Just wanted to point out, I don't own the characters of this story. There may be one or two OCs, but that's about it. If you see anything in this that you think is from another fanfic, then it's by complete accident. Everything else belongs to J.K. Rowling (sadly). Also wanted to say that all reviews are welcome, but if you have a problem with something in the story try to keep it to something constructive so that maybe I can change/fix it. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the fanfic. Rating is just in case.

Stars of Avalon

Where there is darkness, there must also be light. Where there is light, there must also be darkness. But where there is so much darkness that light is swallowed…that is where a star is born.

Chapter 3 - Learning Time

Time was set and Harry knew he had a lot to learn, but before that, he had a tour to finish. To finish off the tour Tizzy showed him around the rest of the manor. It ended in a giant library. If Harry knew how big Hogwarts library is, then he could proudly say this one was bigger. There was still time before lunch, so he dived right into the many books on the shelves. He started on the basics of everything. What he mostly focused on was wizarding history, etiquette, and laws. The best way to hide was to know your way around who you're hiding from. A few hours in he got interrupted by a slight pop signaling that Tizzy was bringing him lunch. He continued reading while eating. This continued with dinner, as well, and this would continue being his schedule for the next year. There were hundreds of books on just history, etiquette, and laws alone. Even after a few days of reading it didn't seem to have made a dent, but Harry had time, so he kept reading.

After about a week of reading, Harry was starting to get tired of only reading three specific subjects, so he widened his focus. While he was walking through one of the many isles he found a section called mind magics. The first book he found was about what the mind magics were at the basics. They were something that intrigued him, so he read as many of these books as he could and started to put the lessons into practice. Until he went against another mind magics user he wouldn't know how well he was doing, but that could be found out later. What he wanted most was the memory boost it would give. And give, it did. After a month of studying he was able to instantly recall all that was put in front of him. This allowed him to only have to read a book once, so it greatly increased his learning abilities. Now that he had the boost of practically instant recall, Harry started devouring books left and right. He read books on any subject that he found interesting. That happened to be almost all of them. The only subject he couldn't seem to like was divination. The subject was just a bit too whimsical for his tastes. He learned and learned. It was a good thing the library didn't seem to have an end because, if there was, then Harry would have reached it. Sadly, he had no way of practicing the large amount of knowledge that he was learning. That is why we find him, six months after the beginning of his journey, looking for any way that he could practice what he was learning. Harry had finally gotten tired of only being able to read about the amazing feats of magic. Now, he wanted to see for himself the awe of magic.

It felt like he had searched the entire library for what he hoped was a solution to his problem. He had already read about wand lore and while intriguing, he couldn't currently get a wand because he couldn't leave unprotected, so he saved the idea of a wand for later. Right before he was going to call the search quits and just go back to studying, he saw something that caught his attention. There was a door that looked to lead to a cupboard, but it was almost hidden behind one of the shelves pushed against the wall. He hadn't been this far into the library before, so it didn't surprise him to see something new. He had seen many interesting books that he cataloged to go back and read while searching. Harry walked up to the door and tried twisting the handle. Keyword being "tried". It wouldn't budge. He had read enough to know that the door was warded to some extent, but hoped that an idea he had come up with while recently reading some warding books, worked. He had figured out how to reach his magic the moment he started meditations to build up his mind, so he used that connection to once again reach his magical core. With that done, he shoved his will at the door, hoping beyond hope for it to open. He was considerably surprised when it actually worked. With the curious door open, he stepped into the small space, feeling slightly at home in the small, dark space. In this cramped space was only one book, and while the book looked incredibly old, it still seemed to have all its pages and the cover was only slightly flaky. When Harry saw the name and author he froze for a moment. With shaky hands he grabbed the book that had the title of "Magical Truths by Emrys''. While Harry had only known about magic for half a year at this point, he has gathered a vast amount of untapped knowledge, some books are only held in this one library. The fact that he had a book written by Merlin himself shouldn't have surprised him, but it was a very nice surprise. He immediately rushed back over to his work area and once there, buried himself in the book. The book was full of magical theory that was thought up by Merlin himself. It was absolutely amazing and a treasure trove of knowledge for the sponge of a child that Harry was. This is the book that solved his problems in the end. It described in the book that while most people need a wand for magic because it takes less focus, one could become proficient in all types of magic wandlessly as long as the user was magically powerful enough, had the willpower needed to make magic possible, and had the intent needed for any specific spell to generate.

With this new and powerful knowledge, Harry spent the rest of that year working on growing his magic through hard work and a fun, not so little room for dueling he had been shown. By the end of the year he could fight levels one through three on the training dummy easily with only some difficulties on level three. He had yet to go any higher, but hoped that by the next year he could fight more than one level one dummies. When it came to wandless magic, it was straining at first due to not having all the aspects of it down, but the more he practiced and dueled the dummies, the better he got. It would be no surprise to anyone that later knew him that this was the defining moment for the Boy-Who-Lived. Because of this moment, he would become that of rumor. That of history. That of legend.
