Ginny's POV

I wanted to take a trip to the Muggle world to see if anything changed, but Harry refused, "I don't like it, remember? You can't do any magic with them around," I left him, and went to see if the kids wanted to go. Albus and Lily were playing Exploding Snap, "Sorry Mum, we want to finish this game," James was more than happy to go. He had never been to the Muggle world, but Albus and Lily had been beforehand, "I'll go with you!" I told Harry when we would be back, and told him to have his mobile phone with him at all times, in case something happened. He then went to the Ministry, to get an update on his office.

Ron and Hermione brought their kids to watch my kids, and so all of them could play together.

"James and I are going out, but I want you guys to have your phones with you, OK?" They agreed, and James and I left to the Muggle world. I took James to a video game store, where he was fascinated about them. We went to a few more stores, where I bought him a shirt with a lion on it. I took a toy car out of my pocket and waited until nobody was paying attention to us, and said, "Engorgio," The car expanded and we got in. We were driving to a restaurant about a 30-minute drive away. It was a peaceful drive, until a driver behind us crashed into us and we slid off the road and into a ditch. I knew he did it deliberately because it had slowed to a stop, and he had too. My head crashed into the steering wheel, and then flew back. I heard a few things crack, and the windshield broke into my face. I felt blood running down my face, but I didn't care, and wanted to see how James was.

"James? Are you alright?" He didn't reply, "James?" I finally heard a gasp from him, "I don't know if I'm OK," I tried to reach my phone to call the paramedics, but it had fallen into the backseat with James, "James? Are you able to reach my phone and hand it to me?" It was just in his reach and he handed it to me. I punched in 911, and it was ringing.

"911, what's your emergency?"

"My son and I were in a car accident hit by a male driver and have fallen into a ditch,"

"Is anyone hurt?"

"I heard a few things crack, I think I have a concussion of some sort, and my face was cut by the windshield breaking. It also hurts to breathe. I don't know about my son, just give me a moment," I covered the receiver, and asked James, "Does anything hurt?"

"Yeah,"

"Where?"

"My legs, arms, head, chest, everywhere,"

I uncovered the receiver, and said, "My son says everything hurts,"

"Did the driver do it deliberately?"

"Yes,"

"Were you able to see his license plate?"

"Yeah. It said 'DKONG518' on it,"

"Ambulance and police are on their way. Do not hang up, what do you think happened to your son?"

"I don't know, I think it's pretty serious. He's moaning in pain a lot as we speak,"

"Is he able to move?"

"He is moving, but only just," I started to become unaware of my surroundings, and the last thing I remember was the sirens of the vehicles speeding toward us before I passed out.

Harry's POV

"-so the desk would be moved over there," My office was going to be relocated, so my assistant was going over everything with me. Suddenly, my phone rang. I nervously answered it.

"Hello?"

"Hello, may I speak to Mr. Harry Potter?"

"Speaking,"

"Your son and wife have been in a car accident. We need you to get to London Hospital as soon as possible,"

"They've been in an accident?! I'll be right there, I'm not too far away!,"

"Are there any other people we can contact that are family?"

"Yes. My brother-in-law, Ronald Weasley, and my sister-in-law, Hermione Weasley," I rattled off their phone numbers, and told my assistant what happened. I left, and Apparated right outside the hospital and rushed in to the receptionist, "Ginny and James Potter, where are they!?"

"They are both being examined. Go to Exam Room 20, and you will find them," I left, and sped toward the room seeing Ron and Hermione there. I knocked on the door, and the doctor opens the door, "Hello, may I ask who you are?"

"I'm Ginny's wife, this is her brother and sister-in-law,"

"Thank you for confirming. Arthur, I'll be right back," He called to his assistant. Hermione then spoke up, "How are the injuries?"

"Ginny has a mild concussion, cuts on her face from the glass, and a punctured lung. That's all we know about her right now,"

"How about James?"

"He was banged up more than Ginny. Almost all his ribs are broken, his left arm was broken in 3 places, while the right was broken in 2. His right leg was slightly crushed, and the other leg is just bruised. His head was hit very hard, so we believe that he's going to have head trauma for vehicles,"

"Is he going to be OK?"

"He will go on to make a full recovery, other than the trauma. We do have more news about Ginny,"

"Please say it's good news,"

"I'm sorry to say it's not. I got information that Ginny had a serious infection in her left leg?"

"Correct,"

"The medicine didn't work, and it won't clear,"

"What does that mean?"

"We will have to amputate," I was in shock. I asked, "Is this the only choice?"

"It's life or limb. You're her husband, right?"

"Yes, Harry Potter,"

"You have the final say of what we can do,"

"Where would you amputate?"

"The infection had spread without us knowing, it would have to be halfway down the thigh,"

"Can I speak with Ginny first?"

"She's unconscious right now. We really need an answer. If yes, there is some paperwork for you to fill out, if not, then there's nothing else we can do," I looked at Ron and Hermione, and they nodded. I faced the doctor and said, "Do it," I filled out the necessary paperwork, and Ginny was wheeled of into surgery. By then, James had been put in his own room, all bandaged up. Only immediate family was allowed in, so I entered and closed the door behind me.

"Hey, buddy," He smiled, "Hi, Dad,"

"How're you feeling?"

"Like crap," I laughed, "That's normal,"

"Dad?"

"Yes?"

"What's going to happen?"

"What do you mean?"

"Mum, Hogwarts, me being in a Muggle hospital, that sorta stuff,"

"Well, for Hogwarts, I'll bring in a Healer, and they can fix you up. Then we'll say that it was a miracle that you healed so fast. Then you can go to Hogwarts,"

"But-"

"But what?"

"But I don't want to go on the train,"

"How come?"

"I don't want to get into another accident. I'm scared now,"

"Yes. The doctor said that in result of being in an accident, you now have trauma for vehicles,"

"What's trauma?"

"It means that since you were in a car accident and were conscious, you know what it's like. Now, after the accident, you're afraid of vehicles and don't want to be in one,"

"Oh. What's going to happen with Mum?"

" She's in surgery right now,"

"Why?"

"She had a bad injury and has to have her leg taken off,"

"Oh. Is she going to be OK?"

"She'll be fine. Don't worry,"

"How am I going to get to school if I don't take a train or vehicle?"

"There is a Wizarding thing called a Portkey. It's basically a random object that you put a spell on that will teleport you to your desired destination,"

"So it's like Apparating?"

"Yes, but safer. I'll talk to the school and see what can happen,"

"When will you bring in the Healer? I don't want to be stuck in bed,"

"Not for a little while. Sorry bud,"

"When can I get back on a broom?"

"If you want to, I'd have to put many safety charms on your Nimbus, but first, you have to get over your fear a little bit. Deal?"

"Deal," We continued talking, until I heard a knock on the door, and Ron and Hermione walked in.

"The doctor said we could," Ron said before I even tried to say something, "Hey, James? We got something that might cheer you up,"

"What is it?" Ron went and got a box. He walked in front of James, and lifted the lid from the box, "Your dad allowed us to get this for you as a present,"

"Wait, is this what I think it is?"

"It's a FireBolt,"

"What!? No way! I've been wanting one of this like, forever!" I laughed, "Glad you like it, James. I was going to get you one for your birthday, but I figured now was a better time,"

"Thank you so much, Dad!"

"Don't thank me,"

"Thank you, Uncle Ron, Aunt Hermione!" They laughed, "You're welcome, James!" A doctor then came in, and signalled for me to come to him, "Be right back, James,"

"Harry Potter?"

"Yes,"

"Your wife is still in surgery, but I wanted to talk to you about what will happen after,"

"Can we move rooms first? I don't want my son listening to this,"

"Sure," We moved to a different room where the doctor wasted no time getting to the point, "Your wife's name is Ginerva Molly Potter? This is just confirmation,"

"Correct. She goes by Ginny. How long would she have stay in here for before she can be discharged?"

"We will be providing medication to help her recover from the amputation. She will also need physical therapy, since she will be in bed for a long period of time. We will be providing her a prosthetic leg to help here walk. The estimated time would be a few months, and that's if there are no complications. She will be in surgery longer than usual as they are repairing her lung as well. She may be out of surgery a few hours time,"

"When will she start physical therapy?"

"She will have to have healed a bit by then, at least, and we start showing her the parts of the limb. A few weeks after, she would start walking. Have you every heard of 'New Kids On the Block'?"

"A bit,"

"I like to encourage patients like Ginny to take it step by step. Step by Step is one of their hit songs. Her concussion will heal during time. I have random question for you, and it's OK if you don't know what I'm talking about and think I'm mad,"

"Hit me,"

"Do your kids go to Hogwarts?"

"Yes. My oldest, James, is hopefully starting this year. My middle child, Albus, is eight, and my youngest, Lily, is 6. My brother-in-law's daughter, Rose is nine, and his younger son is 7,"

"OK. I wanted to ask that because then I can say magic won't be able to heal Ginny. We have healed her cuts, but we can't regrow limbs,"

"I thought so. It's OK, though. Are you able to heal James's bones, though?"

"Yes, why don't we do that right now? Before I forget?"

"Let's go," We went back to James's room, where I whispered something to him quickly, "This man is a wizard, he's gonna fix your bones, OK?" He nodded. The doctor closed the door, and said a series of healing charms. Then he looked at Ron, Hermione and I, "There's a reason we're rated the number one hospital. Normally, I'd wait until the patient was asleep, but Harry already told me," James then looked excited, "Does this mean I can leave?"

"You still have to take it easy, but yes, you can leave if your father says you can. He may want to keep you here overnight for observation, but that's on him,"

"Dad?" I laughed, "Uncle Ron and Aunt Hermione will take you home. Wait, who's watching the kids, guys?"

"Teddy,"

"Do me a favour and ask him to babysit my children, if you're too busy or want to go home?"

"We'll stay at your house," The doctor then spoke up, "James? Just so you know, unless your dad put a number of safety charms on a broom, you're not allowed to fly. Even with the charms, an adult has to be watching you at all times, deal?"

"Deal,"The doctor wrote the names of the charms on a piece of parchment, and handed it to me, "These are the charms you are going to have to put on a broom for James to fly. Don't take them off for another month," I nodded.

"Hey, James, buddy?"

"What's up, Dad?"

"I'm gonna charm PortKey, and we'll go home. I'll have the doctor message me when Mum's outta surgery, is that OK?"

"Sure, but there are conditions,"

"What?"

"Like- wait, I never got your name?"

"Dr. Landon Peterson, but call me Landon,"

"Like Landon said, you're gonna take it easy. You can watch a show, or read a book. You may play with Lily, Teddy, and Albus, but some sort of board or card game. No running in the house,"

"Alright," I charmed PortKey, and Ron, James, Hermione and I were back home in a flash.
