Disclaimer: I do not own Supernatural or the characters that come with the show. I do however own the characters I paired the boys with and the plot.

NOTICE: I've decided to update this story every Thursday from now on. So please check back then for the newest chapter!

Dean stood at the back door of Bobby's place watching her. She had her head buried in the engine of a 1984 Pontiac Firebird, he could hear her tinkering away as she stayed oblivious to the world around her. He took a sip of the beer he was nursing when Kaida came up on his side. "You should talk to her." She said.

"About what?"

"How about you start with the fact that you like her?"

"I don't."

"You do. She likes you too and when I called in about our close call Bobby wasn't the only one with worry in his voice."

She walked away before he could reply. To deny. To make her see reason. But he didn't call her back because somewhere deep down he knew she was right. He watched as Kaida joined her sister which is the first time he could remember Marie stopping her work to talk since she got out there. He finished his beer, going back inside to toss it in the trash and grab a new one.

"Marie, what are you doing out here?"

The elder of the two straightened up, hand on her hip which showed black grease and grime caking atop its usually creamy surface.

"What does it look like I'm doing?"

"Like you're wasting time. Punishing yourself. Moping about. Should I continue?"

"God, Kai. Would you let it go? The wraith was two weeks ago, I'm fine. Stop trying to put words in my mouth or get some sort of confession that isn't even true to begin with. Don't ask me about Dean, don't tell him of feelings that aren't there and don't do me any favors, k?" She snapped.

Kaida frowned, "Alright, sorry." A pause. "The anniversary is in two days." She said softly.

"I know, Kai. What do you want me to do? Go home? See mother and pretend I actually enjoy being around her?"

"But it would be for dad, not for her. I don't understand why you can't just do this, for him. For me."

"Because she killed him, Kaida!"

"No she-"

"She did! She's the one who sent him out to see what was going on in the middle of the night! She married into the family, Kaida. Which makes her a damned fool for thinking it wasn't supernatural. For thinking it was safe outside of the circle! How dare you try and defend her! To coddle her actions as if they were what was best!"

"I'm not-"

"Just leave me the hell alone, Kai! You're treading on thin ice and it's about to crack. Go back to your precious bookworm. I'm done discussing this with you."

"Hey, are you alright?"

Sam stood in the doorway of one of the guest rooms Bobby had that the girls were occupying. Earlier he watched Kaida come inside and instead of talking to anyone she went straight upstairs. He followed her to make sure she was okay.

"Yeah, I'm alright. No worries."

"Okay.. well, Bobby found us a new case and I think he wants us downstairs."

"That's good, I'll be down in a few minutes." A pause. "Sam?"

He was just about to leave when she said his name.

"Yeah?"

"Thanks, for checking on me."

"Anytime."

"I've been keeping an eye on the weather patterns and an ear to the ground. Word has it some activity has been popping up around Minnesota, I need you boys to go check it out."

"What about Marie and I?"

"I think Marie needs a break and you should take her to visit him."

Dean seemed to choose that moment to tune in. "Him? Him who?" Sam elbowed him.

"Bobby I don't-"

"I'll go."

They all turned to look at Marie who aside from looking a little upset looked more resigned than anything else. "I'll go see him."

"Are you sure?" "If I don't I'll regret it and you'll never leave me be about it. Besides, I miss him."

It took a while to get cleaned up, changed and pack both of the cars but eventually they were saying their goodbyes and heading for the highway.

About an hour into their drive Kai turned slightly in the passenger seat, laying her head against the headrest she sighed softly.

"What do you think mom's going to say when we get home?"

"You look tired but thankfully I know a good doctor."

Kaida smiled, "I'm serious, M."

Marie sighed and looked thoughtful for moment. "I don't know. I'm not going to promise this is going to be a beautiful reunion because most likely, it's not. But I promise to try my best to get along with her. For you. For dad."

"Thank you, I know this isn't going to be easy but I'm glad you're willing to give it a go."
