...
Kotarou insisted that he and Tobari stay in the village overnight. Then he would send them off to Musutafu. Izuku had a small memory of the village that it had originally been. Only about a hundred people lived in it at that time. Now apparently it held a hero school.
No matter how much he hated humans and did his best to avoid them he did know of heroes. Those who were stupid about risking their own lives for those they didn't know. Kotarou wanted him to go to a school to teach children to sacrifice their lives. He didn't understand the reason why anyone would want to do that. Humans confused him more than any other creature.
Kotarou insisted that he and Tobari share a room. The man's insisted so that he could learn the man's scent. While he knew Tobari he had never spent significant time with him. With the full moon approaching, he needed to know the man's scent. Otherwise, he may kill the man without messing to. His instincts were strongest in the full moon.
Tobari allowed Izuku to do as he pleased even as he moved to the farthest corner. It put plenty of space but he would still be able to sense the man's scent. They were given light bedding and Izuku curled up on his. Soon he was asleep.
Only to wake up a few hours later covered in sweat. Flashes of steel and screams echoed within his mind. Memories that weren't memories. There were times when he saw a flash of green hair much like his own and a woman's face would appear in his mind's eye. As soon as it had appeared it was gone though.
As old as he was Izuku didn't know much about his origins. His earliest memories were waking up in the middle of a forest. Ears and tail had been a surprise to him and caused him a great many hardships. It had caused his village to turn against him. In turn, he had earned a dislike of all humans.
Dislike had turned into disinterest as he tried to stay away from them. It was rare that he found one that interested him. Tobari had been the first one in 200 years. Not since he met Yoichi Shigaraki, the sick boy who sought to save the world around him. Yoichi had been kind to him always bringing him warm food.
As kind as the sickly boy was he could not stand the older Shigaraki. His scent made his ears fold back and his nose crinkle. Izuku would go out of his way to avoid him. Using his illusions allowed him to visit Yoichi even when the man was there. Even if they had to be stealthy about it.
It was when he had gone off for a few weeks that something happened. A few times a year he would disappear to the forest. Illusions weren't the only ability he had that he couldn't explain. He could shift into a full fox form. It was the size of a medium-sized dog and weighed about forty-five pounds. Along with being able to change from human to fox, he could call it forth. Calling it forth was draining and he could only hold it for a few moments. He would only do so if he absolutely needed to.
His movements seemed to have woken Tobari. The man watched him with calm grey eyes. There was a question in them but he didn't voice it. He had learned his lesson from the last time. Izuku did not take kindly to questions about his past or his abilities.
Tobari said finally, "It's still early. You should try to get more sleep."
Izuku shook his head his ears flickering with annoyance. Tobari sighed before he rolled back over. He went back to sleep and Izuku lay on his back listening to the night.
It wasn't until about two hours later that he heard footsteps out their door. Immediately he wrapped himself in his illusions. It would appear to anyone who looked at him that he was asleep.
Two figures stepped into the room. One was a bulky figure with long dark hair. The other was thin and short. He thought they were part of the medic team of the clan. It would not do however to let his guard down. Slowly his hand went for the knife he kept on him at all times.
One bent to a knee to check on Tobari before saying, "Good he's asleep. Wake Midoriya so we can get them moving. I want to be halfway to Musutafu before Tobari wakes."
Izuku released his illusions and asked his voice as cold as ice, "Who are you? What are you doing in our rooms?"
Both figures startled. The bulky one stared at him in surprise. A woman of middle years with the darkest eyes. Her eyes trailed to where his hand was.
Raising her hands to show she didn't have any weapon she said, "We are moving you tonight. While Tobari is asleep so he cannot protest."
Eyes narrowed Izuku growled low, "Who are you?"
The thin one said, "We are medics of Fuuma. Tobari does not travel well and it's next to impossible to get him willingly on a vehicle. Even something as simple as a bike. So we are starting you off before he wakes so he can't protest."
Izuku asked, "Vehicle?"
"A car?"
Izuku gave them a blank look
"A train."
Still blank. The first woman laughed, "Oh poor Tobari. He is going to have a fun time trying to teach you. Does Kotarou know?"
"Do I know what?" Came Kotarou's familiar voice, "Good morning Izuku. Are you ready for travel?"
The first woman said, "Sir did you know he has never been in a vehicle?"
Kotarou blinked in surprise before laughing, "Of course, he hasn't. Izuku here dislikes humans greatly."
Izuku turned his head to the side as he said, "I don't dislike humans. Neither do I like them. I am simply indifferent."
Kotarou groaned, "We do not need a second Miharu. Honestly, the two of you have no need to hide your emotions."
"I was here first," quipped back Izuku.
Kotarou rolled his eyes before he said, "Go you little demon. You can bother them with your questions. I know you will have them. Despite your indifference towards the living beings you have an impossible kind of curiosity to things you don't understand."
"Fine," he drawled as he followed them. Kotarou would not lie to him about this. That he knew for a fact.
