Just wanted to point out, I don't own the characters of this story. There may be one or two OCs, but that's about it. If you see anything in this that you think is from another fanfic, then it's by complete accident. Everything else belongs to J.K. Rowling (sadly). Also wanted to say that all reviews are welcome, but if you have a problem with something in the story try to keep it to something constructive so that maybe I can change/fix it. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the fanfic. Rating is just in case.

Stars of Avalon

Where there is darkness, there must also be light. Where there is light, there must also be darkness. But where there is so much darkness that light is swallowed…that is where a star is born.

Chapter 6 - It All Comes Together

Odd things always seem to happen around magical beings. Harry just happened to have that oddness in a bit more abundance, but when, even after a year Baorus hadn't grown, it would seem that Harry wasn't the only odd one out there. In the library, there wasn't even an indication as to what species Baorus was. Harry just hoped that it wasn't some weird disease. Deciding to ignore it for now with the hope of it not being a big deal, Harry carried on as he normally would. The funny thing is that it truly was a Harry Potter level odd event that started this because it would seem he found a completely new species or at the very least a supposed extinct one. Not that he would know. He may have read a lot about everything, but compared to what he specifically studied, it didn't add up to much.

That's how things went for a while, five years would be a close estimate. Harry would study and keep to the schedule and when Wednesday library time came he would occasionally look for the species of his familiar. While he wasn't having any luck with that, he was having massive success at everything else he was doing. He didn't know how he managed it, but his mind magics seemed to level up overnight. He put it down to getting his familiar since it happened suspiciously close to when he gained the bond. Either way, he wasn't going to complain. This was the slight push that he needed because, slowly but surely, thought magic started to get easier and easier. Mind you, it's still difficult, but he can actually produce thought magic now. Definitely a step up in his mind.

His elemental training was also going well, but it seemed he had hit somewhat of a roadblock. He could stay in the Abyss for around twenty minutes, but it had yet to increase and because of that, the spying option of his power had yet to be given the time to shine. Yes, it had made great progress from where it was, able to now distinguish what someone was saying if they were speaking clearly, but for the effort he put in, he had perhaps been hoping for something more. Not all was stagnant for his elemental training though. He could now effectively use shadow travel in duels. This was a huge help as it currently only took a split second for him to drop into any shadow that was near him. The smaller shadows were still slower than the larger ones, but that didn't bother him too much as he always had his own shadow to work with.

As with everything Harry did, one could call him a genius or perhaps a prodigy, but Harry himself would say that he mostly got where he was from hard work and a little luck. That was readily apparent in his duelling skills. Where he had once struggled and actually almost died from one level nine, he could now fight three of them without issue and he was working on a single level twelve, which was giving him problems. The max level of the training dummies went up to level twenty-five and level twenty was close to the level at which Dumbledore and Voldemort fought at. It was doubtful that Harry would reach level twenty by the end of his training, but knowing him, it was bound to be possible.

Something interesting that he found out recently though, would be a special ability of Baorus's. A little after three years together, Harry decided that he would let Baorus train with him, so as to get better at fighting together, he would rather be prepared than sorry. It ended up not being needed because it seemed that since they were bonded it was more like one entity fighting rather than two. Harry started them out at level five and they slowly worked their way up to level nine. It would seem that this level was some sort of lucky number for Harry because that's when it happened. The first deadly curse that left the wand of the dummy, so the first curse in the whole duel, was blocked by a giant figure that was towering or Harry. This large and decidedly furry figure charged the dummy and proceeded to rip it to shreds. All Harry could do was stare dumbfounded at his once tiny familiar as he ragdolled the dummy into the wall. [What in the world was that!] Harry couldn't help but be surprised. To be fair, who would expect their familiar that once only went up to the knee in height, to now be at least double their height. So it made perfect sense to be frozen in shock, not that it lasted long. Soon the questions started firing and Harry just had to know the answers, so he did what any person did when they had questions.

He didn't come out of the library for the next three days. While in there, he found many things, like last sightings of rare or otherwise dangerous animals, but he could find nothing about a species like Baorus. While it hadn't given him the answers he was looking for, Harry was still beyond curious. Every time there was a duelling session scheduled there would be a time for testing out the little guy's abilities. After a few weeks of study, Harry found that along with his size, Baorus's defensive abilities went up tremendously. It was as if he was a walking tank, taking curses left and right and hardly taking any damage, but that was only while he was larger. He was susceptible to curses just like almost everyone else while he was small. Harry wondered if he would get larger as time went on, but seeing that as a long term study, put it aside to look at every now and then.

With that, time went on. And on. And on. While one would think that it would be incredibly monotonous, Harry was having a blast. Learning new things, getting better at the things he already knows. Yes, for him life was currently heaven, but, as many know, all good things must come to an end. Time was getting closer, time was catching up. Sooner rather than later the time to himself would be gone and Harry would have to leave the confines of the manor to see the outside world. What he would see, he didn't know, but he hoped he liked it. So as time came near, Harry stood in front of the main doors with Baorus by his side, waiting for the ward to fall. Slowly, like it knew what was happening, the wards were dropped. Once he was certain they were completely down, Harry walked towards the door and threw it open. The blinding light of the sun broke through the door and with that he knew a new age was coming. One full of happiness for all and light that would stretch across the world, for a star had been born.
