-( Meeting the In-laws, I mean parents) -
The clock hit 3:15 and I sighed and put my head down.
"Braids, we're going now," Spikey called. I lifted my head and saw Uraraka open the door, expecting to see students walking down the hall, on the way out. Except, that wasn't exactly what was happening. There were students, yes, but instead of walking to and fro, each one was standing in front of us. No, not again. I'd rather go out the window, than wrestle my way through another hallway full of students. Though jumping out the window would be pretty cool. I wonder if I could actually do it…
"Uh, why the heck are you all here?" Uraraka asked, standing defensively and pointing at the students.
"Do you students have some sort of business with our class?" Iida asked. It was getting pretty unnerving to have all these people staring at us like this. Especially when most of these people were staring us down with calculating eyes, the rest held anger and resentment.
"Why are you blocking our doorway?" Mineta asked, "I won't let you hold us hostage." He began yelling and pumping his fist. Katsuki didn't stop or seem affected by the pooling of students by our door.
"They're scouting out the competition, idiots," he said, not looking back at said 'idiots'. "We're the class that survived a real villain attack."
Mineta gapped at his back, clearly not used to his constant jabs. Ok, so maybe I shouldn't be used to that, but Izuku just shook his head to ward off the purple boy's offense.
"Let's just hope he doesn't explode on anybody," Kuku said. I snorted and imagined Blasty-Boy doing just that.
"They wanna see us with their own eyes," Katsuki continued, going straight up to the students beyond the doorway. "At least now you know what a future pro looks like. Now move it, extras." I cackled at his words and heard Iida yelling at him.
"You can't walk around calling people "extras" just because you don't know who they are," Iida yelled at him, Kuku and Uraraka backing him up. I continued to laugh louder, though. Iida turned to me. "And you can't laugh! You'll only encourage him."
"I'm sorry." I cried, though it didn't sound very convincing through my short breath and smile. "It was funny." I stopped laughing with a sigh and looked back up. Heh… imagine seeing everyone as background characters to your own life… I couldn't tell if I was laughing at his ego or that it actually makes sense.
"So this is Class 1-A." A mysterious voice called from the crowd. "I heard you guys were impressive, but you just sound like an oaf. Is everyone in the hero course delusional, or just you?" The boy speaking started walking up, coming face to face with the angry boy in front of us. Sparky growled at the insult and I decided it might be good to intervene. "How sad to find a bunch of egomaniacs."
He was tall, his purple hair making him even taller with his violet eyes matching. "I wanted to be in the hero course, but like many others here I was forced to choose a different track. I didn't cut it the first time around, but I have another chance." He put his hand on his head and stared Katsuki down. "The teachers can decide to transfer us to the hero course. And they'll have to transfer people out to make room." I did not know that, and it seemed that the three people standing beside me didn't either.
"Scouting the competition?" he asked, repeating what Katsuki said before. His eyes shifted to us, those behind Katsuki. "Maybe some of my peers are, but I'm here to let you know that, if you don't bring your very best, I'll steal your spot right from under you. Consider this a declaration of war.''
We stood there for a second before I walked up, stepping in front of Katsuki, which really defined how big the height difference was between both boys and I.
"First of all," I said, smiling up at the purple-haired boy in front of us and holding up my pointer finger. "You're pretty cute." I couldn't believe that's how I'm starting this, but oh well. "And I'm absolutely in love with your hair, and even though I'm a little concerned about the dark circles under your eyes, you kinda pull it off." I held up a second finger. "Of course we're all a little delusional and egotistical. We have to be confident in our abilities and work outside of the box in order to save the lives of others, especially when we're risking ours. And lastly, if you are able to take our place in the hero course, then obviously you deserve it. This line of work takes effort and determination, so striving to be the best is what makes, and shapes us to be the heroes we are trying to be. Iron sharpens iron, as they say." I stopped my small rant and smiled again, tilting my head at the boy. "So thank you for the "declaration". We'll be sure to bring our best, as long as you'll bring yours."
Once again we all stood there quietly, waiting for the other to say something more.
"Hey, you!" A sharp voice cut through the short silence "I'm from Class 1-B next door from you!" The voice belonged to an angry-looking boy with grey hair and weird eyelashes. And to complement his aggression, he had super sharp teeth. "We heard you fought some villains, and I came to see if that was true. But you're just a bunch of brats who think you're better than us!" That's literally the opposite of what I was just trying to say. "Talk all you want. It'll just be more embarrassing when you're KO'd." Seriously, I-I'm done. Blasty seemed to have the same idea because he walked past me and into the now parting crowd.
I decided to follow after him, taking the parting of the crowd gratefully. Even being shoulder-to-shoulder right now was giving me slight anxiety. I stuffed that feeling down and looked at the blond spikes in front of me.
"Don't you ignore me!" the yelling boy said over the crowd, shaking his fists at him dramatically. I looked at him but turned when Kirishima called out to Sparky.
"Dude, where are you going?" he said, "You gotta say something. It's your fault they're all hating on us, Bakugo."
I looked around and noticed that the curious stares had turned more vicious. I mean, he's rude but I didn't think it was that mean…
"These people don't matter." Well, that's what I get for giving him the benefit of the doubt. "The only thing that's important is that I beat them." He practically growled out the last part and I stood there gobsmacked. I watched as he walked away and overheard Kirishima again.
"I hate that that was such a manly exit," he growled to himself. I kept listening as others joined in, even agreeing with him. I felt myself smile and started to walk again, trying to keep up with the boy stalking away.
"So, where are we going?" I asked, grabbing my backpack and skipping into step with him. He gave me a side-eye before refusing to answer. I sighed but let him lead me out of school.
"To a cafe, to work," he finally answered when we had gotten outside. I looked up at him a little surprised that he responded but smiled.
"So what's your backstory? Why do you wanna be a Hero?" I asked. The silence had been getting to me.
"I don't have a stupid sentimental back story," he told me, continuing to look ahead. "I'm gonna be the best and that's all there is to it. I'll become better than All Might, and better than that stupid Deku." And though his words were kinda harsh, his tone wasn't. Maybe that was how he always was; aggressive, even when relaxing.
"Mmm, cool," I said, not wanting to test him. "Though, I will have to ask you to refrain from calling Kuku stupid in my presence. He growled in protest but otherwise didn't act. I smiled at the ground at his cooperativeness and decided it might be cool to see how he acted outside of school. "How long have you known Kuku?"
"This isn't about that stu- nerd. Can't you talk about something other than him?" he asked. This time his voice sounded okay, though I wasn't offended at his rising volume; I was excited that he actually listened to me.
"Sorry, I just thought, since we shared a childhood friend, or whatever you two are, we could start there with common ground," I told him truthfully. "But I guess we could talk about… All Might?" I tried to think of a topic we might both like, but all I really knew about the boy standing next to me was his anger issue and his desire to be the best. And maybe the slight insecurity he had with my childhood best friend, but all three seemed like topics I should steer clear of.
"What about him?" he asked. Wow, I did not think this far ahead. I didn't think he would cooperate.
"Ummm, like, how he's actually really bad at teaching but really good at inspirational speeches. You'd think the two would go together, but the man can't even talk to us without the flashcard when we're in the classroom," I said, and though I was expecting him to yell at me, I'm not sure why, but I'm pretty certain that Blasty-Boy would have found a reason.
Except, instead of yelling, he cocked his head to the side in thought, before humming out a low sound of acknowledgment.
"All Might has to reassure the people he's saving, so he has to be able to comfort them," he said, and I listened intently, intrigued by the calm Katsuki. "All the years he's spent fighting must have made it so that it's muscle memory. Describing something that is like second nature is difficult."
I continued to stare at his calm features and felt drawn to the peaceful side of this usually angry boy.
"What are you staring at, Braids?" he yelled, facing me now, with harsh red eyes. I felt myself grow disappointed at his change in emotion.
"Sorry, I spaced out a little bit," I told him, this time actually being able to hold my tongue from the onslaught of compliments I was about to throw at the boy. "I think you're right though, at least about the reassuring people. I just think he's someone who can't teach, but can be inspiring…. Hey wait, do you know my name?"
"Eh," he breathed out. I rolled my eyes but expected that this was probably how he was. He didn't really seem like someone to remember names until he actually cared about who they were.
"It's Hiroko, Katsuki," I said, emphasizing his name.
"Hey, why does a stupid braided loser like you get to call me by my first name?" he demanded, his fiery temper beginning to heat up. I huffed out and ran ahead a little before turning around and facing him. He didn't stop his pace, forcing me to walk backward.
"Because I thought it would bother you," I told him. He growled and I saw his fingers begin to spark to life.
"Call me by my last name, dang it!" he screamed, and I felt a dangerous sense of courage bubble up from God knows where.
"Not unless you call me by name," I said, raising my eyebrows to taunt him. "My real name."
"Why don't I blow your head in, then we'll see what you'll be callin' me." he snarled, dangerously. And yet, the threats he had been spewing all week had seemed to stop frightening me at this moment, because I stopped walking backward and smiled cockily at him.
"Come on Katsuki. It would be easier just to say my name." I slowly felt my confidence draining with his increasing irritation, but I was already in too deep.
"You think I'm a coward who surrenders?" he demanded, and I felt my fire diminish. He must have noticed the shift because he paused for a moment, before grabbing my shirt and holding it in the air. "Why'd you stop? Ya think surrendering to me makes you the bigger man?" I looked at him and questioned how someone so…. So.. amazing could be so insecure.
"Bakugo, I just thought that you were right," I told him. "I'm just glad you're someone who won't go down without a fight, so…" It was weird, but, when he said that, I thought about how close I was to surrendering many times. Even in the USJ, I wanted to be selfish and leave All Might, I even left Mr. Aizawa to help Kuku… so in a way I admired him. Even when I was little I wanted to surrender; actually, I did surrender. I felt the fear bubbling up, remembering those days when I let the villains take me, but I pushed it down and looked deep into his red eyes. "I admire you for not surrendering, even in situations where it may not matter, that's really strong." Kind of stupid in minor situations, but strong nonetheless.
Good job on not saying that out loud.
I know right.
He dropped me and looked away, his cheeks actually getting red. I smirked for a second at my word's effects, but wiped it off when he turned back to look at me.
"Yeah yeah yeah, let's go." he said, pushing past me and back on his original path. I smiled again and walked quickly to catch up. When I reached him, I looked up, once again realizing our height difference.
We stopped a few minutes later, coming to a small looking cafe. I shrugged and gripped my backpack again. I didn't get another foot closer when Sparky started yelling angrily. I looked to him in exasperation, wondering what had made him upset.
"Stupid building, I outa blow it down!" he continued to yell.
"What's the matter?"
"It's closed."
"Then, let's go home." I said excitedly, hoping to get some sleep.
"Die," he seethed. I scrunched my face, but stayed silent, not trusting what I'd say if I didn't. He huffed and started walking in a different direction. "This way." He commended, and I rolled my eyes again. Once again we walked for a while, I felt myself getting really annoyed by the time it took, before I started to notice settings that felt really familiar.
"Hey, Katsuki," I called ahead, "Where are we?" I looked up and saw that he had his hands shoved into his pockets and was slouching, and he continued to look forward as he answered.
"We're near my house," he said. "Stop asking questions and just follow me." This was all a ploy wasn't it. To get me near his house so he could kill me- and I fell for it.
Lilly tried to warn you.
More like she was on board with it.
We've seen this street before, right?
I- i think so… but i can't actually remember where.
We kept walking until I saw a playground across the street, and I gasped as the realization hit me. This is where Kuku lived back then, and that was the playground near his house we would visit.
"You live near Kuku?" I asked, hopeful that I would get to see Mrs. Midoriya soon. He turned his head slightly and we made eye contact. He didn't say anything and nodded his head. I smiled greatly.
I will admit, that when he said we were near his house, I thought he meant we were going to a shop or an ice cream parlor near it, not his actual house. Though I'm not sure what I was thinking because I hadn't seen anything like that in a while. I'm also not sure what I expected his house to look like, but all I know it looked way nicer than anything I would have imagined.
"That Hag and my old man shouldn't be home. We'll study till we finish and then you turn in it on Monday." He said, turning into the walkway leading to the brown door. I kept gaping at the modern house, staring at the trees standing perfectly center and apart from each other. There were tons of windows, even the door had a window, what the heck, here i was thinking my parents were rich. Actually that's not fair, my grandma just refuses to get a new house, even if it's meant for one and not four.
"Wait, you think we can research, plan, write, and revise in a day?" I asked, shocked and dreading the amount of work we were about to do. We were nearing the door and I realized the other part of what he said… were we gonna be alone?
"I'm not letting Ponytail turn in her assignment before me." He said, "Wait. That hag's car is here." He didn't get much after that when the door swung, almost hitting him. Out came a woman with blond hair that stuck up in a familiar fashion, she honestly looked like the genderbender version of the angry boy in front of her.
"Kauski!" She yelled, Oh. and she yells like him too. "What took you so long?"
"Shut up you hag. Why are you home?!" He yelled back. I stood back and watched as the two continued to ignore me and argue.
"Don't you tell me to shut up Katsuki!" She angrily said back, hitting the back of his head. He started shaking and looked at her with the same level of irritation that her voice carried.
"Hit me again and I'll blast your face off."
"Oh you will not be taking that tone with me young man." She grabbed his head and put him in a headlock and I started to laugh. I'd been scared that their relationship was unhealthy, and though it may be, you could clearly see that this was how they loved each other. Albeit, angrily. They looked up to the sound of my small giggle and stopped, seeming to acknowledge my existence. "Katsuki, why didn't you tell me you were bringing a girl over?"
"Hi, I'm Hiroko Bushida, it's nice to meet you." I went to shake her hand but stopped myself short, remembering that shaking hands was more of an american introduction. I bowed awkwardly, looking at her shoes. I heard her laughter and I looked up to see her cackling. "I did that right, right? Cause i mean it's been a while but i think I- "
"No need to be so formal, I'm just glad you're not as arrogant as my son over there." She stopped her laughing, but smiled at me. I nervously smiled back and felt my cheeks burning a little.
"Don't associate me with you." Blasty said, walking into the door and brushing past his mother.
"You can call me Mitsuki, but never call me ma'am, I am not that old." She said, and grabbed me and pulled me into the house. If I thought the outside looked nice, the inside had me go for a loop. The walls were cobblestone with high ceilings, wooden floors, and sleek furniture.
"Your house is really nice Mrs. Bakugo." I said, letting her lead me to the kitchen. It was just as extravagant as everything else in the house. An island sat in the middle while two walls were lined with white cabinets.
"You're too kind." She said, waving her arm in false humility. "So what's a kind girl like you doing with my brat of a son?" She practically spat the last part, jokingly, and I smiled. She reminded me of my grandmother and her… heh… harsh sense of humor.
"We're doing an English assignment." I said. "If that's okay?" She looked at me, surprised, until her features melted back to a smile.
"Katsuki, why can't you be like Hiroko here, huh? She's respectful of authority." she turned to find him but he wasn't in the kitchen or anywhere else in sight. "Uhg, that idiot didn't even tell you where he was going, he's probably in his room." Once again I felt myself comparing the two. "It's upstairs to the left, go right on in, if he's not in there though, be sure to mess around, he'll hate that."
I nodded and looked towards the stairs, to where she was pointing, and began walking toward them. I ascended up the steps and found that pictures of their family were hanging on the wall. Photos of Katsuki, his mom, and a man with brown hair and glasses hung without order. I particularly like one that held a picture of a young, red eyed, blonde boy, showing off his explosions. He was actually smiling, looking at the person behind the camera. He couldn't have been older than 5, okay maybe 6, but he seemed proud of his Quirk, even back then he was arrogant.
I continued up the stairs and turned to the left, finding a room with a doorknob that looked particularly… blown up. I opened it and entered, but I should have knocked. He stood, arms halfway over his body, trying to put on a black shirt. I tried to look elsewhere, I really did, but with the training it takes to get into UA and what we've been going through this past week and a half, his muscles looked really defined, and his forming abs.
He finally seemed to notice me when his shirt fell over his body, and I will not admit sighing disappointedly. His eyes turned to slits and his face got red. "Get out" He yelled, and I nodded my head absentmindedly. Though, I didn't make much effort to move. He noticed and activated his Quirk, his hands sparking in his rage. My brain started to work again at the threat and I made it out just in time to hear a blast slam against the door.
"Katuski, don't be mean to the girl." His mother called from downstairs, though I could hear the laughter in her voice. I slouched against the wall and felt my face getting more warm, explicitly remembering each detail. I felt my chest getting lighter and I let out the girliest giggle I'd ever heard.
That was disgusting,
I did NOT mean to do that, and I plan to never do so EVER again.
Check out Blasty Boy or giggle like a girl?
Giggle like a girl
So you plan on…
Stop, stop that right now. Again with the hormones
I'm just your subconscious
Yeah, yeah I get it
"What!" the door slammed open and this time he was properly dressed. I jumped back at the sudden noise and hit my head on the wall.
"I wasn't thinking." I suddenly blurted out, ignoring the slight pain coming from my head.
"Of course you weren't thinking!" He yelled again, "An idiot like you never thinks."
"I think just fine, thank you!"
"You think you own this place?"
"Your mom said to "Go right on in." Who am I to disagree with your mother?"
"I'm gonna kill her."
"Well that's a bit harsh. I am sorry though, next time I'll knock"
"If it happens again I'll bash your head into concrete."
"Well dang." I said, backing up slightly. "At least your threats are more creative than your insults, we still need to work on that." He looked ready to scream at me again when Mrs. Bakugo came up the stairs, a clear smirk on her face. He shut his mouth but kept his glaring eyes on me. "Let's go," He seethed out and turned back into his room. I stepped inside as well, but sent a smile and a small glance over my shoulder to Mrs. Bakugo.
His room was surprisingly clean, with a shelf of books, and were those grenades? He had a bed to the side of the room and a dresser covered with papers. I quickly looked over the papers and saw costume designs, notes, and hero analisis. Oh My God, it was just like Kuku's notebook he was always mumbling about. This boy was just as nerdy as Kuku.
"Are you done looking around. We have an assignment to write." He called, I turned to see him sitting at a desk next to his bed. I breathed in and heard the door click behind me. Oh my God, again. I'm in a room with a boy. Alone. To do an assignment, please get your head out of the gutter and keep it out. Right, assignment, a long English project. A long and boring assignment, I hope this doesn't take too long.
3 hours. It took 3 hours and we hadn't even written out the entire thing yet. There was a reason we got a month for this project, but this perfectionist wanted it to be done before everyone else. The good thing though was that we were excellent arguers.
"Katsuki, we can't do this in one night."I wined, looking at my phone, it read 6:30. I yawned again for the 7th time. He didn't answer and continued to write his argument. I sighed and leaned my elbow against the desk and watched him work. His usually creased eyebrows were now more relaxed as he wrote. He stopped for a second as he bit down his pencil, concentrating. I felt that warm feeling bubble again, but I suppressed that down deep.
"Get to work."
"But-" I was saved from answering when the door swung open, a loud slam making me jerk. We both looked up, finding a familiar looking woman with her recurring smirk. Her smirk softened to a smile when she looked at me, and ignored her son's growles.
"You've been working for so long, why don't you come and eat dinner with us?" She asked me, I smiled wickedly before wiping it off my face.
"I would absolutely love to have dinner with you." I said, she must have seen my evil smile because she looked down at her angry son, who was yelling about how I shouldnt stay, and matched it. "If.. that's okay with you,Mrs. Bakugo"
"Of course WE would absolutely love that," She emphasized "we" and I knew it was to agraivate her son. "And I told you to call me Mitsuki." she said.
"Ok, Mitsuki."
"Don't act all chum with that old lady."
We both ignored him and I followed her down the stairs, looking at the hanging pictures. "You like these huh?" She asked, noticing that I was checking them out. I nodded my head and smiled. "He was arrogant, even back then." she pointed to the one i'd noticed earlier and smiled lovingly.
"He's arrogant, but he's really good." I answered, looking at the new pictures now, the ones that showed him closer to his age now.
"Does my Katsuki have an admirer?" She asked, her voice becoming suggestive. I turned red and pleaded with my brian to not blatantly flirt, just a nice denial would work. Oh please work.
"I think that he's very loud and stubborn on the most ridiculous things, but from what I've seen, he's the kind of guy who won't quit on what he wants until he gets it and dies trying. And I realize how much I admire that, because I want to be like that." I told her honestly. Okay, so that wasn't too bad.
"Wow, I didn't even think teenages thought like that." She said, giving me an awkward pat on the back. I looked up at the woman and she smiled again. "Katsuki, get your butt down here, you got to make dinner." I heard stomping as we descended down the stairs, assuming that it was the angry boy.
"Would you mind if I called my sister? I wanna let her know I'll be getting home a little later." I asked. She nodded her head and I took out my phone, dialing the familiar number. She waited till the last ring to answer. I overheard her saying sorry and rudely asking me,
"What?"
"What does chu mean 'what'? You should be thanking me that you got to listen to my voice, that I took time out of my day to call you."
"I'm going to hang up."
"Wait, I was gonna tell you that Mrs. Bakugo asked me to dinner, "Is that alright if I stay?" I asked, still slightly suspicious of what she was doing, especially since she would usually be worrying if I was out too much later.
"Who's Mrs. Bakugo, wait, is this Katuki's mother?" She asked, her voice rigging in suggestion. "Meeting the In-laws already?"
"Make no mistake Lilly, I will kill you. Or at least I'll steal all your hoodies and you'll never find them again."
"So you're going to reference me out of the conversation, I see, and I can retaliate. I'll take your goldfish and suckers, that I know you're hiding. "
"Touch either one and I'll bite your hand off, I know where you live!"
"Wierdo.." she whispered to herself, though I could here the laughter in her voice. "It's fine, I was actually gonna text you that I wouldn't be home for a while." She said, reverting the conversation back to the topic at hand. I listened closely as I heard a man speak, I instantly rook the phone off my ear and glowered at it as if she could see me.
"You were being rude to me because of a boy?" I asked, letting my voice rise in false annoyance. "Good for you, finally taking my advice and getting yourself a boyfriend."
"He is not a boy, he's a man. And it was not because of you."
"Yeah sure,….is it that pizza boy, I mean, man?" I questioned, she didn't answer and I felt myself smirk. I do work wonders. "Oh, he was pretty cute, what was his name, It started with an S right." I teased her and she sighed, I could feel the disappointment wafting through the phone.
"His name is Daito and he's wondering why my sister is asking about him." She whispered at me, trying to keep her voice low.
"Dang, I wasn't even close… Alright I'll go, but tell him I'm training to be a hero and that it is perfectly legal to tear off body parts if it's in the name of love, especially if i get my license."
"That is clearly illegal and you know it." And with that she hung up. I didn't even get a goodbye, mmmm she's just lucky i'm excited about my ship or she'd get another call specifically describing what she looks like in her sleep. I put my phone back in my school bag and walked back into the kitchen, where Katuski and his mom were making dinner.
"Wow, you guys are awesome." I said, smelling the pleasant aroma in the air. "Is there anything I can help with?" I hope they say something easy because Lilly and I usually just order out… and my grandma refuses to let us help.
"Oh, that's great. You can help Katsuki with cutting." She said, turning back to the now steaming cream.
"I do not need your help." He said, as I walked over to the side of the island he was on, after washing my hands. His mom didn't say anything, so I pulled up my sleeves and grabbed the next vegetable that was set out.
"I get it Katuski, you're better at everything." I whispered to him, hoping his mom wouldn't hear me. "But it's rude not to ask and I was gonna be bored just watching." He rolled his eyes at my reasoning and I rolled my eyes at that, making sure mine was more exaggerated. He noticed and he mimicked my movements, however, he moved his head with his eyes, exaggerating his movements more than I did. I looked at him in surprise . "I didn't know you could joke."
"Shut up." He growled, the small crack of a smile gone from his face. I sulked, knowing i should have kept my mouth shut. "I joke all the time, I'm the funniest person I know." He said, continuing to chop the next poor vegetable that sat under his knife. I held back the smile that his words brought and just vaguely nodded my head, choosing not to argue about this. "Idiot, you're not even doing anything."
I looked down at the uncut vegetable and huffed playfully. "That's because I don't know which way you want me to cut it." I mumbled, once again checking if his mother was listening. She continued about the kitchen, otherwise oblivious to the conversation.
"Useless nerd"
"Uh, I can…. Well I… I kick stuff." I said, looking for anything that might actually sound impressive, how I blanked I'm not sure. "Just help me please, how are we chopping it? Like in a square? Longways?"
"Traditional."
"Oh. yeah okay, traditional." I had no idea what he was talking about, but I followed his movements and went with it. Dinner was ready soon after that, and before we started to set the table, the door opened, revealing the brown haired man that was in the photos hanging on the walls.
"Hey honey," He said, smiling at his wife. His eyes quickly landed on me and I shyly smiled. "Oh, we have a guest, hello." His smile was just as shy and his words felt awkward. I was taken aback at his demeanor, quickly shifting my eyes onto Katsuki, who had drifted his eyes off his father and onto the food set at the table. So he had apparently gotten much of his behavior and looks from his mother.
Mituski attacked her husband, or what I assume her husband because they both wore rings, with an aggressive kiss, wrapping her arms around him, almost tackling him to the floor. I quickly averted my eyes to anywhere but the couple, eventually looking at Katsuki to somehow get out of this situation. But for once, instead of yelling, he sat quietly and piled his plate, not waiting for his parents to eat.
"Are- aren't you gonna wait for them?" I asked, trying to direct my attention strictly away from his parents.
"Why should I wait for them?" he answered my question with one of his own, though I knew he wasn't really asking. He tried to take a bite, but a hand to the back of his head resulted with the neatly prepared dinner to scatter on his face and unto his shirt. I snorted at the sight, which didn't help his growing irritation.
"What was that for, you old bat?!" He yelled, turning his head to the source of the impact. She stood with her arms crossed, not wavering at the yelling teen.
"You should know your manners, Katuski," Mitsuki said, "You didn't even say hi to your father."
"You looked busy." He seethed, his lips snarling in disgust. Once again i felt awkward, but the tension fizzled out slightly when Mr. Bakugo put a firm hand on his wife's shoulder.
"It's okay, let's just eat." He said, neither blond looked ready to end the argument but they both turned from each other, and Mrs. Bakugo went to her seat. The brown haired man looked relieved, almost as if he wasn't sure that would work, but his expression changed when he saw me, quickly going back to an embarrassed smile. He sat down next to his wife on the other side of the table and graciously praised the two steaming Bakugo's.
"Thank you," Mistuki said, "Hiroko and Katuski helped," He looked over to me and realized that I must be hiroko, and smiled again. I smiled back and bowed my head as low as I could without hitting the table.
"So you're Hiroko?" He asked. Oh no… Katuski probably talked about the weird stalker girl who's always staring at him, he seemed like the laid back one, but something had to attract the loud woman and aggressive, and I'm kinda scared as to what. "My wife told me about you on the way over, I didn't realize you were going to be eating with us."
"I-is that Okay." I asked worriedly, I didn't realize how much I wanted him to like me. He looked at me in surprise before Misyuki started to laugh again, while Katuski rolled his eyes with little discretion.
"Of course it's okay, I'm just surprised Katsuki invited you over," He said, I sighed slightly in relief and once again questioned why I cared so much. "And that you wanted to stay so long." He meant for his voice to be quieter but I easily heard it and smiled at his words.
"Why aren't you ever this quite anywhere else?" Blasty growled at me, I gave him a quick glare, but didn't respond, for Mitsuki went on to introduce the man sitting beside her.
"This is my husband Masaru," She said, he bowed his head just as awkwardly as I had.
"It's nice to meet you, I'm Hiroko." I told him, "you have a very pretty son."
NOOOOOOOOO
I'm sorry! I'm nervous!
"House, I-i mean house, I like the décor. Nice.. Nice- nice chairs, and the floor is beautiful. Is that mahogany wood?"
Nice save
Really?
No
"I didn't mean to say that, I got really nervous and-" Mitusi's cackle cut me off, she threw her head back and brought her hand to her chest. I felt myself slowly sinking out of the chair, wanting to disappear. I can't believe I said that.
"The Flirties right?" Mitsuki said, not even trying to compose herself as she spoke through her laughter. I nodded my head and wearily started to sit back up. "Yeah, my friend had the same thing when she was little, it got her, her future husband." She said with a wink, after she was done laughing. My face felt as hot as earlier, though this time there was no funny feeling, just utter embarrassment.
I glanced at Katuki, wondering if he'd start yelling, but his face remained stoic, looking off to the side again. Even though I was embarrassed, I felt myself smirk at his awkwardness. He brought his head back down to eat and shifted his eye to mine, I must have still had the mirk on my face, because he growled and I shifted back.
The rest of dinner went pretty smoothly, even learning that Katuski's Quirk was a mix of his parents. Getting his mother's Quirk of glycerin, which would explain why her skin looked so fantastic, and his dad's secretion of acid sweat. At that time I embarrassed myself again by geeking out about the different possibilities to improve their Quirks, realizing that my previous thought of Katsuki Quirk wouldn't have been as useful as it was now.
I originally thought that his sweat was the cause, but the combining of both his parents' Quirks was the source of his power With that in mind, I'd be able to enhance how powerful his explosions would be, maybe even how to control the speed, and the concentration of each. I mean it's just scientific equations and specific biological components, it was what we'd learned in chemistry last year.
That little excited rant had left the Bakugo's… surprised, maybe even worried for my well being. Even the usually arrogant Blasty Boy looked surprised at my fangirling outburst, in his own, angry-Katsuki way. After dinner was cleaned, Katuski and I went to his room to finish, my phone's clock reading 8:46 by the time we both had our arguments ready, each filled with random facts on Present Mic. Who, by the way was actually named Hizashi Yamada and used to go to UA with Mr. Aizawa.
I huffed tiredly and dragged myself down the stairs, scrunching my nose at the idea of walking home.
"Oh, you're leaving?" Mistuki asked as I began to put my shoes on by the door. I looked up to see her in a different outfit than before, though I can't clearly think of what she had on then. She wore black leggings and a shirt that gripped her curves.
"Dang, Mistuki, I hope I look that good when I get older," I randomly blurted out. What is going on today? She however didn't seem awkward about it and only puffed out her chest in pride.
"With what you got now, I say you'll do just fine." She said, now it was my turn to proudly smile, but that wasn't the case as I blushed, and thanked her for the compliment. She nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders and leaned against the wall, making me slightly fangirl at how awesome she looked. " I was coming over to tell you that Katuski's birthday will be in a few days, so after the sports festival we're going to go rock climbing. You should come."
I lost my balance for a second, so I put my unshoed foot down to stabilize myself. "Really?" I asked, excitedly. "That sounds like a lot of fun, but you mena harnessed right?" She laughed slightly and nodded her head.
"Yes, though Katuski wanted to climb without one and I was not having it." she answered me, I smiled and thought about the offer. "It'll be the Saturday after the sports festival, Katuski didn't want to stop his training so we're going afterwards."
"I would love to, can I ask my sister though, I don't know if she'll have plans or anything" I told her turfully, I really did enjoy being here, and though i would never admit it, Katuski was becoming less of an angry source of entertainment to mess and look at, and more of a friend. Though if I asked him, he'd probably say that I was just a stepping stone to getting further to the top.
"Great, i'll give you Katuski's number." She added with a wink, once again my fast lit on fire, and stayed that way till she was done adding the contact to my phone. Taking it upon herself to put his first name, which I was probably going to do anyway, meh probably blasty boy, and adding the explosive emoji. I snorted at the addition to my contacts and thanked her again.
With a wave goodbye and a reassurance that I would get home safely, making sure to text her "no mannered son" when I'd get there, I walked out the door and into the night.
And was never to be seen again. No i'm just kidding, Okay so that was really long. I really REALLY hope you guys think everyone was in character, and I must say that Mitsuki and Bakugo will have a slightly better relationship, though she still smacks him upside the head when he's disrespectful , i think that they both love each other, though their constant screaming and yelling at each other seems to be their only way of showing it. Okay, bye for now, I really want to be updating like once every two weeks, but like I've said before, i am very lazy.
Shout out to Mangodonut123 for helping me out with some editing!
Have a great day everybody, and I hoped you enjoyed ;p
