(A/N) Hello!

I know, it's been forever since I've shared a story. But I am back! And I come bearing news!

First piece of news is that I am officially moving in to my own apartment! July 2nd! That's gonna take up a lot of my time, as I got to get all my crap packed by then.

Second piece of news is that I started a podcast! It's called Fims & Fandoms with Kaylee, and you can find it wherever you find your podcasts!

Fair warning, this story's gonna tug at the heartstrings. And it's in Eliot's POV.

Hope you enjoy!

It wasn't supposed to go down like this. We were working a job, trying to take down a smuggler who framed our client for his crimes and got him arrested. We had gathered up all the evidence we needed for our client's lawyer. But what would really help our client was making sure the smuggler was arrested. Kaira was in as a mover, and I was supposed to be the muscle.

We were at the meet. I was in the stupid van with Hardison, Parker was using her FBI alias to help McSweeten and Taggart for the bust. Kaira was set up inside the warehouse. The fact that it was a warehouse already set off my instincts, cause last time we went to a warehouse for a meet, Kaira and I did something we thought we'd never do again.

But during the meet, something went wrong. The mark somehow figured out who Kaira was, and I ran as fast as I could inside. Hardison was in my ear, telling me there were a lot of guys. But by the time I got inside, I heard a gunshot and my heart sank.

"Hardison." I whispered, because it wouldn't do Kaira good if I got caught right now.

Please be okay sweetheart!

"He shot her, it looks like in the stomach. She's still alive." Hardison reported, and I could sense the fear in his voice.

"Eliot, get her out of there, I'm going in." Parker ordered.

I saw the group of about 7 guys surrounding Kaira, and from her comm I could hear her moaning. They weren't moving away from her.
"Hardison, Parker, I need a distraction so I can get Kaira out." I told Hardison.

"All right, man, I'm on it." Hardison was close to freaking out.

"Eliot, ambulance is on the way. I'm 15 seconds out." Parker said, and I could hear the police sirens.

Then I heard the sirens outside, and the goons ran. I then went up to Kaira. Her abdomen was soaked in blood. Luckily she had kept pressure on it, mostly.

"El—" Kaira barely choked out.

"Don't talk, Sweatheart. I got you." I told her.

I picked her up bridal style and carried her out.

"Hardison, Parker, I got her. Where's the ambulance?" I asked, the panic rising in my voice.

"El—"

"Kaira, save your strength, mama okay?" I was close to tears.

"It—okay—" Kaira trailed off and went limp.

"Where's the ambulance?!" I got loud.

"Right outside, man." Hardison reported.

I got Kaira outside and they got her loaded in the ambulance. Kaira's blood caked my hands, and I noticed there was some in my shirt. Hardison came over.

"Hey, the driver said we could follow the ambulance, Parker's meeting us at the hospital once she's done. Lets go!" Hardison yelled at me.

I got in the van and Hardison followed the van. We couldn't go in the ambulance bay, so Hardison parked as close as he could to the enterance.

We ran inside and ran up and found Kaira on the gourney, surrounded by a hoard of doctors and nurses. She was barely alive. Kaira coded a couple times before they rushed her out to surgery. A doctor came up to us.

"We're taking your wife into surgery, Mr. Spencer. She did loose a lot of blood, so we're gonna have to transfuse some to replace it. I'm gonna have a nurse take you to get the paperwork sorted. She's in good hands." The Doctor told me, a calmness to his voice I wish I had right now.

"Is she gonna make it?" I can't help but ask, my heart still racing but I can hardly breathe.

"It's gonna be touch and go, but she should be okay." The Doctor assured me.

"Thank you." I gave him a nod and he left.

I rub my face and I really wanna throw something and scream right now.

"She's gonna be okay, man. You know how tough she is. Let's get the paperwork done okay?" Hardison tried leading me away, but I slapped his hand away.

"I can't leave her, Hardison." It's taking everything in my body to not yell right now.

"Eliot, you did all you could do. She's in good hands. I'm gonna run to the van to get you a change of clothes and a couple other things. Come on." I allowed Hardison to guide me to the waiting area.

Hardison came back with clothes to change into. As I was changing, I was praying the whole time. Praying that the best thing in my life wouldn't be taken away from me. Cause that's what Kaira was. Cause Kaira showed me that I could be a better man. She saw the good in me, even after the things I've done, all the blood on my hands. She loved me for everything I was. She made me a husband and a father to three amazing kids. And I was not gonna end up a widow today. And our children were gonna have their mother.

I went back to the waiting room and sat down. As I was filling out the paperwork, Parker came over to us.

"Kaira—"

"She's in surgery now." Hardison told her.

I filled out the last form.

"Okay. What are the doctors saying?" Parker asked us, pacing.

"They said she lost a lot of blood and it was gonna be touch and go. She coded a couple times before they took her into surgery." I tell Parker, trying to keep it together for all of us.

Then Hardison's phone was vibrating. He looked at it.

"It's Riley. I filled them in on what was happening when I went to the van." Hardison told us before answering the phone.

"Riley. She's still in surgery." Hardison then lowered the phone and looked at me.

"Riley's asking if you want the kids here."

Damn it! I really don't want my kids to see me like this. Cause I am close to reaching my breaking point. But it's their mother that's in surgery. They deserve to be here. I give Hardison a nod that it was okay. Hardison put the phone back to his ear.

"Eliot says it's okay. All right, see you then." Hardison hung up the phone.

"Riley's gonna be here in about 10 minutes." Hardison told me.

I nodded again. We then looked at Parker.

"Everything done at the warehouse?" I asked Parker.

"Yeah, McSweeten and Taggart's guys got everyone locked up." She told us, still pacing.

She was shaking her arms, and I can't help but think of Kaira doing that. Cause she'd do that when she was in a high stress situation. I've only ever seen Kaira do it twice. First time was when Maggie was framed for a theft, and got herself kidnapped with Nate. The other time was when one of us was in danger. I looked at Parker and Hardison.

"Do one of you want to tell me why Kaira was blown?" I was angry.

"Kaira's alias wasn't pinged, man. I checked twice already." Hardison explained.

"Well they knew her somehow, Hardison!" I tried to not get loud, but I couldn't help it.

"Eliot, hang on a second." Parker had stopped pacing and was now beside Hardison.

"What is it, Parker?" Hardison asked her.

"The smuggler knew her as Kaira Newton, not Spencer." Parker point out.

I thought back to the conversation and heard the smuggler call Kaira "Kaira Newton" and then the gunshot. I flinch slightly at the memory. I sighed.

"Dammit! You're right. Everyone in our current circles knows her as Kaira Spencer. She stopped going by Newton after we got married." I explained.

Hardison caught on.

"So either the smuggler knew who Kaira was before—" Hardison looked at us.

"Or someone who knows Kaira told the smuggler." Parker finished.

I did not like this at all.

"I'm on it." Hardison had his bag in hand and pulled out his laptop.

Then I saw the kids and Riley come in.

"Papá!" They yelled and ran up to me.

I got down, absorbing their impact and hugged them.

"Hey!" I can't help but chuckle a bit.

Then they let go and looked at me.

"Where's mama?" Sophia asked me.

I'm fighting back tears.

"Your mom got hurt. So the doctors are fixing her up." I tell them.

"Is she okay?" Nathaniel asked me.

"As far as I know." I tell them the truth.

"Is mama gonna die?" Eli's question hit me right in the chest.

"Come here." I tell them quietly, and we hug.

"Your mom's the toughest person I know. Your mom will make it. She has to." I say that last part more for myself.

We hug for a bit and eventually we let go. We sit back on the chairs, waiting for an update. I have Eli on my lap, Nathaniel is on Parker's lap, since Hardison was still on the laptop, and Sophia was on Riley's lap. And it's obvious I'm barely holding it together. But I can't let my kids know how broken I feel. How helpless I feel because the woman I loves life is in someone else's hands.

After what felt like years, though the ticking clock on the wall said it was hours, the Doctor came in and walked up to us.

"Mr. Spencer?" I perk my head up and move Eli off my lap so I can get up.

Hardison then shut the laptop and put it back in the bag, and put Eli on his lap. I stand up and the Doctor same over.

"Is she okay?" I ask almost immediately.

"Your wife's okay. She's in our recovery wing as she wakes up." I let out the breathe I was holding.

"When can we see her?" I ask as everyone gathered by me.

"As soon as she's cleared, we'll transfer her to a regular room. I'll have someone take you to her room once we gets transferred." The Doctor told me.

He left. I all but collapse back in the chair, relieved as all hell. I could tell everyone else was too. The kids all hug me.

"Moms gonna be okay, papá." Sophia told me, a smile on her face, her eyes wet.

And for a split second, I see Kaira's face. I start tearing up and pull my kids in a little closer.

"I know." I barely get out.

I then feel three more sets of arms around me.

"It's okay, Eliot. Kaira's gonna be okay." Hardison reminded me, as if I needed it.

Actually, I probably did thinking about it. I don't usually cry. In fact, the only times I remember crying was watching Kaira walk down the aisle, watching Kaira have the twins, and when she had Eli. I guess that's what happens when you meet someone you love. You can tear down the walls you built up.

After a while, we were called down to Kaira's room. She was still asleep. I held her hand, holding it up to my face, kissing her hand every so often. Hardison, Parker, and Riley were off to the side. I heard Kaira groaning, and I perked up. Hardison and Parker came over. Kaira slowly opened her eyes, getting used to the light.

"Hey, sweetheart. You're okay." I stroked her hair to help her calm down.

I started tearing up slightly again. After a minute, Kaira seemed fully awake now.

"Eliot?" Her voice was really horse.

"I'm right here, sweetheart. Hardison and Parker are here too. So are the kids." I told her.

Kaira saw everyone and had a small smile on her face.

"I'm not dying anytime soon, Eliot."

Dammit, woman! I can't help but chuckle as Kaira groaned and adjusted herself to get comfortable. I leaned over the railing and kissed Kaira on the lips.

"You better not." I warned her.

She smiled again and stroked my hair.

"Okay." Kaira said quietly.

"You really scared us, Kaira." Parker walked over.

"I'm sorry. I should've paid better attention." Kaira tried blaming herself.

"Don't do that, Kaira. I should've been there." I told her.

"Baby, it's okay. Don't blame yourself." Kaira told me.

Then the kids slowly came over. I could see Kaira light up more.

"It's okay, my loves." Kaira extended her arm.

The kids smiled and climbed on the bed. Kaira moved over and I laid down beside her, her head resting on my shoulder. The kids were in between us. Then Parker laid beside Kaira, her head on Kaira's shoulder, then Hardison beside her. I told Riley if they wanted to, it was okay to leave, so Riley did.

And we must've fallen asleep, cause we woke up to a nurse coming in. Then Parker and Hardison got kicked out for the night as visiting hours were over, though I tried like hell to argue that they were Kaira's family as much as the kids and I were, even trying to say that Hardison and Parker were the kid's godparents. Hardison said he needed to go back anyways, as he needed to check on a couple things he found that would explain why Kaira's cover was blown. Parker refused to let Kaira go, so she stayed.

The next day, Hardison came back and told us why Kaira's cover was blown. Apparently, the smuggler knew Kaira's family, and had tried screwing them over, so they told him to go. So he shot Kaira in retaliation.

Kaira did get better. But that was the scariest moment I've had. Cause I nearly lost the woman I love. And I swear to God it's never gonna happen again. Not if I'm around.

(A/N) How did you like it? Sorry about how emotional it was! I promise the next one will make up for it, as it involves Christian Kane and Y/N again! Trust me, it'll be adorable!
