I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here Midoriya's road to becoming a pro hero commences…but also would led to an eventual encounter with the man who killed his dad…especially as Geese Howard is watching the UA Sports Festival and is observing Midoriya's every move…
Well then, read on and enjoy!
Ch. 5: Bijinesuman no han'nō
As an intermission took place before the Calvary Battle is set to begin, and there the UA students are seen scrambling around finding teammates they could join with as the Calvary Battle involves a team of four members, and the students are trying everything to recruit members.
"Join forces with me…"
"Team up with me…"
"Let me join you…"
"Lets work together…"
"Join me…I can help you…"
"We can do this…"
"Come on…let's team up…"
"We can advance to the next round…just join my team…"
Meanwhile, Hopper and Ripper were using some high-tech gadgets and are able to watch the events, and so far Midoriya hasn't shown any indication that he posses a Quirk, yet they continue to monitor the events as they were ordered to find out if Midoriya has a Quirk and what type does he possess.
"Yup. The green-haired kid is Midoriya."
"That kid?"
"Yup."
"I didn't see him show his Quirk. Does he really have one?"
"Boss told us to keep monitoring him. Maybe later he might show his Quirk. Though I wonder why he didn't show it when he was still a kid…"
"Maybe he's a late bloomer…?"
"Could be. And now is the good time to see what type of Quirk this Midoriya have…and what would the boss do next…"
"Right."
Hopper uses the device to monitor Midoriya and saw several UA Academy students turning down his offer because of his position of first place, and there Hopper told Ripper the situation and the two wondered if this is the moment where Midoriya would show if he has a Quirk as he is unable to find teammates.
"Everybody is avoiding him…"
"Looks like it…"
"Poor kid…"
"This could be it…"
"Huh?"
"We might see him show his Quirk…if he has one…"
"Yeah…"
"…"
As Ripper saw something he told Hopper about it and the two spies watched where they saw Midoriya finally gained members of his team, which includes:
- Ochako Uraraka
- Mei Hatsume
- Fumikage Tokoyami
Hopper was a bit disappointed as he is hoping that Midoriya might reveal his Quirk, but Ripper tell him to continue monitoring as there is a chance that they might see the boy reveal his Quirk for the first time.
Hopper sighed in dismay and just nodded as he continued to monitor the events as Ripper also watch the scene unfold, as a few minutes later the Calvary Battle has commenced, and the audiences watched on as teams consisting of four members began duking it out on each other by stealing headbands that are worth a lot of points.

At his corporate office, Geese Howard and Billy Kane watches the live feed via Hopper's device, and saw the Calvary Battle unfold, where Geese finds it a bit of a time waster as Midoriya seemed to be giving the instructions whilst Hatsume, Uraraka and Tokoyami were the only ones using their Quirks, though Billy urged his boss not to give up the program.
He reasoned that he believed that Midoriya may have obtained a Quirk through ILLEGAL MEANS, given that Midoriya was Quirkless from the start, hence he finds it suspicious as to how and why he was accepted at UA Academy and cautioned Geese not to be complacent as he had a feeling that Midoriya might pose a threat to him.
Geese, though initially dismissed such notion, is considering his right-hand man's words and decided to watch the Calvary Battle until it is finished, and after a few minutes of intermission the next round of the Sports Festival is revealed to be an eight-man tournament.
There the participants who passed into this round are revealed to be participating in this qualifier round, and the participants being paired, which are:
- Izuku Midoriya vs Hitoshi Shinso
- Katsuki Bakugo vs Ochako Uraraka
- Eijiro Kirishima vs Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu
- Mina Ashido vs Yuga Aoyama
- Momo Yaoyorozu vs Fumikage Tokoyami
- Hanta Sero vs Shoto Todoroki
- Denki Kaminari vs Ibara Shiozaki
- Tenya Iida vs Mei Hatsume
There Midoriya is facing Hitoshi Shinso and using the data that the hacker hacked, Billy learned about Shinso's Quirk, and there he tells Geese not to take his eyes off the TV as this is where they would see if Midoriya has a Quirk or not and how this would affect their next move from hereon.
"Boss…please observe that match."
"…"
"This could give us a clue if that boy really has a Quirk or not…"
"…oh, fine…"
"And in the event that he does have one, we may have to plan our next move. I have a feeling that the boy may have acquired an ARTIFICIAL Quirk…"
"How so?"
"Just a gut feeling."
"Fine."
Geese nodded and the two men watched on as the first battle commences as Shinso and Midoriya faced on, and in the first minutes Shinso uses his Quirk and BRAINWASHED Midoriya into walking out of the stage, which worked, and there Geese said that Midoriya will lose and believed that he is not a problem for him but Billy told his boss not to be complacent and keep watching.
"Don't assume too early."
"Huh?"
"Just keep watching."
"Why?"
"I have a feeling that this is where Midoriya would make himself apparent."
"Are you sure…?"
"Yes."
"…"
Indeed, as Midoriya miraculously managed to break free from Shinso's Quirk and partially uses his One For All Quirk and soon it became a physical battle where Midoriya and Shinso tried to push one another towards the arena border and Midoriya won in the end.
Geese was unsure about what he saw, as things were sudden but a very concerned Billy pointed out that Midoriya may have revealed his Quirk, which he believed to be an explosion-type, as both men are unaware of the nature of the One For All Quirk.
"You saw it just now, boss."
"…"
"The ground area of the arena blew up…where Midoriya stood…"
"…"
"Looks like we got a preview of what Midoriya is capable of…"
"…"
"Just keep watching…"
"…"
Seeing that Billy is right to be concerned, Geese decided to watch the whole live event and see where this would go and to see more of Midoriya's Quirk, believing that it was just a preview of what's to come, and there he secretly contacted Hopper and Ripper, telling them to discreetly keep an eye on Midoriya as much as possible.
Geese watched the rest of the qualifying rounds, and noted that Bakugo is another person to watch out for, seeing how the boy's Explosion Quirk functioned and how he was able to repel Uraraka's last-ditch strategy involving several debris.
The rest of the matches were deemed by Geese as insignificant, except for Todoroki, as he finds his Ice Quirk quite a problem if he and Todoroki were to cross paths.
Billy then pointed out that Iida is someone to watch out for as his Engine Quirk might be a problem though Geese said that it won't be after seeing how Iida fought, and finds it a bit easy to use MIND GAMES on him.
"Iida…isn't that the surname of…?"
"Yeah…one of those pro heroes with the name of Ingenium…"
"Hmm…I see…"
"Well, Iida is not a problem. We should focus on Midoriya. That brat is making me worried."
"Still I find him not to pose a threat…"
"Like I said, boss. That kid is bad news. Just watch."
"Fine."
"…"
Much later Geese and Billy watched the quarterfinals match between Midoriya and Todoroki, and there Geese became more concerned as he get to see more of Midoriya's Quirk, but noted the drawbacks such as injuring himself after every usage, and there Billy pointed out that it looked like Midoriya had just exhibited a Quirk just recently, as Quirks manifests during childhood, and since a decade ago Midoriya was Quirkless and he finds it very suspicious that Midoriya got a Quirk all of the sudden.
Geese considered Billy's words and slowly saw the logic in his right-hand man's words, and decided to keep tabs in Midoriya in case the teen boy decided to do an investigation on him and his secret dealings.
In the next minute Geese and Billy were surprised to see Todoroki unleashing the flame Quirk from his right side, and there Billy tells his boss to watch out for Todoroki, as they now know that the son of Endeavor has two hybrid-like Quirks.
"Great…now another threat to watch out for, boss."
"Shoto Todoroki…so he is…"
"The son of Endeavor."
"The power of fire and ice…this I did not expect."
"Now we have two brats to watch out for."
"You may be right…"
"…"
"…"
The live footage shows Midoriya was eventually defeated and saw both his arms GRAVELY INJURED, bloodied and all while Todoroki stood tall though he wasn't in a celebratory mood, and there Billy clutched his Bo staff as he is now sure that something anomalous happened as it is clear that Midoriya gained a Quirk JUST RECENTLY as shown that Midoriya has no control over it resulting in the boy injuring himself.
"This is why I'm wary towards Midoriya. A decade ago he said that he is Quirkless…but now he has one yet he acted like he just acquired it and couldn't control it."
"Are you…?"
"What I'm saying, boss…is that Midoriya may have gotten a Quirk through ARTIFICIAL means. He can't just gotten a Quirk all of the sudden."
"So then…"
"That kid must have used ILLEGAL MEANS to get a Quirk...and he is probably planning to get at you."
"I see. Thank you, Billy. Looks like I will make my move."
"Boss…"
"…"
While Midoriya is surely eliminated from the Sports Festival, Geese instructed Hopper and Ripper to find out where Midoriya would be taken and would want to know his current condition and everything else. Geese wants to be sure if Midoriya would still be FUNCTIONAL after getting such serious injuries.
Several minutes later Hopper and Ripper reported that Midoriya has recovered and said that they overheard the boy's classmates saying that Midoriya underwent SURGERY and that his right arm is heavily bandaged and in a sling, and there Geese is thinking of subtly doing something to keep Midoriya from advancing further.
Billy offered to take the job but Geese said there's no need to rush, as he has already have something in mind and he doesn't want Billy to be seen by prying eyes at the moment.
"Huh?"
"You heard me, Billy. I have someone else in mind."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"…"
"And if what we saw is an indication…we can use it against him."
"Sure?"
"Yes."
