Lexie's POV: A long dark shadow passed the window of the common room when I stepped out of the dormitory the next morning. After hours of tossing and turning I had given up hope of getting any sleep that night. I had crawled out of bed, put on new clothes and moved into the common room. There I sat in a velvety armchair by the fire and watched dark figures passing by in the lake. I had still not quite digested yesterday. First the disappointment of the Quidditch play and then four weeks of detention for basically being insulted. Immediately the rage rose again in me and I took a few deep breaths to calm myself down. Anger led to thoughtless actions, which in turn - as was proved several times yesterday - led to nothing good. In the hope of distracting myself from yesterday, I picked up my potion pads and began to repeat various potions, their ingredients, and their effects.
Little by little the other students trickled in. I finally set off for breakfast with my roommates. Lost in thought, I poked around in my eggs as Draco sat down next to me.
"Four weeks, eh?"
"Hm," I replied.
"I wonder what he has against you. Of course, he always favoured Gryffindor, but so far it never had a negative effect on the other houses." He grabbed two slices of toast and continued talking between two full bites. "Perhaps he hadn't quite gotten over the fact that you had caught the snitch and thus ruined Gryffindor's victory," he continued philosophising. "Did you see McGonagall and Snape earlier? When they congratulated themselves on a good game yesterday, I thought they were going to pull out their wands and find a real winner there and then. Of course, that would be a duel I'd love to see."
"Hm", I murmured in agreement.
Draco stopped and looked at me. "You're a real sunshine this morning, Lexie."
I moaned. "I'm about to have a double-hour of defence against the dark arts... with Gryffindor."
"Hm," said Draco.

Nicki's POV: All of us had put yesterday aside. All of us? No. A single-player was still staring darkly into his untouched porridge. I sighed, got up from where I said with Angelina, Katie and Alicia and flopped down next to Wood. He didn't even lookup. I bopped him with my elbow and said: "You know, you won't gain anything from brooding around here and thinking about the game."
He made a noise in his throat that sounded more like a resigned bear than human, but at least he lifted his head and turned slightly towards me.
"Rationally yes. But I can't help thinking that if we just played better, if Harry just caught the snitch, if I held one more quaffle... we could have won."
He sighed and raked his hand through his hair. "And it's not cheering me up at all that I have to see Flint and that wretch of a Hatchet again so soon."
I grinned and whispered conspiratory: "When Lupin pairs us up, you could pair up with Hatchet and let out all your frustration. I know from a reliable source that Lupin and Hatchet aren't on good terms anyway and she'll probably be riled up and you know how she gets. How all the Slytherins get."
Oliver looked at me for a moment. Then he nodded and took a sip of his breakfast tea. "True. I still don't want to pair up with her. I can't stand to see her more than necessary. And after yesterday..."
I couldn't understand the rest of his sentence because he grumbled it too quietly for me to hear. We said goodbye to the girls, then walked towards Lupin's classroom. The door was already open, so we stepped inside. Lupin greeted us with a smile.
"You're early", he said. "Could you help me make space?"
"Sure", Wood said and we quickly put all the desks and chairs aside so that we had had a big space in the middle of the room.
Slowly, the other students trickled in and we spread around the room. When everyone was there, Lupin stood in front of us.
"Today, we're starting on dementors. You've probably talked about them before, but since they're all around us this year, it is much more important. I don't wish it on any of you but you should know everything there is to know and how to properly defend yourself. Who can tell me which spell helps against dementors?" Lupin looked at us expectantly.
I raised my hand at the same moment Hatchet raised hers. Lupin ignored her completely.
"Yes, Miss Shelley?"
"The Patronus Charm. The incantation is Expecto Patronum", I answered.
Lupin nodded. "Yes, good. 5 points to Gryffindor."
I smiled at him, then glanced over to Hatchet, who met my eyes with anger. I winked at her. I saw how she balled her hands and looked away.
Lupin continued: "I won't confront you with a dementor. Not even with a boggart. I want you to perfect your Patronuses first and we have ideal conditions here. You can pair up if you want, but it's not necessary. To conjure a Patronus, think of the happiest memory you have. It can be anything, it just has to be a happy memory for you personally. Please, go and practice. If nothing happens in this lesson, that's okay. It's one of the hardest spells and you're here to learn. If you have questions, don't hesitate to speak up. Now, go and start."
Each of us quickly took a place, mine getting me closer than I would have liked to Hatchet.
"4 weeks, huh?", I whispered loud enough that she could hear me.
"Shut up", she spat back.
"Never", I replied with a smirk and turned to the task at hand. A happy memory... wow, that was harder than I thought.
