The Revelation

It has been a few days since Korra had joined the Wolfbats and things had been a little easier for her since then. Korra arrived at the Pro-Bending arena at 9:00 AM, where Tahno, Ming and Shaozu, who was still in a wheelchair, met her at the entrance.

While they were changing into their Pro-Bending gear, Korra asked Tahno. "What's the big idea with making me go and train early in the morning? The morning is evil." She finished with a moaning sigh.

Tahno nodded as they walked together to the gym. "I know it is, Korra. But since you're basically a rookie of the Wolfbats, I figured it would be best if we pick an early time slot to train early in the morning in order to get you up to speed."

Although Korra wasn't in the mood for training early in the morning, she figured that Tahno had a point. "Fine. But I won't hold back just because I'm new to the team."

"I figured you wouldn't." Tahno said with a smile to her, which made Korra hide her blush.

Changing the subject, Korra asked Shaozu. "Shouldn't you be home and resting? After all, you broke your leg pretty badly."

That made Shaozu only to chuckle as he stated. "Just because my leg got broken in 3 places and made me be in a wheelchair for more than a month, doesn't mean I'm gonna at least do some training to keep my bending up."

Ming felt proud of their friend. "Glad to see you still haven't lost your spirit." Before looking at Korra. "So, Korra, how was it after the party?"

"Well, hangovers are a real bitch, but Tahno gave me 2 aspirin pills for that. Of course I had to lie to Tenzin about why I was so tired. Told him I was exhausted after getting back, while leaving out the part about me having my 1st couple of beers." Korra answered honestly.

"So, does that mean you're gonna stop drinking?" Shaozu asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh fuck no, Shaozu. Those beers were the beginning of a new chapter in my rebel life, and I'm not gonna stop because of 1 lousy hangover." Korra answered with determination. "Tell you guys what: let's say when we win the match before the Semi-finals, which I know we will, we all go to a bar and drink our asses off?"

"Now that's a good idea, Korra." Tahno said with a smile while standing close to Korra.

Just as they walked inside the gym, the Wolfbats saw that another team was training. All three of them, Mako, his brother Bolin and Hasook stopped practicing when Tahno and the rest of the Wolfbats entered. "Well, well, well. If it isn't the Wolfbats." One of them named Hasook said while rolling his eyes.

Tahno sarcastically responded in a cold way. "Good to see you too, Hasook." Clearly the two were not on good terms.

Mako walked over to the Wolfbats, asking. "What are you guys doing here so early?"

Tahno raised his hand. "Easy, Mako. We're just here to train a bit early, that's all. We've got to warm up our new team member over here." He said while mentioning Korra.

Mako glanced at Korra, forming a small smile as he saw her, while she looked away "Ah yes, the Avatar. You must be very lucky to have her after what happened to your firebender?" Mako asked Tahno, stating Shaozu who now had a broken leg.

"You bet we are." Tahno said.

Then, Bolin ran over to them, not believing he was meeting the Avatar face to face "Oh my gosh! The Avatar! The... Avatar! Right here! Can you believe it, bro?" he asked his brother before he introduced himself to Korra. "I'm Bolin, Mako's brother! I'm... really honored to meet you." He said as he offered his hand to her.

Korra smiled at Bolin and shook his hand. "Glad to meet you, Bolin." Then she remembered his and his brother and teammates names from hearing their match on the radio a few nights ago. "Oh, then you must be the Fire Ferrets? That was a really exciting match I heard you guys played last time. It must be really exciting for you all to make it to the tournament."

Bolin nodded. "It sure is! Thank you, Avatar Korra."

Just as Mako was about to say something, Hasook marched over to Tahno, saying. "I don't know what your big deal here is, Tahno, but we got the early time slot before you."

Tahno frowned at him before checking the time. "Hmmm. You're right. You guys still have 15 minutes left. Guess we've arrived too early. It's only natural as we hadn't had the early time slot for a long time."

"Yeah, I'm wondering why." Hasook said in a hostile way. "Probably to kick us out so we wouldn't have time to train, right!?"

"Don't even try it, Hasook." Tahno warned him.

Mako moved in between them, preventing them from fighting each other. "Stop!" Before he then turned to Hasook. "Remember, if you start fighting, we'll be kicked out of the tournament."

Though Hasook was more eager to kick Tahno's ass, he walked away. "Fine."

Ming patted Tahno's shoulder. "Don't bother, Tahno. He's not worth it."

Korra looked with a bit of confusion, as she'd no idea what was going on between the guy she started to like and this waterbender named Hasook.

Just then, a fancy dressed man walked into the gym. "There are my little hardworking street urchins, and I see the Wolfbats are here too." As the man walked over to both teams, he smiled as he said to Korra "It's an honor to finally meet you, Avatar."

"And you are?" Korra asked the man.

He tipped his hat as he introduced himself. "Butakha. I run this whole Pro-bending shebang." Before he then took some money out of his pocket and handed it over to Tahno. "Ah yes, here's the Wolfbats' winnings from the last match."

Tahno put the money away as he stated. "Thanks, Butakha. But, you know you could've just written a check and sent it to the Wolfbats' special account?"

Butakha gave a shrug. "And miss the opportunity to meet the Avatar?"

Tahno understood as he walked over to a bench. "Let's leave the competition to finish their training before we begin ours." Ming and Shaozu agreed and went over to Tahno.

Just when Korra was about to join, she glanced at Mako who Butakha gave their share of winning money from their last winning match. "And here is your winnings from the last match, Mako." But as Mako was about to put the money in his pocket, Butakha took some of the money as they owed him some. "Ah, ah, ah. But not so fast. First, you owe me for your team members' new gear, gym and equipment rentals for last month." Now there was only half the money left, but Butakha wasn't finished yet. "Ah, ah. Rent on your apartment, and a personal loan for groceries."

With no money left from the winning, Mako glared at his brother, as he could've figured it was Bolin who bought more food for himself.

Bolin gave a shrug. "What? I'm a growing boy."

Then Butahka added. "Oh, and one more small item for business. The Fire Ferrets need to ante up 30000 Yuans for the championship pot."

This shocked Bolin. "30000 Yuans?!"

"Sorry, kids. You go to the end of the week to come up with the dough, or else you're out of the tournament."

Both brothers glanced at each other, thinking how to get the money. Hasook however was pessimistic. "Great! There goes our one shot at the tournament. How the hell are we supposed to get 30000 Yuans within a week?!"

Bolin had an idea as he raised his little pet Pabu. "Ooh, ooh, I got it, I got it! I've been training Pabu to do circus tricks. Now people would pay good money to see that."

Mako however disagreed. "No, Bolin. Hasook is right. We need serious ideas."

"I was serious." Bolin said with a bit of sadness as he looked down.

Tahno, then offered Mako. "Hey, listen, if you guys needs some cash, I'll-"

"We don't need your dirty money, you rich spoiled brat!" Hasook angrily at Tahno, not wanting his money.

That comment earned a glare from all the other Wolfbats, even Korra. Tahno frowned at Hasook as he walked back to his team. "Okay, sorry I offered!"

Mako then said as he took his training bag, as he clearly wasn't in the mood for training anymore. "Don't worry about it. I'll figure something out. I always do."

Bolin looked with some disappointment, but then determined that his idea would provide the money needed for the championship pot.

As Bolin left along with Hasook, the waterbender of the Fire Ferrets told Tahno while giving him the finger. "The gym is all yours, asshole."

"Go to hell, shithead." Tahno said coldly.

When they were alone, the Wolfbats began practicing for the tournament, with Korra sparring with Tahno and Ming while Shaozu was practicing Firebending with just his arms to keep in shape.

When they were done and got out of their gear, Korra wondered who Mako and Bolin we're and where they came from. "So, who are the Fire Ferrets? And why exactly are they struggling with financial problems for the tournament?"

Ming and Shaozu had been on friendly terms with the two brothers, so they decided to tell their backstory. "Well, Mako and Bolin were orphans out on the street and to survive, they worked for the Triple Triads for a few years."

"What?! You're saying they're criminals?"

"No, of course not. Bolin just did errands for them and Mako ran numbers. Mako did what he had to do to live on the streets and protect Bolin." Shaozu answered in their defense.

Korra understood that. "Oh. I guess it must've been hard for them." She said with sympathy before she asked. "Did they...ever tell you what happened to their parents?"

That's when Ming answered with his own sympathy for his 2 friends. "Well, they were mugged...by a Firebender. He cut them down right in front of Mako when he was 8 years old. So, Bolin is the only family he's got left, and as his big brother he'd do anything to protect him."

"I see." Korra said with understanding. "I don't mean to imply anything, but... how's their love lives?"

"Well, Bolin hasn't really had any luck with the ladies. And Mako, every time he gets into a relationship with a girl, he always sees another one while going through love triangles. He just can't make up his damn mind about who he wants." Tahno answered.

"Well, I'm sure Bolin will find someone someday. And Mako, despite my sympathy for his and Bolin's past, sounds like a fucking indecisive idiot in the relationship regard." Korra said, her rebellious nature showing.

"Well, fortunately, they haven't really been concentrating on finding girlfriends due their current financial problems, but we're hoping that at least Bolin finds the right girl 1 day." Ming said with hope for Bolin.

"Yeah. Him, I can see getting a nice girl. Mako, I'm not so sure about, given his indecisive track record." Shaozu added after his best friend.

"Hmmm...maybe after the tournament, you guys could help Bolin find a girl." Korra suggested.

"Yeah, maybe." Ming said with a smile.

"What about Hasook? What's his story?" Korra wondered about the 3rd member of the Fire Ferrets.

"That's...a story that Tahno will have to tell you about." Ming answered.

"But it's not a story he likes to tell or even think about. So I think you should hold off on that 1 for another time." Shaozu added with sympathy for his best friend's past with Hasook.

"I think you're right, guys. I've got Airbending practice in a few minutes anyway. Catch you guys later."

Later on

Bolin was showing his and Mako's pet ferret, Pabu, doing circus tricks to the crowd on the street, but only ended up getting just 1 Yuan. But then, a member of the Triple Triads named 'Shady' Shin walked up to him and told him that Lightning bolt Zolt was looking for extra muscle. Bolin was in doubt at 1st because of what his brother warned him about but quickly changed his mind after 'Shady' Shin gave him some serious cash.

Meanwhile

Tahno was in Butahka's office, where he wrote a check of 30000 Yuans on behalf of the Wolfbats for the championship pot. "Here you go. Our tribute to the championship pot."

As Tahno handed over the check to Butahka, the bald man smiled as he took it. "Thank you, Tahno. I sure hope your team will make it far in the tournament this season."

"With Korra on our team, you bet we will." Tahno stated, being sure they would make it far in the championship, or possibly even win the Pro-Bending tournament.

While Butahka finished the last bit of paperwork, Tahno glanced through the window, staring at Air Temple island, thinking about Korra. Tahno then formed a grin as he figured she wouldn't mind if he paid her a little visit.

A little while later at Air Temple Island

Korra was practicing at the obstacle course, with Jinora and Ikki using airending to make the doors swing fast. Being more in control, Korra moved swiftly through the obstacles, while Ikki said. "Good, light on your feet."

After Korra made it through the obstacles, she took a moment to catch her breath. 'Damn. It's so much easier when practicing for a Pro-Bending match. But at least it's getting easier to the point where I don't need to fuck up these things like last time.'

Both Jinora and Ikki then noticed someone approaching, seeing that he looked handsome, Ikki said. "Oh, he's cute."

Jinora then asked Korra. "Korra, is that the handsome waterbender boy that drives you crazy?"

Confused, Korra looked behind her, seeing it was Tahno, which shocked her as Ikki kept asking her about if she liked him a lot. "Does he drive you crazy in a bad way, or does he drive you crazy, like you like him?" She finished teasing her.

Not wanting Tahno to hear them, Korra quickly used earthbending and pushed both Ikki and Jinora away in the air, but both landed softly on the ground thanks to their airbending. Korra then turned to Tahno, while Ikki and Jinora giggled as Korra cleared her throat, trying as hard as she could not to blush. "Oh, hey, Tahno."

Thano smiled at her. "Hey Korra. Nice to see you."

Korra moved some hair behind her ear while forming a small smile. "Yeah... nice to see you too." Before she then wondered. "You... just came here to say hi?"

"Well, actually, I came here to ask you something."

"Which is?" Korra asked as she moved closer to him.

"Would you...?" Tahno was lost for words for a moment, till he asked her. "Would like to... I don't know... go for a walk through the city, or something?"

Korra blinked her eyes for a moment. "Uhm... sure! I'd... love to. I'm done with airbending practice anyway."

"Great." Tahno said.

Just as they were about to go together, Jinora teased Korra by saying. "Korra likes Tahno."

Feeling awkward about it, Korra groaned at the two girls and said under her breath "Shut up." Making the 2 girls giggle.

Tahno however had heard what Jinora and Ikki were saying, which made him clear his throat but then he smiled. When they got off the island and began walking through the city streets, he looked at Korra and slowly took her hand, interlocking their fingers together, making Korra smile with a blush and making him blush too.

As the two walked into a park, Tahno and Korra both saw a few street performers using firebending, which amazed the small audience. Tahno and Korra took a look at it and thought it looked amazing. After they were finished, the people clapped and tossed some coins for their excellent performance, which made the performers bow.

Tahno tossed a few coins for them as well, while Korra said. "It's good that at least some people don't see bending as something evil."

Tahno nodded. "You bet." Before he wanted to show Korra something. "Hey, I want to show you something. If you like?" he offered his hand.

Korra blushed for a moment before she smiled and took Tahno's hand. Korra felt like she had butterflies in her tummy from just holding Tahno's hand, which made her nearly crazy in her mind. 'Oh spirits oh spirits oh spirits! I can't believe I'm actually holding hands with him!'

Both walked hand in hand through the park till they were at the center, which had a big blossom tree. Korra watched the tree as she said. "Wow. I've never seen a blossom tree before."

Tahno nodded as he smiled. "You should see it when it's spring, then it's magnificent." Tahno sighed as he stated while they sat on a bench nearby. "I used to come here with my parents when I was a kid, together with... Hasook." Tahno finished with a bit of a sad look.

Wondering what bothered him about Hasook, Korra asked him. "With Hasook? I thought you two hated each other's guts?"

Tahno gave a shrug. "We do, but... that wasn't always the case. Back in the day... when we were young... we were actually best friends. Though we came from different social classes, me and my family being wealthy and him and his family being poor, but the both of us didn't care and felt we were meant to be best friends forever."

Korra then asked Tahno softly. "What happened between you two that made you go from being BFF's to... enemies?"

Tahno sighed as he began his story. "Well, when we grew up, our social status began to frustrate Hasook as he and his family were struggling financially while we were living the good life. Sometimes I even offered his parents some money so they can at least live better. But anytime when my parents offered Hasook's family some money, Hasook's father always turned it down, as he said that he didn't need money to make his family happy. The last time when he turned our offer down was 2 years ago, and at that moment, Hasook just... lost his temper and yelled at his father like never before how they've been struggling for years and now that my parents wanted to help, he turned them down again. Hasook then walked out furiously and..."

"And then what?"

"When I was trying to look for him, I suddenly spotted Hasook... doing some business with the Triads. I was shocked that my own best friend would lower himself to turn criminal. When I confronted him, he just shoved me off and told me to go away and mind my own business. I tried to tell him he needed to stop, but he wouldn't listen, as he'd listened to his father's goodwill bullshit for too long and wanted to live a normal life. That was for me the breaking point, as life in the Triads is not a life at all. That argument turned into a fight, but... then the police arrived and arrested both me and Hasook while he was in possession of drugs. While I was interrogated, I tried to tell the police that I didn't know about Hasook being with narcotics and that me and him just had a fight over something stupid. The cops didn't believe me at first, but after my father had a talk with the Beifong, I was released. I first wanted to ask my father to try and release Hasook too, but Hasook... who was dragged into a cell, yelled at me as he didn't want my father's money to get him bailed out. At that moment... I knew that whatever we had left of our friendship... was done. So... I left him to rot in prison. He was eventually released after a year in jail, but me and Hasook were no longer friends."

Korra was surprised after hearing Tahno's tale of him and Hasook being best friends, but that had ended after Hasook became a criminal. "Geez, Tahno. That's horrible."

Tahno shrugged. "I know it sucks. But... Hasook made his choice and I made mine."

Korra formed a small smile as she shoved a bit closer to him. "Honestly, I'm glad that you didn't turn out like him."

Tahno smiled back at her. "Thanks. And... I'm glad that I didn't... cause then I maybe wouldn't have met you." Both just glanced into each other's eyes for a moment, till Tahno softly said. "You're nothing like any woman I've ever met, Korra..."

Korra formed a sweet smile. "Thank you... and you're... amazing Tahno."

Slowly, their faces moved closer to each other. Both closed their eyes as their lips were only inches away from each other...but then they were interrupted by someone who cleared his throat and Korra and Tahno looked and saw it was Mako.

Though Korra was a bit annoyed that Mako interrupted their moment, she asked him. "Mako? What are you doing here?"

"Have any of you seen Bolin?"

Tahno shook his head. "No, not since this morning. Think something's wrong?"

Mako shook his head. "I don't know. Bolin has a knack for getting into stupid situations." He stated to Korra. Before he then turned, leaving to find his brother "See you guys later."

Korra then stood up and asked Mako. "Wait. Me and Tahno could help you look for him."

Mako however turned it down at first. "Nah, I got it."

That was when Tahno offered Mako "Hey, Fire ferret, just let me and Korra help you." Before he then suggested to Korra. "We could take Naga to find Bolin, right?"

Korra thought it was a good idea and nodded, while Mako asked with confusion. "Who's Naga?"

"My most loyal friend from my kid years and a very good tracker." Korra answered. "No offense, Tahno."

"None taken, I understand." Tahno said, not offended.

Later at night

Naga was tracking Bolin through the streets, with Korra and Tahno and on her back. "Your best friend is a Polor bear dog." Mako asked with a raised eyebrow, as he preferred to walk.

"I was just as surprised when I saw Naga too, but I think she's perfect for Korra." Tahno said with a smile.

"I'll take that as a compliment, pretty boy." Korra said with flattery.

They then got to the place where Mako knew an informant and spotted him. "You guys seen my brother out here today?"

"Perhaps." A teenaged boy answered while walking up to them. "My memory is a little foggy. Maybe you could help clear it up." He said while holding out his left hand.

Mako took out some cash, but Tahno stepped in while taking out more than a handful of money. "Don't do that, Mako, let me do it. You and your brother have already lost enough money as it is, and if you keep this up, you're both gonna be completely broke." He said before handing the boy the cash. "Now, have you seen Bolin?"

The boy put the cash in his pocket before answering. "I saw him here at noon today. He was teaching his pet ferret circus tricks until 'Shady' Shin showed up and flashed some serious cash and Bo took off with him in his hot rod. The Triple Triads and all the other factions are muscling up for something really big." He then ran as he said. "But that's all you're getting out of me!"

"What's he talking about?" Korra asked.

"Sounds like there's a turf war brewing. And Bolin's about to get caught in the middle of it." Mako answered.

"Or... it's something else. Something way bigger than just a turf war." Tahno said with worry.

They got back on Naga before Korra's animal companion began running. "So where are we headed?"

"Triple Triads headquarters. Hopefully Bolin's there and nothing's gone down yet." Mako answered.

"Those jerk offs? I kicked some of those guys' asses when I 1st got here." Korra said with a bit of pride.

But that was when a small creature ran past them, making Naga chase it until it ran on a light pole, making them recognize it. "Hey, Mako, isn't that Pabu? Yours and Bolin's pet ferret?" Tahno asked.

"Yeah, it is." Mako answered. "Come here, boy."

When Naga tried getting close to Pabu, Korra stopped her. "No, Naga, Pabu's a friend, not a snack." And when Pabu touched Naga's nose with his for a second, he went on Mako's shoulder.

They got to the Triads headquarters and Mako noticed that something was wrong. "Strange. There's usually thugs posted here. We gotta be careful." He said before walking to the door quietly and signaled Korra and Tahno to follow.

"Did you bring water, Tahno, just in case?" Korra asked her team leader and friend.

"Yeah. With the gang activity and Amon and his Equalists running around, it pays to be prepared." Tahno answered while showing a patch of water.

"Smart thinking." Korra said before she walked up to the door and broke it down.

"Bolin! Bolin, you here?" Mako called out, hoping his brother was here.

But then, they heard something outside, making them rush out of the back door in time to see Bolin and Shin, both bound and gagged in a truck before it and its motorcycle guards took off while throwing green smoke bombs.

"Naga, come!" Korra called out, making her animal companion do just that before all 3 got on her as she gave chase. Tahno and Mako tried to use their Waterbending and Firebending to slow them down but they avoided them both. Korra even tried Earthbending but the back rider expertly righted himself before getting into an open area.

3 of the bikers then threw book ropes at Naga, with 1 of them hitting her feet and causing her to trip, throwing all 3 benders off before they hit the ground. The 3 masked men then engaged them in a fight, showing great acrobatic skills as Korra tried Firebending, only for her opponent to hit her fast in certain spots and when she tried hitting, it only gave him more openings to hit her. Tahno tried fighting with his Waterbending, and Mako with his Firebending, only to get the exact same results. But when they were down and the masked men tried attacking attacking again, Naga got herself free and charged at them with a roar, making the masked men retreat by jumping up and using their green smoke bombs for cover.

Korra slowly got up as Tahno helped her. "Don't bother trying to bend, Korra. Those assholes were chi blockers, so we won't be able to bend for a few hours."

"Shit! I'm gonna fucking kill those jerk offs when I see them again!" Korra cursed with anger.

"More than that, they were Amon's henchmen." Mako informed them. "And whatever they want with the Triple Triads, it can't be good."

"You know, Mako, you could've just accepted my offer for cash this morning. If you had, none of this would be happening right now." Tahno said with regret.

"Yeah, I know. But with Hasook, it would've ruined the team."

"Hey, fuck that asshole! I would have secretly given you the cash and you could have said that you'd found a sponsor for your team that I would have recommended for you guys. Which is actually true since I think I found someone who would more than likely have accepted. All you would've had to tell him is just say that I wasn't involved and you found a sponsor on your own."

Mako thought about that and it did make perfect sense to him. "That... actually does make sense, but it's too late now."

"Mako, listen, we'll get your brother back. I promise." Tahno assured him. "You and him are friends with Ming and Shaozu and you know they'd do the same for you guys."

Korra thought for a moment and got an idea. "And I know just how to find those assholes. Come on." She told them before getting on Naga and riding her all the way to the park square she encountered that protester. When they got there, Naga and Pabu got a drink of water while the 3 benders sat down.

"What are we doing here?" Mako asked.

"Well, when Korra 1st came here, me and her encountered a bending protester right in this area." Tahno answered. "And he's been preaching Amon's cause here in this exact same area. He'll be here."

"You sure he'll know where my brother is?" Mako asked with hope.

"It's the only lead we've got right now, so I guess we'll just have to trust it." Korra answered.

Later, while they were waiting, Korra was sitting close to Tahno while Mako sat a few feet from them. "So, Ming and Shaozu told me about yours and your brother's backstory."

"What'd they tell you?" Mako asked.

"Everything you told them, and I'm sorry." Korra said with sympathy.

"Thanks." Mako said with a smile.

And after an hour, Korra was resting her head on Tahno's shoulder as they fell asleep. But Mako was looking at Korra, while looking at Tahno with a glare. 'Why the hell would a girl like that want to be with him?' He thought before his eyes landed on Korra's breasts, slowly rising and falling to her breathing. 'Fuck, look at her tits. They're so...damn sexy.' Before shaking those thoughts out of his mind for now and getting a bit of sleep.

After a while, Korra and Tahno woke and when they saw how they were resting against each other, they both blushed as their lips were close to touching.

But then, Mako cleared his throat, making them separate in annoyance before they heard the protester's voice. "Equality now! We want equality now!"

"There's the little shitbag." Korra said while rolling her eyes. 'And there's no kids around. Good.'

"Amon calls for action! It's time to take back your city!" The protester said to the small crowd before gasping when he saw Korra. "It's you again! You can't silence me, Avatar!"

But Korra only snatched his megaphone away and crushed it. "Shut your fuckin' mouth and listen, jackoff: my friend got kidnapped by chi blockers. Where'd they take him?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about." He answered, obviously lying.

"Oh I think you do, you little shit." Korra said before Earthbending his podium up, spilling his flyers and knocking him off.

Mako caught 1 and read it. "Witness the revelation tonight at 9pm."

"What's this revelation?" Tahno asked the protester, who was picking up some of his flyers.

"Nothing that concerns the likes of you 3."

But Korra grabbed him by the throat and lifted him up as if he weighed nothing. "Oh you better believe it concerns us, you pathetic coward. Talk or I'll won't need my bending to fuck you up."
