The Kalos cavern was quiet. Cypress enjoyed silence. So much more efficient, secretive.

Cypress sat in a meditative position before the mound of black, jagged rock. Feeling the very roots of the earth, Cypress could sense that the Lord of Decay was here, ready for awakening. The Lifebringer would awaken as well, along with the Master of Order, but they would be to slow to prevent him from disrupting the balance of evil.

He had felt only a few hours ago the scales tip in the favor of light as a old power in the Ruins of Nuria had been lifted. No matter. He was about to sort the balance in his favor, greatly in his favor. The instability would totally destroy the land, ushering even more chaos for him to devour. The new world was to be created in the devastations wake, but destruction always made him giddy.

Cypress raised his arms, and purple beams of fire appeared around the mass of twisted rock. The flames began to burn through the rock, slowly but surely. When the rock was gone, he would awaken the great Lord of Destruction. Clutching the Obsida Nura ball closely, Cypress waited for the end.

Cypress sensed a presence, and turned to reveal six figures at the entrance to the cave. Cypress activated his night-eyes and saw Pokedex Holders X, Y, Gold, and Crystal along with Dianthia and Steven. How had they found him?

Cypress gathered himself and smiled warmly, if it could be called that. "Ah! Welcome, my guests! I am, I admit, surprised to see that you managed to find me. Do tell!" Gold glared. "We aren't going to get give you any answers, Cypress. Now, hand over that Poke Ball nice and easy, and maybe we won't have to hurt you." Cypress scowled. "It was Kurt, wasn't it? I should have checked the ball for trackers..no matter. Your presence is simply an annoyance. Now, leave." Trusting that the interference around his headquarters had prevented its location from being leaked, Cypress turned in dismissal, intent on watching the flames burn.

Cypress felt a sudden, painful force in his back, and he saw that Crystal had thrown a Pokeball with shuriken-like spines on it into his back. Cypress concentrated the healing factor, and the ball fell out and the wound resealed. "Wrong choice." He hissed. Summoning his blade, Cypress charged.

His opponents sent out their Pokémon, and a combined attack from X's team launched Cypress back onto the cave floor, blade askew. Looking up in surprise, Cypress saw that all of X's Pokémon were Mega Evolved. Impossible! How could he have done such a thing? Xerosic had said it was just a legend, but perhaps he had been comforting his long-broken pride at being defeated by the battle expert.

Cypress decided to stall, and he sent out his most powerful team to continue the fight, while he guarded the pillars of flame. Others would likely arrive soon, but it wouldn't matter. He would have captured his prize, and the new world would be one more contraction closer to birth.

As X, Y, and Steven held off his Pokémon, Gold, Crystal, and Dianthia rushed to continue the fight directly to Cypress. The demon launched bolts of violet energy, but the Champions Pokémon were too quick to be anything but grazed. Adjusting his tactics, Cypress blasted a hole in the cave wall, and was barley able to mentally throw Dianthia into the surrounding tunnels and close the opening before the imprisoned Champion's Pokémon began to attack him.

As Cypress fought back and healed, he saw that Gold and Crystal had extinguished two of the five flames by piling rocks on them. Cypress roared in anger, blasting the attacking Pokémon away. Summoning his blade again, Cypress hacked at the two Pokedex Holders and their Pokémon, preventing them from extinguishing the third flame. Gold's Exbo blasted Cypress with incinerating fire, but the Eclipse Lord continued to attack as his burns healed.

Cypress was getting close to injuring or killing one of the fighters, but as he bore down on Gold, a his flaming blow was intercepted by a bone. Surprised that his blade did not cut through it, Cypress saw that Crystal's Bonee was keeping him at bay. The Marowak somehow could block Cypress's sword with its bone rod, and it continued the fight with a master swordsman's skill.

Dianthia's Pokémon were about to breach the incredibly hard rock and get her out, and Gold and Crystal managed to extinguish a third flame. Cypress saw them working on the fourth when he decided to cause a distraction. Jumping back from the Marowaks swings, Cypress pointed at Y and shot a single bolt of energy. Y flew back out of the cave, and X and Steven had to disengage from fighting to run over to her. Cypress called his battered Pokémon over to continue the fight against the Pokedex Holders.

Cypress was gaining some ground with his dark magic influencing his Pokémon to fight madly, but he only just noticed Dianthia, having escaped the trap, have her Gardevoir blast the fourth flame away with a burst of psychic energy. Cypress howled, but he also saw that the rock was almost completely burnt away. Only another minute, and it would all be over.

Cypress continued to fight and blast at anything that came near the last flame. Y had recovered, and the other were now bearing down on the last flame as well. Cypress threw a powerful ring of fire at Y and Steven, trapping them behind a shield. X and Dianthia tried to stun Cypress with a powerful Mega Evolution duad, but Cypress slashed through the energy with a mighty burst of force.

Gold sent Exbo to incinerate Cypress, and while he was fighting of the Typhlosion, he saw Crystal running around to his blind side, intent on stopping the last flame. The rock was almost a mote now, and Crystal had her Monlee launch a extended kick to stop the burning, but Cypress abandoned caution and pummeled into the Pokémon before the kick could make contact. The rock finally disappeared with a hiss.

Everyone looked in horror at the remains of the blasted cave floor. Cypress slammed his fist against the ground in laughter, his injuries healing. "HAHAHAHA! FOOLS! HE HAS COME! I present to you, The Prince of Destruction, The Lord of Decay, Oblivianare, YVELTAL!"

The cave roof dissolved, and there was the great Lord Yveltal. Its red and black wings ablaze with life force, eyes gleaming, emerged from its cocoon, Yvetal peered down with disdain at the humans in its view. Everyone could feel a sudden rush of evil, concentrated on Cypress, who seemed stronger then ever.

Cypress conjured a shield of fire around him, and began to speak to Yveltal. But it seemed that Cypress was no longer the one talking, rather, some other thing was speaking through him.

"Servant, I have come at last. Join your leader as you once did, and drink the life of kings, princes, great, small, bond, free, men, woman, children. You shall have your fill, and you have but to join me."

Yvetal spoke into everyone's minds. "Master, why have you come in such a frail form? Surely you do not believe that after the rebellion you should plead to me, your servant, disowned for eons? Let me have none of you! Your offer is reserved for my last breath, and to deceive your old commander with such a promise is a detestable thing indeed, Lawless One. I no longer answer to you. The Lord of Light and Master of Order will not allow my presence here go unbated, regardless of your lies. May the One rebuke you! When I was weary, you provided no rest. When I was in prison, you did not visit me. When I was sick or hungry or thirsty, you did not care for me. Fallen am I, and is to spend the long days of penance imprisoned as a herald of death not my just sentence? Leave, and do not disturb my rest again."

Cypress glared, and was about to blast Yveltal with lightning, but the great bird acted first. Energy sprouted from it's wings in rivulets, sucking Cypress's very essence into its wings. The power and void of the Lord of Decay was truly as great as X remembered.

The shriveled shell of Cypress somehow reanimated, healing rapidly. The Obsida Nura Poke Ball was still attached to the Eclipse Lord's belt, and he was about to capture Yvetal when a massive shake threw everyone to their knees. Yveltal turned to view the sourced of the earthquake.

Xerneas and Zygarde, Lords of Light and Order, had both emerged from the earth. Yveltal circled around it's old nemesis, while Zygarde watched the two, ready to intervene in the conflict. Xerneas and Zygarde then looked at Cypress, giving him what could only be described as a judgmental glare.

The shield around Cypress dissipated, and he drew the Obsida Nura ball back, ready to finally capture the beast. However, a sudden shot from behind launched a billiard cue at the ball, crushing it into hundreds of pieces.

Cypress screamed in rage, and turned to see that Gold had been aiming up for the shot, aided by Dianthias Gardevior. As he was about to launch a flaming beam from the sky at the two, Xerneas and Yveltal stopped sizing each other up and turned to face Cypress. Xerneas spoke to everyone as Yveltal did.

"Rejecting you has empowered my long rival and contender to unite with me to defeat you, Evil One. As my nature is to give life, Oblivianare takes it away. But you do neither. You destroy the body and the soul, and twist the things of the earth to your will. I set myself against you, as my brother has. You shall find no ally in the forces of aura and order. BEGONE!"

Xerneas and Yveltal combined their auras into a wave, with Zygarde stabilizing it. The wave washed over Cypress, who writhed and spit in agony. A hole opened up below the puppet, and he fell into the fiery depths of the earth. Cypress was banished.

"He will return. Already, he is clawing his way out of the grave to his throne." Yveltal said. "Yes," Xerneas said. "His power has not been diminished enough to destroy him. Only the One could do such a thing. He will return the next Thursday, when his power is strongest. But he shall find no safety in us. Zygarde seemed to agree.

Yveltal and Xerneas, with the assistance of Zygarde, transformed into a coccon and a white tree, and decended into the depths of the earth with the Master of Order. It was over.

They would have to tell the others of this. A victory had been won, and that was a cause for celebration. The danger had been contained, at least for now. Healing their Pokémon, the six left the ruined cavern.
