Shattered Ice: Super Sailor Mercury
Chapter 55
Out on the streets of Tokyo, a mob of monsters were attacking anything they could reach. Big, small, humanoid and very much not. Facing them in combat were an oddly miss-matched group of five sailor senshi...
Galaxia scowled as she watched events unfold. "ANOTHER Sailor?" she growled.
Sailor Fireball... the woman was annoyingly familiar, but again Galaxia couldn't place her. She DID feel certain she knew who she was. Maybe the planetary leader from one of the worlds they planned to strike? It would make sense.
She contacted the control room. "What is going on?" she demanded.
Lead Crow answered, "We're having the stadium evacuated due to the monster attack. Despite that, we have found several viable targets."
Galaxia bit back a growl. The idea had been to get the WINNERS... not 'viable targets.' This whole plan was falling apart. "I want Star Seeds!" she said flatly, "Get them for me! Or there will be consequences."
Lead Crow started to respond, then Galaxia cut her off.
With a sigh Galaxia sat back, watching the mayhem outside. The monsters were all leftovers from other entities that had tried to take over. Did those other entities sense the latent power of the Star Seeds? Or had something else drawn them here?
Galaxia decided it didn't matter. Only her quest for power was important... and she would no longer allow failure.

Things were nearly as chaotic inside the stadium. There was screaming, panic and huge crowds, all of which was hard for staff to handle.
'At least it does look like they're evacuating the facility capably,' Ami Mizuno noted. Though she was trying to keep an eye out for any kidnapping attempts. The chaos would give the enemy a good opportunity to try...
"Ami!" Setsuna forced herself through the crowds.
"We've got to get outside," Ami said as the group headed to the exists. She also felt relieved to have Setsuna nearby... she wasn't just her girlfriend, she was reliable. Ami dropped her voice, "We don't dare transform here, there's cameras everywhere."
"Agreed," Setsuna quietly answered as Naru, Umino and Miss Haruna neared. She nodded to the older woman, "Any idea what's going on?"
"Apparently there's a huge monster attack nearby," Haruna deadpanned, "in other words, a typical day in Tokyo."
Naru snorted softly. "Ma'am," Umino scolded their teacher mildly.
"Where did the Three Lights go?" Naru asked the group, having seen the two members of the idol group there earlier.
"I suspect the publicists ushered them out," Setsuna noted dryly.
Ami made another mental note to try and check on them later. Their mysterious enemy might try a kidnap in all the chaos...
"Hey, we found you," Haruka and Michiru forced themselves through the crowds.
"Glad to see you're okay," Ami noted as the staffers directed the people through the exit doors. She introduced Naru and the others.
Things were almost as chaotic just outside the stadium, but at least they weren't boxed up. Less comforting was the fact that they could all hear the monsters roaring and the sounds of fighting off in the distance.
"Miss Haruna, we should hurry back," Naru said firmly, "I'm sure the substitute and our class are worried."
Umino agreed, "They've probably seen the monster attack on the news."
"We'll be fine," Setsuna chimed in, and with that the three hurried off. Naru did look back at Ami, nodding at her firmly.
"Do you get the feeling she deliberately got them to go?" Michiru wondered aloud as they looked for a hidden place to transform.
"I'm certain of it," Ami said. The team found a deserted alley, summoned their transformation wands and transformed...

Iron Mouse did her best not to scream in terror as she blasted a group of monsters, got their attention then lead them back to the main mob. "Who's stupid idea was it to have them chase us?!" Iron Mouse bitched.
"YOURS," Star Healer answered.
"And you LISTENED to me?" Iron Mouse answered.
"DEATH RIBBON REVOLUTION," Sailor Saturn said flatly, then unleashed her attack, killing several monsters instantly.
Chibi Moon ducked under a claw strike, then thrust her wand up and cried, "PINK SUGAR HEART ATTACK!" Transparent pink hearts bombarded the attacker, driving it backward.
"Gww ROWER," the monster staggered.
"I am so looking forward to my powers maturing," Chibi Moon sighed.
Before she could try to blast it AGAIN, a blurred figure struck. With no warning a sword cleaved the beast in two, then it crumbled to dust...
"Mercury!" Chibi Moon gasped in relief.
Mercury sheathed the sword over her shoulder, "Everyone all right?"
"So far. I'm sorry we disobeyed you, but Healer and Iron Mouse needed help...," Chibi Moon quickly explained.
"It's fine," Mercury waved that off.
Chibi Moon nodded, relieved. "Are the others...?" she started.
"WORLD SHAKING!"
"NEPTUNE DEEP SUBMERGE!"
"DEAD SCREAM."
The combined attacks slammed into the lead monsters, annihilating them, blasting back the others and leaving a HUGE crater.
"Never mind," Chibi Moon sighed in relief.
Star Healer and Iron Mouse dropped down beside them. "Where are Fighter and Maker?" Healer asked Mercury.
"Your manager escorted then to safety," Mercury said dryly.
Star Healer visibly winced at that piece of news. "It's going to be hard for them to get away," Healer sighed.
Sailor Star Fireball walked up, looking a little sheepish. Quickly she said to Healer, "I KNOW I was supposed to stay safe, but I couldn't just let you and Iron Mouse fight alone."
"Yoiu realize Fighter is going to freak?" Healer pointed out dryly.
Fireball winced, "Well, yes..."
"Please tell me you didn't drag my mother along?" Mercury asked them with a sigh.
"No, no she's fine," Fireball reassured her. Changing the subject she continued, "We should corral the remaining monsters and destroy them."
Mercury gave her a look, but really couldn't disagree. "Iron Mouse, Healer, you did a good job leading them away," she added, "thank you."
"Just.. doing what I thought you lot would do," Iron Mouse admitted sheepishly.
"Do you think your 'Moon Healing' can banish the mob?" Healer asked.
"I'm not sure what the upper limit is at one time, and I don't want to experiment when lives are at stake," Mercury admitted. "Pluto?"
Sailor Pluto hesitated before admitting, "I also don't know. Your limitations will be different from Sailor Moon's were, due to various factors."
Mercury nodded, "Then let's whittle the mob down first?"
"Good plan," Uranus agreed, hefting her sword cheerfully.
Chibi Moon puffed out a sigh of relief as she and Hotaru teamed up to handle some roaming monsters...

"It looks like it's just mopping up at this point."
Jadite and the Sailor Animates were watching things unfold from a nearby rooftop. They had pawned off overseeing the clean up to their staff, and switched to Sailor mode to see what happened.
Aluminum Siren pouted, "Should we be making them clean up OUR mess?"
"Hell yes," Lead Crow said flatly.
Heavy Metal Papillion frowned. "They defeated those monsters too easily."
"Easily?" Lead Crow asked. There had been a LOT of damage done... not much loss of life, admittedly. But the repair bill was going to be huge.
Sailor Tin Nyanko added, "I spent a LOT of time finding those monsters. Show some respect."
Ignoring that Heavy Metal Papillion continued, "The Sailors can, mostly, defeat the creatures with one shot. The problem they're having is just numbers."
Jadite watched as Mercury froze a enemy with a gesture, then shattered it. "Eeep," he muttered softly...
"When we DO face them, we'll need numbers on our side," Heavy Metal Papillion added, "or pick them off one by one."
To be continued...
Notes: I still haven't decided if Naru should tell off Mercury. Thoughts?
