Jane and Lisbon are taking a trip, when Lisbon runs into Pike by chance at the airport. The conversation they needed to have.

It was obvious that Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon shared a strong and special bond. The scene earlier with the fallen envelopes only confirmed that they were close. But it didn't look like they were together; they didn't communicate with touches but with their eyes. And he still wore his wedding band. AU about how Jane and Lisbon's relationship is seen by the other condo owners.

Abbott had a bad day. He'd almost lost one of his own poeple and while this on it's own could ruin a man's day, he was also unfortunate enough to (more or less willingly) overhear how Jane and Lisbon handle this. (A few weeks after Blue Bird)

This story was based very loosely on the time around Jane's shooting of Timothy Carter. At the time I started writing it, I had no clue it would turn out to be a red herring but I still to this day think Carter would have made a worthy Red John. Even in prison Jane manages to charm a confession of her own out of Lisbon, with a slightly saucy outcome.
