When picturing the library, imagine the Beauty and the Beast library; large, ornate and beautiful. Also, because I'm not going to provide much information on the layout of the estate as originally planned, imagine the castle to be similar to Castle Howard.

One of the main reasons I focus so heavily on the library rather than the entire house is because the library will be the place they spend the most time in and because I love books.

I realize that Charles would never say these things to Robert, or any member of the family, however, I like to think Elsie would have softened him up a little and it's just a story - humor me.

Now, on with the story.

The Crawley family stood in the large library of Eland, astonishment on their faces, as they took in the room that was twice as large as the library at Downton.

"This room is beautiful," Robert said, walking to one of the many bookshelves between the windows and pulling out a book. Everyone else nodded, walking around the large room.

"Well, I'm glad you like it. While you are here, feel free to borrow any books you like. Shall we sit for tea?" Elsie asked, walking over to one of the many sofas near the fireplace where tea was already set.

"How are things at Downton?" Charles asked, sitting next to his wife on the sofa nearest to the fireplace, sipping his tea.

"Very well. How are things here?" Mary asked. Elsie and Charles looked at each other.

"We're still in the process of figuring that out. My cousin, while a lovely man from what I've heard, was not much of a businessman and left the running of the place to the agent, who was not much better. From what I've gathered, the staff really ran everything and we're trying our best to take over the running of the estate while not disrupting the staff," Elsie said, sighing. Robert and Charles looked at each other, smiles on their faces. Charles leaned over to him.

"My wife is much too kind. She doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings while trying to take over the reins," Charles whispered, a loving smile on his face. Robert nodded, enjoying the change in Charles.

"I quite agree. If you need any help, do let me know. Although you've got Tom to help," Robert said. Charles nodded, looking back at his wife.

"How have the staff taken to the change?" Cora asked.

"They've been wonderful. I admit, it's been rather hard for us because we know what it's like for them and we don't want to give them too much work, but we also know that it's their job. However, we do keep things rather relaxed," Charles said. Everyone nodded, and the conversation split into multiple conversations.

I know it's a short chapter, but expect a longer one in the coming days. I hope you enjoyed!
