Hi, this is my first fan fiction, so please bear with me. This is a what if story about Will lying to Chubb about stealing the cakes. Halt has said that he would not have taken Will on as an apprentice if this were the case, so... This is the first story in a series of what ifs that I am planning to write. Also, a warning: The ending will be quite dark.

Terrible fanfiction has been plaguing the characters of Ranger's Apprentice. Naturally, they decide to do something about it. Even with the aid of not-so-mini-Kalkara to keep the fanbrats in line, the first year of the AFA is going to be interesting, to say the least.

Horace understood that it was just one of those things: they had to talk about it at some point, no matter how much neither of them wanted to. "Worst comes to worst," Duncan was saying, in a quiet, professional voice that Horace could tell was failing its usual purpose of hiding how the King felt, "I must count on you to take up the crown." Who are the Guard? And are they as fearsome as they say? This is my first try, so constructive criticism would be appreciated
