Chapter 4
The Gauranlen Tree, another Raid and a name for home
Itsuka came back to the base with the Steel and the Pod thing she had found.
"Hey, guys I'm back." Itsuka said as she waves to her group.
"Itsuka! You're back, how did it go?" Izuku asked.
"I got plenty of Steel and I also found this." Itsuka said as she shows the group the pod.
"What is that Itsuka?" Kinoko asked as she looked at the pod.
Poni recognized it however.
"Whoa, it's a Gauranlen Pod." Poni said with wide eyes.
"A Gauwhat Pod?" Ochako said.
"Gauranlen Pod if a person links to a Pod it can grow into a Gauranlen Tree where the person who links with the tree can make Dryads." Poni said as she explained the Pod and Tree.
"Dryads? Poni, what can they do?" Izuku asked Imagining plant people.
"Of course Chieftain Midoriya. Dryads can do multiple things from making berries, medicinal herbs, and even wood." Poni said.
"Um, how does that even work do these things poop them out or what?" Mei asked.
"I only know of Dryads but I never see one being born." Poni said.
Izuku thought about the benefits of the trees and Dryads for a few moments. He then made his choice.
"Hmmm Kinoko since you're our best planter I want you to plant the pod." Izuku said as Kinoko nods.
"Hey, Poni anything else I should know about the Gauranlen Tree?" Kinoko asked.
"Yeah, you just need to prune the tree every once in a while." Poni said.
"Huh, I just need to prune it sounds simple enough ok I'll do it." Kinoko said as she picks a place where to plant it.
After a while, Kinoko found a nice spot and planted the pod. But after she did the Tree matured quickly almost to its full size.
Kinoko wondered how she could get it to full size then she remembered that Poni said something about linking with the tree. So she closed her eyes and placed her forehead on the sapling. As she breathed in and out the tree began to grow and grow until it reached its full-sized tree of with orange leaves.
"Whoa!" Kinoko said as she landed on her ass seeing the tree fully grown.
The rest of the group rushes to see the rise of the Gauranlen Tree.
After seeing the Tree being grown Kinoko stood up and looked at it.
"Huh, it could use a prune or two. Hey, Mei can you make me a pair of gardening sheers?" Kinoko asked.
Mei nods as she leaves to make them.
Kinoko looks at the tree and wonders how to call upon the dryads.
As she does this the group decides to continue their day.
A few weeks later
It had been a few weeks since Kinoko planted the Gauranlen Tree and during that time a dryad emerged from the Tree.
This Dryad has a green body with berries growing on its back the same kind of berries that grew on the nearby bushes.
Poni referred to this as a Berrymaker Dryad.
Kinoko named it Beri.
Izuku was thankful for this since winter was coming and the harvest needed to come soon.
Meanwhile, Mei had made newer and better beds along with Poni's Crossbow. They also practiced their Quirks. Poni was amazed by their Quirks. Izuku told Poni about what had happened and Poni was livid at what happened to them. She told them that she would respect them and honor them since they had given her a family.
The Quirked ones are genuinely happy with this.
Taking care of Pete was also tough but thankfully Poni knew how to make kibble and another caravan held hay grass and its seeds.
Little by little the small shelter began to turn into a home.
It was another day just like any other day. But the group began to notice that the days were getting shorter and the nights longer and colder.
Izuku looks upon the land as he sees light snowfall.
Last night he and Ochako went stargazing and the both of them enjoyed it. Ochako asked Izuku if he can buy a star map if they have it. Izuku said yes.
Soon winter came and the snow came thankfully they have a good stockpile for the winter and now they just needed to wait.
Izuku along with everyone was now dressed in parkas, tuques, gloves, and scarfs.
Poni still dressed in the stuff was now practicing with her crossbow trying to get better at it.
"Ugh, this thing is tough to use with these baggy clothes." Poni said as she loads another bolt on her crossbow.
Once loaded she fired again where she almost hits the bullseye. Poni adjusted her parka and smiled.
"At least these things keep me warm." Poni said as she takes out the bolts from the bullseye.
Poni then notices Ochako walking towards her.
"Oh, Ochako I was just about to come back." Poni said with a smile.
"Huh, I'm good Poni just checking on the walls. Along with the fireplaces." Ochako said.
"Ah, I see Ocha. Oh, I was wondering if you had any plans on expanding our home." Poni asked.
"Hmmm… maybe sometime in the spring." Ochako said.
"I hope so I get the feeling that we'll have more residents in this place." Poni said as Ochako nods.
The both of them looked up and saw Izuku flying with his Quirk.
They smiled as they see Izuku fly.
Izuku all the while was smiling as flew across the sky but that joy would vanish as he looked down and saw a group of 8 people.
All of them were armed with bows, spears, and swords. When Izuku saw this he turned back with great speed.
Once Izuku sees his home he uses his Quirk to amplify his voice.
"Girls arm yourselves we got a raid coming!" Izuku shouted.
The girls heard this and went to get their weapons. The raiders however heard this as well and began to charge toward Izuku's home.
The girls came out with weapons in hand and began to fire at the raiders. The Raiders with bows fired back while the ones with the melee weapons charged at them.
Mei used her Meta-Gene and aimed her bolt action rifle and she fired.
"Gah!"
"GEMINAI NNNNNOOOOO!"
Mei had scored a headshot and decided to do again on the other guy.
"Damn it they got Lucio." One Raider said.
"Forget him we loot, raze and rap-!" Another Raider said before he receives a chest full of shotgun pellets courtesy of Ochako's shotgun.
Poni fired her crossbow injuring a knocking him down.
"Yes I got one!" Poni said as she was shot by an arrow on the shoulder.
"PONI!" Izuku shouted as he used his Meta-Gene to push back the Raiders.
Fuyumi noticed Poni and dragged her out of the battle to tend to her wounds.
Itsuka fired a shotgun blast thus killing the guy. Once the raiders saw that more than half of their forces are gone they flee.
Kinoko also managed to shoot and kill a Raider as well.
After an hour has passed they began to calm down.
"Alright then…Mei, Itsuka gather the weapons and other stuff the raiders had its metal smelt it and if its wood use it fuel for the pyre." Izuku commanded.
"Got it Zuzu." Mei said as she went on her way.
"Right then let's see what they got." Itsuka said.
"Kinoko check on Beri. Ochako see if there is any damage to our home." Izuku said.
"Ah! You're right hold on Beri mama's coming." Kinoko said as she rushes towards her Dryad.
"Ok Izuku what will you do?" Ochako asked.
"Check on Poni she's the only one hurt." Izuku said as Ochako nods.
All in all it ended well. The only one hurt is Poni and everyone else didn't get hurt. Fuyumi did a fantastic job in healing Poni.
"I'm ok chieftain nothing a few days of rest wouldn't fix." Poni said.
"Indeed though there will be a small scar but other than that she'll be just fine." Fuyumi said with a smile.
"Thank you Fuyumi. When Poni gets better will have a meeting in the dining hall after dinner." Izuku said as the two girls nod.
Later that night after dinner
They all had dinner but that didn't matter as Izuku called for a meeting. He and the girls were all siting there quietly until Izuku broke the silence.
"Alright this raid has taught us that we need better weapons and protection." Izuku said.
"Yup but all we have now is just 20th century guns and basic melee weapons." Mei said.
"That's right first off any ideas on how we can improve our home?" Izuku asked.
This got the girls thinking for a bit and after a while they spoke.
"Ok I think we should build a wall from what we saw and what Poni told us of the Imperium they're most likely late medieval to early renaissance eras. So a tall wall made of Granite should protect us." Ochako said.
"That being said I'd also suggest we build a Quarry to mine out the stone needed for the wall." Itsuka said.
"A better hospital would be nice along with a workshop to make better medicine." Fuyumi added.
"How about a big game room with all sort of fun things to make." Kinoko added.
"We should also explore that place Fuyumi found, my gut is telling me that there might be awesome stuff in there." Mei said.
"Um I think we need a better waste place and to make an ideology." Poni said.
"An Ideology?" Izuku asked.
Poni nodded as she explained the two major Ideologies. The Stellarch way and The Darken Truth. After Poni explained them the rest of the group hated both of the major Ideologies. The major reason and possibly the only reason is simple. Both of them practiced slavery.
Being from a planet that had banned the practice they were disgusted by this.
Izuku took a deep breath and exhaled.
"Ok we'll worry about it later so I think we all know to stay away from those Ideologies." Izuku said as everyone else nodded.
"Um so anyway I think we should name our home?" Itsuka said.
"I mean I think we should name something cool like I don't know like…Midoriton." Ochako said.
"Well we need a faction name as well… I know the Verdant Valley Confederacy." Fuyumi said.
As Izuku heard the name he began to think about and to be honest he liked it.
"I'll change our home's name to Verdantburg but yeah I like the faction name. As of today we are the Verdant Valley Confederacy." Izuku said as he raised his glass.
"For the V.V.C!" The girls shouted as they clinked their glasses.
Soon the room was filled with laughter and Joy.
Unknown to everyone in the room this was the birth of the largest nation in the world and Verdantburg would become Terra's capital. But that's a story for another day.
Meanwhile in a bar
One of the raiders that tried and fail to take anything from Verdantburg was sitting in a bar talking to someone.
"He was lifting objects with his mind and called upon a shockwave to blast us off." The raider said.
"Did he use any Psycasts?" The person said as another person wrote on her notebook.
"No ma'am I didn't he just used telekinesis and the like." The Raider said.
"I see then… Aiba pay the man." The 1st person said.
"Yes Madam Warden." The now named Aiba said as she paid the man.
Aiba is a very short young woman with quite a large, round head, compared to her narrow body. She has raspberry pink hair, which she wears up in two high pigtails, wide and thick at the top and thin at the bottom, the ends curved upwards to the sides at her waist, their edges trimmed straight. She has a single bang in the middle of her forehead, swept pointedly to her right, and very large, pointed-down eyes with dark rings on the underside of each, two longer eyelashes to each far side, which take up most of her face. Her irises are oval-shaped, pink in color, and each has two circles between their small pupils and their rims, giving them a rather hypnotic look.
"Thanks little one." The Raider said as he takes the money.
"What will you do now?" Aiba asked.
"Me well I'm gonna find honest work last thing I need is too blasted by whatever the hell those things were." The now Ex-Raider said as he leaves.
"What do we do now Madam Warden?" Aiba asked.
"Will pay a visit to this land Aiba." The Warden said as they paid for their meals and left the bar.
