Chapter 9

Diavolo...

Devildom...

She recalled Satan mentioning that Diavolo was the crown prince of Devildom during one of his many rants...so why in the hell was he summoning her of all people. Swallowing thickly she glanced at the other two males, the one who put her on edge the most was not the one who had her arms pinned behind her back but the one who stood to the side, a smile on his face as he emulated a butler.

There was something about him, it screamed at her to be careful. He was dangerous despite his friendly demeanor. Wisps of time magic seemed to wrap around his very being and it made her shiver, nope, she wanted nothing to do with him.

She trailed her gaze back to the one who had manhandled her, blinking as her gaze took in a familiar tall lean figure, ruby red eyes glaring down at her as four black wings fluttered behind him in agitation, where once there had been six white ones. Upon his head were a pair of curled black horns where a halo should have been.

There...there was no way...no he had died along with everyone else during the war, there was no way he was standing before her, glaring down at her like she was some stranger...who wanted to steal his candy or something.

"Lucifer...?" The emotion that layered his name made everyone still, tears gathered in her eyes as she reached a shaky hand through the lapels of the over-sized coat she flinched back as if stuck when he gave her a confused glare, the hostility on his face making her heart lurch.

Lucifer's world spun, a sharp ache in his head as the woman before him looked up at him with tears in her eyes. The emotion in her voice was so raw...it felt intimate, far too intimate and it made his pulse pick up as his fight or flight response kicked in.

Diavolo was hard pressed to keep the frown from his lips, glancing between the two before that stood before him. He felt like an outsider, like an intruder and it made his skin crawl with a slew of unknown emotions. Licking his lips he forced himself to clear his throat. "You two know each other?" His voice did not betray his confusion nor the foreign feelings bubbling under the surface and he was glad.

It was clear for him to see she was a raw bundle of emotions and he didn't want to set her off more than she had been.

Kagome blinked, tearing her gaze from who she assumed was her Luci, a thousand questions on the tip of her tongue yet she reeled them back in. She had to keep her cards close to her chest, despite the mistake she had already made with her display moments before. "Um, possibly...I could have him confused with someone else...you never did say why I'm here..." She was trying to shift the topic of the conversation, trying to buy herself some time to figure out what was going on here as well as gather her spiraling emotions.

Barbatos cleared his throat, gaining everyone's attention. "Maybe we should all sit down, I can brew us some tea while Ms. Kagome puts on some clothes?" He held up the female version of the RAD uniform, glad he had it prepared ahead of time.

Kagome blinked but nodded, "Please..." Her voice was low and timid, her gaze on the ground as she waited for their decisions.

Diavolo frowned, not liking the crestfallen demeanor she was now displaying compared to the spitfire that had landed on him and demanded answers just moments before. "Of course, Barbatos, show her to a room where she can change. Afterwards we will take tea here in my study." He moved to sit down, his gaze watching her small form as she shuffled after Barbatos, his coat dwarfing her small figure.

He had a feeling that this small woman was about to shake all three realms to its core and he hoped that his faith in his father was not misplaced.
