When the time came that Danzo would attempt to take Shisui's eyes, I was already there waiting for him, masking my chakra so that none would notice me. I wore all black and had even worn clothing with a hood in order to hide my stark white hair, my face masked so that none would be able to recognise me. In order to blend perfectly, I had copied the appearance of one of the ANBU ninja so that as I dipped in and out of the fight, I would not be seen as out of place and would be able to more effectively get close to my targets.
Everything went very smoothly, all things considered. Danzo was not even aware that I had placed a partial genjutsu upon him hours beforehand, having bumped into him purposefully whilst in the village and that had been when I had used my Sharingan to get hold of him. I manipulated his visual receptors to trigger my genjutsu the moment he laid eyes on Shisui, doing the same for his ANBU squad so that as they moved, fought and took in information, their eyes were seeing everything in reality, except for when Danzo took one of Shisui's eyes. The right one.
He played the weakened role very well, casting down a smoke bomb in order to escape and that is when I used my chance to cancel the partial genjutsu upon Danzo and sustained him within a Tsykuyomi with my Mangekyo Sharingan. The bright red pinwheel swirled into life so that his perception of time was altered, allowing me to open his hand and place a fake Sharingan I had collected from the body of a recently deceased Uchiha. I winced as I did this, murmuring apologies in my head before I disappeared once more, drawing Danzo out of the Tsykuyomi so that he was none the wiser of anything ever happening.
It will be much later when he will realise that the Sharingan was not a Mangekyo, but by then it will be too late. Before the smoke had cleared, I was already pursuing after Shisui, ensuring that he was alright. The toxic gas that had been flung at him burst into a plume of bright purple which he unwittingly drew in, the toxins slowing him down. It was alright, I carried the antidote in my pocket, now I had to trust that Itachi would return in time to save him. I could already sense his approach, so I masked myself once more and disappeared from sight, going to the crevasse in preparation. Lying in wait out of sight, I hid underneath a rocky ledge with the chakra channelled into my feet and hands, hanging off the rock face rather precariously as I listened to Itachi and Shisui up above as they spoke to one another.
Shisui was losing his battle against that poison quickly, he would have to hurry things up if he has any hope of me administering the antidote in time. I could not hear all that was said, but I knew the two of them well enough that this was going to hurt Itachi deeply. Part of me almost did not want for this to happen, but I knew that it must. In order to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan, an Uchiha must experience pain and grief unlike any other, more than simply losing someone close to you. It had to be someone you trusted, who you loved as closely as your own blood, and Shisui was that to Itachi.
Clenching my teeth, I listened until the final farewell before Shisui then cast himself over the side of the cliff. Immediately I prepared my silk wire, drawing it free and once Shisui was close enough, I cast it out to snatch his wrist and he immediately grabbed hold of it as I blunted the wire with my chakra so that it would not hurt him, then opened up my Kamui in order to drop a fake body I had prepared earlier. It was the exact size and weight of Shisui, so that when it dropped down into the ravine it would recreate the same sound that would have been made had Shisui struck the water.
The moment I had closed my Kamui I drew Shisui up to me, hushing him softly as I pressed my back into the rocks and curled one arm around him, resting his body over my legs as I used my feet to ground me against the cliff then delivered him the antidote. I remained still for a very long time after that, practically holding my breath the entire time as I continued to sense Itachi above us. Gradually the antidote began to work, allowing Shisui to breathe a little easier, however his use of the Mangekyo Sharingan had exhausted him so he did not waken.
Unfazed, I continued to hold him, ensuring all was well before I brought him into my Kamui, where the both of us would be safe. "Shisui. Shisui. Shisui." Laying him down on the ground of a simplistic place I had created, I patted his cheek until his eyes had begun to flutter. "Wake up Shisui."
"Miyuki-chan…did it work?" I allowed myself a smile.
"Flawlessly." Immediately he slumped with relief, lifting his hands to his face in order to sit and process for a moment. I could see that Shisui still had both eyes, which was a good start. That meant that Danzo had a fake, and Itachi had not needed the other. By choosing to keep both, Shisui would not be impaired visually.
"Let me tell you, Miyuki-chan, I sure owe you one. I'd be dead if it weren't for you."
"Do not thank me, Shisui. You can never go back to Konoha, nor ever be sighted anywhere alive. Danzo would only come after you again, and we would be back to where we started. It is safer if you simply remain here in this dimension, where I can protect you."
"Inside your Kamui?" Shisui looked surprised, lifting his head and gazing around him. "How will I eat?"
"I can provide you with a real world in which you may live. It will not be for long, soon all of the Uchiha Clan will be joining you." As I spoke I snapped my fingers and the scene around us changed, creating an identical image of the Uchiha compound now completely vacant, but ready to be lived in. "You will be able to plough the fields and grow your own food and I can deliver livestock into this dimension for you to raise and eat as you like. It will be difficult, at first, but you will become accustomed to it."
"But you already carry half of the Nine Tails' chakra within your Kamui. To retain the entire Uchiha Clan as well, won't that be too much for you?"
"I am confident I can manage. The challenge will only be getting them here. Once they are transported, it will not be a drain upon my chakra. My memory is flawless, therefore there will be no discrepancies between this dimension and the real world. All you must do is ensure that no one finds and awakens the Nine Tails." Snapping my fingers again, Shisui stared wide eyed as the entire world around us shifted, travelling at high speeds to show him the way to where I had hidden the Nine Tails, deep within a cave protected by seals and a massive waterfall.
"The Fox Demon is behind there?"
"Hm." Shisui walked forwards onto the water to observe the entrance, studying it carefully in order to learn every vantage point and possible route of access.
"I shall protect it for you whilst I am here. You have my word, this demon shall never wake." Glad to hear him say so, I brought us back to the Uchiha compound I had created.
"When the others arrive, I shall instruct you all in how to suppress your chakra as not to overwhelm me. Were you all to work together, you could very easily force me to open my Kamui in order to let you out, but you must not do so until the time is right for you all to return. Even then…I am not certain Konoha and the Uchiha Clan will ever be true allies…"
"We will make them see. Make them understand. After what is to happen, Fugaka will have no choice but to change his mind and listen to you. Our clan view you as nothing less than royalty, if you give an order, it will be followed. Miyuki-chan, I think you underestimate your influence. Your presence here, and all that you can do, is nothing less than a miracle. I do not know how you came into being, but I think perhaps you were meant to save the Uchiha Clan, and the entire shinobi world." I hummed softly with amusement.
"That honour will belong to Sasuke and Naruto. I merely observe from afar and work from within the shadows, out of sight of others. Those boys will become heroes, and my fate has always been sealed from the very beginning." Slightly concerned, Shisui asked me what I knew of my fate, but I merely turned away with a smile. "It is fate that all things should die, it is merely the length of the journey which decides how soon death shall greet us."
"Miyuki…" Trailing off, Shisui stood there and stared at me as I made a few last touches upon this dimension that I was creating for him and in preparation of the arrival of my clan. A breeze sprung into life and stirred the trees, causing leaves to scatted and fall around us. One in particular caught my eyes as it flew close to me, dancing around my head before it landed at my feet, settling upon the ground never to move again.
"It is alright, Shisui." Looking back over my shoulder, I gave him one final smile. "I accepted my fate from the moment I was born. I shall come and see you whenever I am able, but you shall not be lonely." Gesturing, the figures of villagers sprung into life and animals began to materialise out of thin air. "I have a strong imagination…and shall keep you entertained until real company arrives. Farewell, my dear friend." Then I stepped out of my Kamui and back into the real world, suddenly feeling cold and desperately alone.
Almost the moment I felt that pang of isolation, a warmth rose from within my right eye but not one that was painful. Instead it felt oddly like comfort, and with a start I realised that it was Shisui conveying his feelings across the dimension and space of my Kamui, linked within my own chakra. Smiling, I allowed the warmth to spread across the entirety of my body, scolding myself for being so petty. I was not alone. I was never alone. I had Shisui and Itachi, Sasuke and my parents, my clan and all of Konoha behind me. I was not alone.
And I never had been.
