After being informed of a case involving a veteran kidnapping an administrator from the VA, Kensi and Deeks were tasked back to the hospital that Kensi had been a patient at for months.

"We have to speak to a few more administrators, but if you think of anything, please don't hesitate to call. Okay?"

"Hey, I remember you." The front desk clerk said after Kensi handed her her card. Kensi was a bit taken aback at the comment. "You were injured. You were in here. I'm glad to see you're better."

"Thanks." Kensi said, visibly shaken as she made her way out.

The team finally received the information on the case they were missing. They had an identity now, and were investigating Charles Langston, one of Hetty's old teammates from her and Granger's time in the CIA. They were all in the boatshed, the Admirals and Hetty finally giving up the information the team had been missing until that point.

They explained how they stayed back in Vietnam to rescue covert operatives, and how Granger was one of those operatives.

"I'm sorry, can we just stop for a second here, did you say that Granger was involved in this?" Kensi asked.

"He was one of the operatives we stayed to recover." Hetty explained.

"Hetty, have you heard from him?" Callen asked.

"Not yet. No one has."

"Come on Henrietta." Admiral Chedwiggen said. "If he's not already dead, we both know he will be soon."

Everyone in the room grew solemn.

Kensi and Deeks were dispatched to the pawn shop that Charles Langston ahd shot up earlier that day. Kensi was searching in the back while Deeks was up front playing on some bongos he found.

"Hey babe. Deeks. DEEKS!" Kensi yelled to get Deeks' attention.

"Sorry."

"I already sent the security footage to ops. Um, what did you find around here?"

I found this, which you can buy me for my birthday, and I found something magical." Deeks said as he stood up.

"Ready for this?" He asked as he approached a mannequin head adorned with a wedding veil.

"So I know that boyfriends are not supposed to weigh in on this sort of thing, but i saw it and i thought that you would look, you know, absolutely beautiful wearing it, so."

Kensi let out a quiet gasp. "Um… that's really pretty. It's beautiful."

"What. Just. Happened? Did i just say something idiotic?"

"No. No. I'm fine."

"What's going on?... Baby?"

"Um. Since I lost my dad, I was… I was hoping to ask Granger to walk me down the aisle."

"Yea. Yea. He would have. He would have loved that."

They wrapped the case after retrieving Captain Langston, but they still had to search for the missing gold. Until they got a new lead, there was nothing left to do, so the team sat back in the bullpen writing their after action reports.

The team were all focused on their laptops when Hetty's presence interrupted them.

"Ms. Blye? A word. Hetty said as she made her way toward her office.

Deeks and Kensi made eye contact and Kensi shrugged indicating she didn't know what this was about. Kensi made her way over to Hetty's office.

"Have a seat, my dear."

Kensi did as Hetty asked.

"Would you like some tea?"

"No thank you. I'm fine." Kensi said.

Hetty remained quiet for several moments while she poured herself a cup of tea.

"Hetty, what's going on?" Kensi asked.

"Actually Ms. Blye, that's exactly what I was going to ask you."

Kensi furrowed her brow. "What do you mean?"

"Is everything alright?"

"Yea, why?"

"You just… don't seem like yourself lately."

Kensi sighed. "I mean, it hasn't exactly been the easiest year." Kensi laughed lightly.

"No. I would imagine it hasn't." Hetty said sadly.

"I'm ok though, Hetty. Really. You don't have to worry. I'm here, I'm alive, and I'm good."

"And I'm sure visiting the VA hospital earlier today wasn't the most pleasant experience."

Hetty, really. I talked about it with Deeks. I'm good. I'm not a patient there anymore, that's all behind me. I'm back, and I feel good. I promise."

Hetty considered her for a moment. "Very well. If there's ever anything I can do for you…"

"I know. Thanks Hetty." Kensi said as she got up to go back to the bullpen.

"What was that about?" Deeks asked when Kensi returned to her desk.

"Nothing, just checking in."

"About?" Sam asked.

"You know how she is. She'd never admit it but she's a complete mama bear. Wanted to make sure I'm good after revisiting the VA."

"And are you? Good?" Callen asked.

Kensi sent a narrow stare toward Callen. "Of course."

"Good." Callen replied.

"Do you really think Granger's dead?" Kensi asked quietly that night in bed.

Deeks sighed deeply from his spot cuddled behind Kensi. "I… I don't know. But, I'm sure wherever it is that he is…. He's as grumpy as ever."

Kensi let out a small snort. "Yea…. maybe." She replied.

Deeks kissed Kensi's shoulder. "Do you want to talk about it?"

Kensi thought for a moment before speaking. "No. No, I'm ok." She said.

"Sure?" Deeks asked tiredly.

"Yea….yea, go to sleep." She replied.

"K." Deeks said before he promptly fell asleep.

Kensi stayed awake for several more hours, thoughts racing through her mind. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore, and carefully removed Deeks' arm from around her waist and got up to go to the bathroom. She took out one of her boxes of tampons and dug through it until she retrieved the familiar orange bottle filled with pills and dry swallowing two of them. She placed them back in her hiding spot and spent several long moments staring at her reflection in the mirror before she felt the effects of the drugs and went to lay down. She, too, was asleep within a matter of seconds after her head hit the pillow.
