Chapter 28

Lucifer was a walking ball of piss and vinegar by the time he made it to his personal study. His ruby gaze glaring at everything it landed on. Even the large decanter of Demonus...flopping into the large plush wooden chair he quickly poured himself a glass.

It was five o'clock somewhere.

Raising the glass to his lips he took a long pull from the liquid, loving the way it burned a path down his throat to settle in his stomach. It helped soothe the raging storm of emotions Kagome had set off.

"Isn't it a bit too early for you to be dirking?" He closed his eyes, his teeth gritting at Satan's low amused tone. He always took pleasure in his discomfort in the past and this it seemed would be no different.

Snapping his eyes open he glared at the younger male, taking in the way he lounged on the chair opposite of his, a small smirk on his lips, fury dancing in his eyes. "Shouldn't you be in class?" It was more a statement than a question.

Snorting Satan shifted, resting his elbow on the desk, resting his cheek on his hand. "What the fuck is going on here Lucifer." His voice was tight, his wrath barely constrained despite the tight lipped smile on his face.

Lucifer longed to take another sip from his glass but decided to not give into the temptation. "It's exactly what I said early. Ms. Kagome is here as a part of RAD and as such it's up to us, more importantly me, to keep her safe until the year is over. Not everything is a plot against you, Satan."

Satan snorted, his gaze icy, "Mm'kay. So why the fuck do you care that I have a pact with her? Let alone a...relationship with her?" Okay, they hadn't really given what they had between them a title...just that they were more than friends but not ready to become official lovers in every sense of the word. He knew she had some hang up's from her last relationship. The man had broken her heart when he cheated on her with a succubus, she had left in the night and never looked back.

He himself didn't like being tied down, not that he was entertaining other lovers or anything. He wasn't like Asmo, if he was intimate with someone it was just that one person. Period. It was the fact that he enjoyed his freedom and not being held back from going and doing what he wanted.

Lucifer sighed through his nose, trying to find a way to nip this in the bud. Yes, he was glad Satan had found someone to truly care about, he had been worried the younger male was so full of anger and hate that he would never care about anyone but himself. All the fake smiles in the world meant nothing if there was no real feeling behind them.

Even so, of course the woman who had taught him how to feel, to truly smile from the bottom of his heart had to be Kagome. Who just so happened to be engaged to their lord and the prince of Devildom. The man while happy and easy going had a very possessive streak when it came to female's he was in a relationship with and he had no doubt should word get to him about Satan's relationship with her, let alone her tryst with Asmo, it would put his kin in danger and he didn't want to be stuck between them.

Not again.

"Look, it doesn't matter what the reason is. Whatever you had between you two is over as of now. I've told her the same thing and I expect you both to be civil but keep your distance. You can keep your pact but beyond that you will treat her like any other student in RAD. Now return to your classes." His tone said it all, this conversation was over and he was done with it.

Satan glared, wanting to yell and scream and fight. To dig his claws into his brother's flesh and defend what he had with his little miko yet he merely bit his lip. He would bide his time, he wasn't stupid there was something else going on, something much bigger then the RAD program and he would find it out. Until then he would wait, watch, and plot.

"Tch. Whatever...go back to your Demonus." With that Satan stood, stalking out of the room he slammed the door shut behind him dimming out his aura so as to drop off the radar as he made his way in the exact opposite direction that his brother had told him to go.
