Etude Op. 10, No. 5 in G-flat Major ("Black Keys")
The sparkler fizzled and popped in his hand. Kai ran through the trees, laughing and whooping, the pale leaves of his yukata fluttering behind him. He waited, twirling, his sparkler illuminating the clearing.
"Kai-kun, wait up!" Amamiya's voice called after him, breathing hard. He stumbled into view, his blue-and-white sash hanging loose. "Do you ever wish we could've been happy and carefree as kids? Do you wish everything had been different?"
Kai shook his head resolutely. "I wouldn't change anything! About me, the piano, or you."
"And I'll always be glad. But I wish we could've . . . ." Amamiya trailed off, gesturing at the distant sounds of Obon filling the air.
"Well, let's be kids again, just for tonight."
"Just for tonight."
They disappeared into the forest, sparklers held high.
