(A/N) Hello!
So this chapter I've been working on for a bit. It was requested by Aphrodite on AO3, so I hope this lives up to your request!
Ths story is another Christian Kane x Reader, so hope you like it!
That's all I have for now!
Hope you enjoy!
It was a couple years after Leverage ended. You and Chris were living life, loving raising your twins together, and waiting for your son to be born, though you really didn't tell many people, only close family. You still kept in contact with your friends from the cast and crew.
You were watching from the wings, seeing Chris perform for the crowd of his loyal and loud fans at a bar in Oklahoma, where you live together. The babysitter was watching the twins, so it was just you and Chris. You loved watching him perform, as it was obvious how much he loved it, cause when he did, he'd be looser, and smiling a big smile. Chris had performed a few songs, then he performed "Different Kind of Knight".
After he finished the song, the crowd roared! You smile and clap along with them, yelling in delight. Chris took a swing of the beer he was drinking all night and went up to the microphone.
"You know, I used to say."
The crowd was still loud, so Chris had to mime telling them to quiet some so he could be heard.
"You know, I used to say I wrote that song to apologize to women for the way that I am. But there's one woman in my life who's stuck by me." He then turned to face you, a smile on his face.
You turned bright red.
"Darlin' why don't you get on out here." Chris held his arm out as you walked up to him, giggling, as you heard the crowd cheer for you.
You hugged him and gave him a peck on the cheek. Chris then had his arm around you as he leaned into the mic.
"Real quick, can we give some love to Y/N?" Chris asked the audience, who once again loudly cheered as you chuckled again, now blushing.
"You're making me blush, guys." You can't help but chuckle into the mic.
"Now, I met this woman while shooting Leverage, and I'll tell you what, she never fails to put a smile on my face." Chris smiled at you, but you didn't know what he was planning.
"Now this next song I'm gonna sing, I don't know if I ever told you this, darlin, but I wrote it after we met actually." I crowd cheered at the revelation, and you smiled.
"Actually, I have some more friends I'd like to invite on stage, if you don't mind." The crowd cheered as you noticed Aldis, Beth, Gina, and Tim come on stage.
You laugh as you and Chris hug them one by one. Then they stood off to the side as Chris went back to the mic.
"Y/N can you stay up here during this song?" Chris asked you.
You nodded yes. Once the crowd calmed down some, Chris held your hand and went back to the mic.
"Actually, there's a reason I invited our friends here today, and it's because there's somethin' I've been wantin' to ask Y/N." Chris chuckled as the crowd got loud again.
You had no idea what was up his sleeve.
"I've never been good at speeches, so I'm hoping this song says it all." Chris let go of your hand and signaled the band.
The band started playing, and you recognize the song as "More Than I Deserve". Chris started singing, looking right at you. You just smiled during the whole performance, because it was obvious that Chris was singing to you. Once the song was over, everyone cheered and Chris patted his chest, which you knew was his way of thanking the audience. Then he went back to the mic.
"There's been somethin' I've been wanting to ask Y/N and I thought to myself, why not ask in front of our friends and family." The crowd was still rowdy.
Your heart was racing, still having no clue what Chris had up his sleeve. He took the mic off the stand and turned to Aldis quickly, but you didn't see what he was handed. The crowd started yelling as Chris faced you again, having a big smile on his face. You started covering your mouth, both out of nervousness and excitement.
"Darlin, why you chose this cowboy, I will never know, but I'm so glad you did. I'm gonna keep this short, so I'm just gonna ask." Chris paused to get his breath, putting the mic back on the stand.
He then got down on one knee, opened the ring box you now knew he got from Aldis, causing you and the crowd to gasp, cheer, and freak out. You and Chris just kept chuckling, waiting for the crowd to die down some so you could hear each other.
"Y/N, will you marry me?" Chris had that wicked smile you loved.
You were still covering your mouth, so you just nodded yes, too speechless to actually give a verbal response. Chris's face lit up in delight as he got up and kissed you hard. You were too focused on each other to see Aldis lean into the mic.
"What'd she say, man?" Aldis was hyping up the crowd.
He put the ring on your left ring finger, had his arm around you, and leaned you into the mic.
"She said yes!" Chris all but yelled in delight as he kissed you again, now slightly rocking out of excitement, the crowd going crazy!
You both then went to hug your friends and the bandmates as they congratulated you both. You were slightly tearing up at the pure happiness you felt. As Chris was finishing up hugging everyone, ending with doing his handshake with Aldis, you leaned into the mic.
"Oh my god, you guys!" You started chuckling, it still sinking in.
Chris came back over and wrapped his arm back around you.
"What'd you think, darlin'?" He looked over to you, speaking into the mic.
You leaned into the mic.
"You are something else, Chris." You had a big smile as you kissed each other again.
"Ah you know me, darlin'." Chris teased slightly.
Nothing would ever beat this feeling right here. You chuckle.
"You guys, I'm the luckiest son of a bitch on the planet to do what I love with this amazing woman, and I'm so glad that I get to call her mine, cause man." He patted his chest again, causing the crowd to cheer.
You gave his shoulder a squeeze to show you were there.
"She does it all so I can come out here and perform for all y'all, and I can't wait to spend forever with you darlin'." He smiled at you and you hugged.
Once you let go, you leaned into the mic and looked at Chris.
"Chris, I'm so thankful that I get to be apart of your life. You're a gigantic pain in my ass." You chuckle, and the crowd laughs and Chris chuckled, getting red in the face.
"But I love you, and can't wait to raise our family together forever." You lean into him to side hug him and you felt him kiss your cheek.
His hand rubbed your side as you let go. Your castmates were now hanging out in the wing.
"How would you like it if Y/N stuck around and performed a song?" Chris asked into the mic, smiling at you.
You chuckled, knowing what he was doing as the crowd yelled their approval. One of the bandmates got another mic set up for you. You quietly thanked him and leaned in, chuckling as Chris went to his mic.
"You're such an ass sometimes, you know Chris?" You tease Chris, you both chuckling.
"Oh, you love it." Chris teased back.
"This next song we're gonna sing, I think you all know." Chris turned back to the bad and back to the mic.
The next song they played was "Whiskey in Mind". You both performed together, with you performing the "She said there's certain things a woman can tell about a man." line and all the lines from the female's perspective.
After the crowd cheered, everyone was yelling for you to do an encore, so you and Chris both performed "Let Me Go." You once again did the "how's about Texas?" line, and the final verse, performing the final chorus together. You did love performing, even if you didn't do it as much as Chris. After the song, the crowd roared! You could feel the energy, and it was electric!
"Give some love to my amazing fiancé Y/N, y'all!" Chris egged the crowd.
You chuckled, blushing once again.
"Thanks, y'all!" You were giggling as you absorbed the applause.
After giving Chris a peck on the cheek, you went into the wings so Chris could finish the show. While in the wings, you watched as Chris performed a couple more songs. Then as he usually did, he ended the show with "The House Rules".
When he sang the chorus before getting to the second verse, you got ready for a gag you had prepared. You grabbed a thing of Mardi Gras beads that you bought from the store and waited, timing it right. When Chris sang the "Where the girls do the thing with the Mardi Gras beads", you revealed yourself slightly on stage, throwing the beads at Chris, and he missed! You could see the silent "Dammit!" on his face, which caused you to bust out laughing!
Then after "rule number 7 says don't touch the women but they can grab whatever they want to." Chris did his usual bit of grabbing his crotch, and the band stopped. He turned towards you, a massive grin on your face as you walked over, laughing as Chris just looked at you.
"You missed!" You yelled loud enough for the crowd to hear as you hugged Chris, laughing.
The crowd laughed.
"Dammit Y/N!" Chris brought out the Eliot voice, causing your face to drop slightly, then bust out laughing.
"I'm sorry! It was too easy!" You all but high-tailed it off stage.
The crowd was eating it up!
"My fiancé y'all." He chuckled before signaling the band to continue.
That was the last song and you came out for bows. As you were blowing kisses to the crowd and waving, thanking them, Chris leaned into your ear.
"You wanna tell them?" Chris whispered to you.
You have a nod it was okay.
"Before we end the night, y'all, Y/N's got something to say." Chris moved so you could get to the mic, his arm around you.
"So to thank you all for the love you've shown us today, I thought I'd share something that we've been keeping to ourselves." The crowd got rowdy as you saw the cast on stage.
"Chris and I are having a baby boy!" You yelled in the mic.
See, you hadn't exactly told Chris that you were expecting another boy, so in between the crowds yelling, the cast clapping along with the crowd, Chris just hugged you hard and kissed your cheek. You hugged the cast, and they have their congratulations. After that, you leaned into the mic.
"I may not have told Chris that we were having another son." You chuckle as you see Chris's smile of happiness.
He went to the mic and wrapped his arm around you.
"No, you didn't." Chris hugged you again as the crowd chuckled.
"I'll say it again, I'm the luckiest son of a bitch to get to do what I love with the people I love, and the best fans in the world." Chris patted his chest again.
"Thank you all for the love! It really does mean the world to us." You blew a kiss to the crowd.
You did your bows and everyone left. You and Chris headed back home for the night.
You walked in and heard your twins yelling in delight. You and Chris got down and absorbed their impact as they hugged you.
"Hey! What are you two doing up?" You asked your kids.
"Waiting on you." Your daughter smiled the goofiest smile, causing you and Chris to smile.
"Alright, you two, let's get you to bed. Come on!" Chris picked up your son and you picked up your daughter and headed to their room.
You got them tucked in, and said your goodnights. Then you and Chris went to bed, the feeling of ecstasy still coursing through you both from the show. You had built your own little family, and nothing felt better.
There wasn't a need to rush getting married, so you waited. You had your son, and continued living the dream, working on several projects yourself and Chris working on his. You and Chris didn't get married until 2019. You were all in Cebu, filming Almost Paradise. Chris was playing Alex Walker, and you were playing his former partner Evelyn Mahony.
During one of the shoots, there was a wedding set. So you and Chris had gotten permission to use the set for your own wedding. I mean, it was gonna get torn down, so why not? You had the cast and crew there, as well as your Leverage cast there for a couple days. It was the best day of your life! Tim and Gina have you away. Aldis and Art were Chris's groomsmen, and Beth and Sam were your bridesmaids. It was a small event, but it was perfect.
Then as a wedding present from Dean Devlin, he told Chris to stop cutting his hair, and that you were returning to the roles of Eliot Spencer and Kaira Newton. You and Chris were thrilled! Not only were you returning to the role that started your crazy, exciting, and new life, but thanks to some convincing, you were able to have your kids on set.
The fans were amazing to you, loving seeing Kaira on screen again. Even when the world shut down, multiple hurricanes and storms, the cast and crew made it work. Then after you had wrapped Leverage: Redemption, you not only found out you were getting a season 2, but that Almost Paradise had been picked up for a season 2! Everything was going great for you!
Every once in a while, you'd think about the song Chris sang before he proposed. Ironically, it was the same song Eliot had sung to Kaira before he proposed to her. For the scene, the song was supposed to symbolize how Eliot knew he was never gonna be enough for Kaira, and she was more than he deserved. In reality, Chris had written the song because he thought he'd never be the one for you.
But you both realized you were better together, and together you built something extraordinary, which is more than you deserved. But you're thankful every day you get positive messages from fans, and wake up and do something you love.
(A/N) So at the end, this chapter got a bit Meta, and I'll tell you why.
So when I started writing "The Hitter's Girl", I had mostly done it because I loved Leverage, and I couldn't get the idea out of my head. I didn't expect it to gain popularity at all. I'm not even the best writer out there. But when it was on Wattpad, and I saw the notifications of people voting on it, and commenting saying they loved it, I was stunned! And it encouraged me to keep going with this story! While I stopped using Wattpad, I continued writing my story on AO3 and the love you've given me means a lot to me! Every single kudo, every comment, every hit, even every favorite on here, it means a lot to me that people can find enjoyment in what I created. What a journey it has been!
Now it's been a year and a half. A lot happened in my life in that year and a half. I started a new job, I started taking better care of myself, I'm gonna be moving into my first apartment July 2nd, a pandemic was happening, and still is, I finally had started therapy to get my mental health back on track, which I'm proud to say my last appointment happened just last Friday. Leverage came back as Leverage: Redemption, and I made another story based on that show that's getting a second season!
What I didn't expect when I started this story was how much it would change my outlook on life. I used Kaira's journey of self-discovery and overcoming her own demons to fuel my own journey. I've even met my two bestest friends in the world through this story.
To AlexCooper250: Thank you for being there when I've had my bad days, when work was too much, when I was struggling with ideas, you've always been there. You celebrated my wins with me, and showed me I didn't have to be alone in the world. You'll always be my chaos maker!
To Love_Writing_1: We've only known each other a couple of months now, but I love talking to you every single day! We helped each other through our bad days, and there's no other person I'd stay up way too late shit talking about Supernatural with. You are an amazing writer CJ, and you're ideas are limitless! You really helped me to understand the kind of impact my story had on people, and I'm grateful! You'll always be my smartass.
Don't worry y'all, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. But it may be a while before I make another short, as not only am I about to move, but I have other projects I need to work on. But I do have another short in mind, also requested by Aphrodite! It just may take a bit for me to get it in stone.
Thank you all so much! While I wouldn't say I have any sort of following, the people who do follow me, y'all are the best fans I could have! If I could, I would hug every single one of you! Cause without you all encouraging me, I don't think I'd be where I am at right now.
Cause that silly little story I created because of my obsession with Leverage has turned into 2 more books, and a year and a half of work that's getting bigger by the day. I never thought this would happen, so thank you!
As always, remember to favorite, share, and comment! Much love to you all! Stay safe!
Kaylee
