Etude Op. 10, No. 11 in E-flat Major ("Arpeggio")
Kai stared into the little snow globe, entranced by the delicate dancer inside. He wound it and listened to its tinkling song. Iridescent snow settled over the dancer's outstretched arms. "It's lovely," he breathed.
"Do you like it?" Amamiya asked.
Kai nodded solemnly. "I love it! Thank you!" He slipped it gently into his bag and decided to put it on the piano.
They walked home hand in hand, a light dusting of snow catching on their woolen scarves and hats. Multicolored fairy lights twinkled from store windows, blinking in time to Carol of the Bells. Eager faces filled the streets.
Kai looked up at a dark sky filled with swirling snowflakes, shimmering with reflected moonlight. He inhaled deeply. "Amamiya?"
"Yes, Kai-kun?"
"Happy Christmas."

Author's note (spiteful): I hate Carol of the Bells with a passion.
Anyway, we now return to our regularly-scheduled fluff! I like to think that this is the scene that's described in the "winter" stanza in chapter 10. (But next up is Revolutionary so the fluff won't last long!)
