The Boy Next Door - A Big Time Rush Fanfiction….

A/N - Well here is chapter eleven! I was inspired to write after I saw BTR last night in Chicago! It was amazing! And this chapter it amazing, one of my favorites to write by far. I'm not to thrilled with how it ended but it'll do. I wanted to update lol. I might try and do a double update this weekend since I'm so close to being done with this story. But I make no promises.

Now for their concert: OMG it was amazing! Literally the best night ever! They sang every song from the show as well as their new ones! The guys even came into the audience and right to where I was sitting. James came through the crowd and he held my hand during "time of our life" for like fifteen seconds and sang to me and smiled at me the whole time before the security had to pull him away to safety. I about died of excitement I can't believe that happened. And then Logan and James both performed right next to where I was sitting. But the rest of the show omg, things were just amazing overall. It's not just a show BTR makes it an experience for sure and that is what it was ahhh! I just want to relive it lol. Best night of my life I recommend seeing them live! :)

Okay I'm done sharing my excitement and experience lol. Anyway I hope you like this chapter I wrote this like right away being inspired. Anyway I hope you enjoy this I won't keep you anymore!

Disclaimer: I do not own Big Time Rush the name now belongs to Kendall, Logan, James and Carlos ;)

Chapter 11
Big Time New Identity

The winter months were coming making it a year that had passed since his fourteenth birthday, and Hortense was preparing himself for another possible cold. Last year wasn't bad since he mainly hung out with Kendall, James, and Carlos. He was hoping this year would be the same. The four would shovel snow instead of mowing lawns for money, making their business grow all while doing so. Hortense hoped that in between school, the four could sled down hills and go ice skating. It was something he was looking forward to. The Choir was ending, and the concert had been fantastic. All the parents loved the show and praised how wonderful each boy did and sounded. With Choir ending, hockey tryouts were right around the corner.

Hortense knew Kendall was already planning to try out. So, of course, they tried out, and all four made the team. It didn't surprise the young genius; they were good together and better on the ice. It was the beginning of September when they made the team. Hortense's birthday was coming up, and he'd be turning fifteen. All Hortense wanted for his fifteenth birthday was to spend time with his friends, getting into any crazy shenanigans they could. It was going to be a good one; Hortense could feel it.

Grabbing his backpack, Hortense rushed out his bedroom door, and he was already running behind to get to the school bus stop. He knew Kendall would already be there without him. His mother stopped him for a quick moment making him grab a jacket. At first, the young genius was confused until she pointed out the window and he noticed the snow. It was now and pretty decent too. It was the first snow of the year, and Hortense smiled at it. Some may hate the snow and cold, but Hortense still was in awe of it. Being from Texas, he hadn't seen snow until he was twelve. That was when he moved here to Minnesota when he finally saw snow for the first time in his life and now sees it every year.

"It's snowing already?" Hortense questioned with a small smile as he put his jacket on.

His mother nodded, "Yeah, and we're supposed to get it all week." Mrs. Mitchell grumbled as she took a sip of her coffee before patting Hortense on the shoulder. "Now off you go before you miss the bus, have a good day!"

With that, Hortense rushed out the door. As the bus pulled up to the stop, he just made it in time. Arriving next to Kendall, Hortense noticed the blonde-haired boy eyed him oddly. The young genius explained he hadn't heard his alarm and overslept. Nodding, they went to their lockers and met with James and Carlos. The morning went by well, and the four soon found themselves at lunch, sitting at their table. They were eating and talking about all their plans to hang out. It was something that lunchtime was good for.

Our mini-golf is out of the bag since it's snowing, and we only have an outside course. What are we going to do after school? It's one day we don't have hockey. I want to do something!

"We could go see a movie," Carlos states as he puts his helmet on and starts eating his lunch too. He was eating a piece of pizza.

"Nah, too boring; I'm not in the mood for a movie," James grumbles as he shakes his head. "If I'm not in it, I don't want to see it at the moment."

His statement had caused the other three to roll their eyes a little. "We could go ice skating? It's been a while since we've done that." Kendall states as he, too, ate the lunch his mother packed for him, he was eating a healthy salad.

"Noooo." James, Carlos, and Hortense all state, making Kendall eye them in surprise. Usually, they would have agreed, but since hockey season started, ice skating hasn't been any of the three's top priorities.

"Okay, okay, it was just a suggestion. Then what should we do?" Kendall wondered as he raised an eyebrow at the three as he drank his soda.

There was a moment of silence between everyone before Hortense looked up from his homework and said, "How about snowboarding?" Hortense also had lunch; he had a sandwich, but one that was different from James's.

"Yeah, that's a good idea; it's the first snow of the year, we should go snowboarding!" Carlos stated with a smile as his mouth was full of food.

So the four friends were excited about the rest of their school day after lunch. They all went their separate ways to ask their parents about snowboarding. Kendall, Carlos, and Hortense were all allowed to go, but they had to finish their homework. So when they were done, they met up at Kendall's house, grabbed their gear, and headed out to James's house. All three boys were nervous to ask if James could join them; they hoped his mother had agreed. Mrs. Diamond was famous in the Midwest for owning her own cosmetic business. She was part beautiful, part scary, and all-powerful. It caused people to fear her and never say no to her. There was never an explanation for why things were that way, but the rumor was it started before James and the others were even born. So, when Logan, Kendall, and Carlos showed up at James's house, they knocked on the door waiting for Mrs. Diamond was the one to open it.

Kendall smiled at the woman and said, "Hey, Mrs. Diamond…Carlos, Hortense, and I are here to see James and see if he can go snowboarding with us." Kendall asked with his best smile as nicely as he could, hoping he could win her over.

She was silent for a moment as she eyed them, then she said something that wasn't even on topic. Something surprised them. "I don't like the name Hortense; call him Logan from now on." The look on her face challenged the young boy to say "no" to her.

The statement caused all three of their eyes to widen. Carlos and Kendall instantly turn to look at Hortense, standing between them. Hortense was shocked, and she wanted him to change his whole name? And to Logan of all names? He did not look like a Logan! Even with those thoughts running through his mind, he just stood there, his mouth opened, unsure how to respond. He started to shake a little, and his eyes blinked, over and over. His mind was trying to wrap around the older woman's command. Kendall must have noticed this, for the young genius heard his friend speak up.

"So uh yeah…were here to see James and wondered if he could go snowboarding with us," Kendall repeated as he once more smiled at her.

Mrs. Diamond crosses her arms and eyes them even more. "Sure, if you all agree to call Hortense, Logan from now on."

Hortense nodded, making Kendall and Carlos eye him in surprise. He only agreed because he wanted the conversation to be over and to not argue with the woman; once more, you don't say no to his mother. With a satisfied smile, Mrs. Diamond turned and went inside to retrieve James. Their friend appeared five minutes later, and the four started to head to the snowboarding place. As they walked, Hortense kept thinking about what Mrs. Diamond had commanded. Logan?... She wants me to go by Logan…Logan Mitchell….Hortense Mitchell….Logan Mitchell….the more he thought about it, the more he was starting to like the sound of being called Logan better than Hortense. Maybe he wouldn't be made fun of as much with the name Logan, and it could be a life change. Kendall explained to James his mother's demand for Hortense to change his name to Logan and complained it was utterly ridiculous and unfair.

"Well, what does Hortense think of my mom's command?" James questions, making them stop in their tracks. Kendall, James, and Carlos turned to the boy.

Hortense is silent as his mind runs through his options. He smiles. It rings better than Hortense Mitchell. From now on, I want to go by Logan Mitchell.

The three look at their friend in surprise, and Kendall says, "Are you sure?"

The young genius nods and smiles. "I'm very positive."

All three smile at him, and Kendall states, "Alright, Logan, let's get going then."

James and Carlos smile and the four of them all go snowboarding. From then on, Hortense started going by Logan, and the four had a blast snowboarding and then went home. They snowboarded until sundown and then went home. As soon as he got home, he told his mother about his day and how Mrs. Diamond requested that the boy goes by Logan and that he wanted to. His mother wasn't thrilled, and it started a big argument between them, which caused his mother to send him to bed for the night. Hortense (Logan) went to bed, and he promised himself he would do whatever it took to get his name to be changed to Logan. This weekend he had some plans to do some research. The first research project was to find out what was on the paper from his doctor's appointment and what it was about. The second research project would be to find out how to make his name Logan from now on. Little did he know how right Mrs. Diamond had been about changing his name…
