done! This one will be on the shorter side, but I think it brings up an interesting conversation that I didn't get an opportunity to put in my main fic. That would be the inevitable conversation between Eliot and Kaira about what to do about their feelings for Maria Shipp!
Hope you enjoy!
After Kaira's chat with Breanna, Kaira made her way upstairs. She went into her and Eliot's bedroom and saw Eliot laying in bed.
"Hey sweetheart." Eliot gave a smile to Kaira.
She smiled back.
"Hey babe." Kaira sat down on the edge of the bed, her smile fading.
Eliot sat beside her.
"Hey, Kaira, what's wrong?" Eliot asked her.
Kaira took a breath and rubbed her face.
"So it's gonna sound crazy what I'm about to say. But before I say it, I need you to know something." Kaira turned to look at Eliot.
"I love you so much, Eliot. And I don't regret anything about us or the fact we've been married the last 11 years and have three amazing kids together. In fact, it's probably about the only thing in my life that's felt solid." Kaira took another breath, trying to calm her racing heart.
"Kaira, you know I love you, but you're really worrying me. What's this about?" Eliot asked Kaira again, grabbing her hands.
That gesture allowed Kaira to calm herself down.
"So back at that coffee shop with Maria Shipp, something happened within me, and it's scaring the hell outta me. Cause I don't know what exactly it is I'm feeling yet, but it feels wrong." Kaira tried to explain, her breath shaky.
Eliot rubbed her shoulders.
"Just do the best you can, okay?" Eliot told Kaira.
She took another breath, grabbing Eliot's arm.
"When Maria was flirting with us, it felt…" Kaira tried explaining.
"Exciting?" Eliot filled in the blank, causing Kaira to look at him curiously.
"Yeah. Like it felt the day I first laid eyes on you." Kaira continued.
They looked at each other for a moment.
"I don't know what to do, Eliot. This is—I've never run into this situation before." Kaira broke the silence.
"Me neither, Kaira. With all the women I've flirted with during a con, I never was…" Eliot struggled to find the words.
"Tempted?" Kaira questioned, reading his mind.
Eliot thought for a moment.
"I don't know, maybe. This is new for me." Eliot reminded Kaira.
"I know, babe. Me too." Kaira told Eliot.
There was a moment of silence.
"So what do we do?" Eliot asked Kaira.
Kaira thought for a moment.
"I'm not sure, and that's the worst part." Kaira admitted.
Kaira then looked at Eliot.
"Could we—" Kaira tried suggesting before cutting herself off and collapsing on the bed.
"This is crazy, Eliot." Kaira nervously chuckled.
"Is it?" Eliot laid down beside her, facing her.
Kaira turned to face him.
"Wouldn't it be…?" Kaira tried asking.
"I don't think it would be. I mean, as long as all parties agree, right?" Eliot questioned himself.
Kaira thought for a moment.
"Would it work?" Kaira asked.
"Maybe. Are you okay with this?" Eliot asked Kaira.
"I'm okay with it. This could be something good for us. It'd be nice to have someone new to talk to about our job." Kaira told Eliot.
"Yeah." Eliot agreed.
Eliot and Kaira sat up and silently agreed to finish the conversation later. Cause they were beat and needed time to think. This feeling they had was something unexpected for the both of them. Yeah, they loved each other deeply. But Maria had ignited a spark in both of them. And what was the worse that could happen?
(A/N) I hope you enjoyed this chapter! In my mind, what makes Eliot and Kaira's relationship special is their communication with one another. So, that's what this short was demonstrating.
