Tess woke up to the noise of the flagship tearing itself apart, wreckage falling into the depths.
Someone grabbed her, saying that it was time to move. "Tess! Tess! The energy field is going away, this is our chance!" Tess saw that it was Crystal, and jumped onto her refreshed Salamance, while Crystal flew down on her Xatu.
Tess saw many other Pokedex Holders, no, all the Pokedex Holders charging in, along with a few others making the first wave. She could also see Bronze going in as well, a distorted speck in the distance.
Once Bronze and the others had arrived, Xerosic activated the energy shield once again. The other approaching trainers had to suddenly swerve to miss the crackling field.
X had his Kangaskhan grabbed the former Team Flare scientist by the neck. "What did you just do?! Deactivate that shield at once!" Xerosic laughed mid is struggles. "You can't! Even if you destroy the shield projector, the accumulated energy will implode, killing us all! Even a digital Pokémon like Porygon couldn't stop the flow!"
X had Xerosic knocked unconscious, and Blue examined the technology. "He's right. I have never seen anything this advanced. Cypress certainly had a major use for it before now, judging by its high quality, and I say we leave it and hope it runs out of fuel soon."
"So," Looker said, "Our best chance of stopping Cypress is making it to the internal chamber of the ruins. Chances are, he didn't plan on the gunship being destroyed, and may not be fully ready for the last bit of his plan."
Most everyone started into the ruins, looking for clues at what was going on.
"Fascinating..." Platinum said, looking at the bas reliefs and portions of text. "Since we are in the Distortion World, you would expect this place to have a strong influence from Sinnoh in terms of its writing and architecture, but it seems to be Old Rorian text, and scenes depicting a great battle in the distant past, with a entity called the...Evil Djinn."
"Looks like it had made another appearance," Tess said. "Up until recently, it was imprisoned within a bottle. It walking free is our main concern here, I think. Platinum, can you read any of the other glyphs?"
Platinum took out her Pokedex. "I'll try...I think the translator function on the Pokedex should be able to give me a simplified view of what it says...alright, for this panel it says this:"
"In the elder days, we went to war against that great dragon, the deceiver of old, cast out of the Timeless Halls for its tremendous ego. Those were the last times in which such a being walked in the flesh upon earth, may it never again. We took bottle that was exceedingly well-crafted, and bound the Djinn in its cage with the aid of the Princes of Time and Space, for they were mightier in those days. Even though the Enemy was bound, the seed of evil that he planted in the hearts of men shall never die, until the world is mended. That's all for that one, the next one here reads:"
"I have stumbled upon this place, and remember it to be the stronghold of the Enemy of old. It is fading to some other world, which I take to be a mercy. The malice emanating from this place is far to strong to bear. As a man of learning, I have etched a message here, along with the tale of my forefathers struggle against the Enemy. I have discovered a curious bronze gateway, and was able to cut away a piece of it to present to the master. I swear I hear drums beating behind those doors. Again, that's all it says here."
Platinum looked around, and saw that a faded collection of glyphs were a bit away from the second message. "This is the same writer, and this one was written after the second message. Its in very poor condition, but I can read it somewhat, here is a rough translation..."
I have seen (It?/Him?) and it can roam around the (Gate?/Key?) as it wishes. It is a (Focus?/Puppet?) of the Enemy, but does not (Have?/Share?) its guilt. This place (Fades?/Emerges?) nearly every (Day?/Year?) and is my greatest (Torment?/Obsession?) If the Enemy ever (Escaped?/Released?) it would create (unintelligible.) I have found the armor (Eternity?/Infinity?) and the sword (Immediate?/Instant?) and have put them in the (Tomb?/Chamber?) I will (Leave?/Die?) soon, and rest in (unintelligible.) And that's it, at least what I can see."
"How right you are!" A shadow stood in the bend in the hall, although everyone could tell that it was smiling.
"Hey..." Gold said, "You're Cypress! After him!" Cypress took off, running faster than anyone else, laughter echoing of the carven halls.
At the end of the hall was a massive antechamber, with two stonework doors resting closed, although they gave of the impression that they could open at anytime. Jake was with a few other grunts near a control panel that had cables linked up to a bronze portal frame, one which was glimmering softly.
Cypress stood in front of the doors, gesturing grandly. Sapphire had her Blaziken jump on him, intending to kill.
The demon stepped aside, and threw Chic to the wall. "Really? I myself do not think I could stand against your combined might, but I am sure you will not risk the well-being of innocents...look!"
Petrel stepped out of the darkness with his Golbat, whose wings were at the throats of two figures.
"Mom! Dad!" Bronze yelled, rushing forward. Cypress psychically pushed him back, pinning Bronze to the ground. "Unacceptable! But now you know that the consequences for being disobedient are quite grave...your one to know, aren't you Bronze? Now...I require your Brick."
Bronze had noticed that his Brick was growing quite hot, and vibrating as well. Without any idea of what Cypress would do to it, Bronze handed it over. There was no way to bargain with him when the lives of his parents were at risk.
There was a feel of evil in the air as Cypress caressed the Brick, laughing in triumph. The temperature was rising, and the portal frame was humming louder and louder.
Not making any move, Cypress kept laughing. "Very, very good! I finally have it! You can't do anything, I suppose, so what harm could there be in giving you all a little history lesson? Please do not speak while the teacher is talking."
"A rather long time ago, the most powerful being in the universe was fruitlessly contained by the Rorians of old. Of course, its mind and influence eventually escaped the prison, and continued to work its will. Have you ever wondered why the past 20 years have been full of evil organizations trying to alter nature or the world in some way, or even create a new universe, as Team Galactic attempted? All this, accomplished only by a sliver escaping from a weakened cage!"
"But I digress. After the pointless imprisoning of the Evil Djinn, the kingdoms of Hisui and Logaria flourished. One such man from Logaria had travelled to the northern isles, and discovered a curious place on the island you now call Crescent Island. Although it was actually in the land of Beulah, and the full tale is told in the Legends of Arceus. Actually, I am not entirely sure that the 'explorer' was even a adult. It may have even been Rei, and may have taken place both before and after the imprisonment of my lord, the Enemy."
"He made some interesting observations, and discovered that a entity known as 'Hoopa' frequented the ruins to and fro from the world to the doors that you see today. I am sure you know all about Hoopa and its incredible power, my dear Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. Despite your sentiment about it, it was a spirit that was chosen by the Evil Djinn to be a focus of its power, so that it may possess it and achieve new greatness. The entire area was a source of the Evil Djinn's power, and for that it was gradually banished to this nonsensical world of antimatter."
"This particular explorer may or may not have told of his discovery, as the wealth of knowledge of old Logaria is almost completely lost. In the end, he took only a small portion of the frame to study, which I now have in my possession. He also put two rather curious artifacts, a suit of armor and a sword, inside the tomb chamber of these ruins, which is not visible as of now. Of course, due to Team Galactic's experimentation, they were recovered, and put to rather extraordinary use...old Guile was so unimaginative..."
"Eventually, the ruins began to fall into the Distortion World, which the explorer did not know of. After they finally disappeared, the Brick that he had carved was passed down, stolen, lost, found, prized, disposed of, studied, abandoned, disregarded, stored, sold, bought, traded, and after long, strange eons, it found its way into the earth, where it was recovered by the two archeologists that my Commander is currently guarding."
"And I...now have obtained the final piece! Soon...so very soon, no one will be able to halt the new creation! I serve the only the Spirit-Force and myself! But with this...I will rule forever. Truly...seeing you all gathered here to oppose me...it warms my heart..."
"As if you had one!" Black yelled. "Why don't you quit monologuing and get whatever your going to do over with?"
Cypress raised his hand, but he seemed to be listening to a voice. "Very well...I will perform the act. Now, step aside!"
The Eclipse Lord inserted the Brick into the small gap. It shrunk just by a centimeter, and clicked into place.
Nothing happened. No grand new world suddenly sparked into being, no death of the enemies of Cypress. There was a quiet murmur thought the room, as if invisible creatures were talking in some language that was imperceivable to human ears.
The triumphant lord held out his hand to the doorway, and the indomitable gates slowly swung open.
Only darkness remained on the other side. Not a single noise came from the other side. And then...
A small creature flitted out of the dark gateway, obviously confused. It had two arms that were not connected to its body, a rather mischievous face, and a swath of purple hair. It saw Cypress, and immediately flew back into the darkness.
The Eclipse Lord was not deterred in the slightest. Rather, he started heaving as if expelling a foreign object from his stomach. Dark violet smoke poured out of Cypress's mouth and nose, drifting about the wasted man.
Once all the smoke was expelled, it floated into the dark, leaving Cypress as a quivering, corpse-like thing that Tess had seen earlier.
A crash came from outside, and then two victorious roars. Kyurem had finally been defeated, although this was the least of the people in the chamber's worries.
Then it came. A feeling of evil so great and all-present that it was a tangible object, chocking and drowning all hope. Something was growing in the dark place beyond the gates.
The being finally emerged. It was like Hoopa, but so much worse, impossibly worse. It now had six disconnected arms, and was nearly as large as the gateway. It bore a slanted face of sharp fangs with gleaming red eyes. When it spoke, it was much like the being that Tess had witnessed earlier, but far less ethereal and far more present in its evil.
"AHHHHH...FINALLY! POWER! POWER COURSING THROUGH THIS BODY! NO ONE MAY ASSAIL ME! I AM UNDEAFEATABLE, IMMORTAL, ALL-POWERFUL!"
Cypress was giggling, drool running down his face. "Oh, sweet master, precious master, the time is here, oh yes! I have made it ready, yes! Grant it, oh mighty one! Grant my most enduring wish, my king, my lord, my god!"
Hoopa, or the Unbound version of Hoopa, stared at the portal and Cypress. "OF COURSE...I WILL GRANT YOUR WISH, DEAR PUPPET OF MINE. NOW, MAY THE NEW CREATION...BEGIN!"
Hoopa waved its arms, and the portal glowed ever brighter.
