Etude Op. 10, No. 8 in F Major ("Sunshine")
The crystal piano returned to the shopping center every summer, glittering with refracted sunshine, scattering rainbow droplets across the sidewalk. The senior musicians regaled new members with legends of the mysterious forest nymph. Said nymph was to appear, barefoot, at sunrise on the longest day of the year, possessing the ancient power to play any piece on sight.
"Sorry to disappoint. It's just me." Kai cheerfully told the traveling orchestra. New members cheered raucously, and returning members greeted him with a hug and a clap on the back. They opened with the traditional New World Symphony and played throughout the day, the sunlight casting the piano in a glowing halo.
"Until next year!" Kai gave a casual wave and disappeared, barefoot, into the sunset.
